I would be tempted to tell the accuser "Ya know, if I were the staring type, I would be looking at [accuser's enemy]. She's thinner and doesn't have that weird thing with her nose" (leaving the thing unspecified of course).

Yes. I think a lot of it is projection. Men are far better equipped psychologically to deal with loneliness. Even if true, the male loneliness epidemic will become the female loneliness epidemic soon enough.

Women tend to imagine pain and illnesses a lot more. I've never known a man with one of those "I have a syndrome" syndromes like fibromyalgia or anything else that relies on a cluster of vague symptoms perfect for getting you out of work or expectations.

The male loneliness epidemic becomes the female on with time. Men adapt to being alone a lot better than women. I don't believe it has destroyed men. It's already biting women in the ass more than anyone else. I work in software development where there have been major pushes for women for 15+ years. The number of men mentoring women going into any tech fields has nosedived, and in addition to all the scholarships and grants they get just for being women, the mentoring is a key part of these initiatives.
