Because with the weight loss (for the untrained individual) you don't need as muscular of a base to maintain the level of operation you did beforehand. Of course if you had accrued muscle mass by lifting it would only make sense to keep lifting. If anything you run the risk of making yourself seem needy (therefore unattractive). So in short, I wouldn't do it either.
