This is the most terrifying sentiment I've read on Reddit in a while. Holy moly. Have you read no sci-fi?

It is not "best" or in any way intuitive to say successful men should get the hot women and the rest should pair off. You show no awareness or interest in women as anything but sex objects that fulfill the needs of men, or in people at large as complex beings who don't necessarily want to be "paired off" or aren't even straight. You seem a lot more interested in the subjugation of women than men's rights, and freakily enough, you seem to think they're the same thing.

I have had two stepfathers and both of them were always getting financially reamed by their ex-wives, who came up with bogus sob stories to get more child support, which always went to the mother and not the kids. Really fucking terrible. I’m a feminist, but that doesn’t mean I support women who are manipulative fuckfaces.

If a group of people come together in the name of equality for their group, I don't think we can fairly say they are seeking superiority, whether it's POC addressing the proportion of black inmates compared to total crimes (versus other groups) or women seeking a greater presence in jobs, roles and fields that have been nearly male-dominated and exclusive throughout most of history in most places (without regard to merit). Are those affected by inequality sometimes short-sighted in their reach? …

I started out saying that I wouldn't paint feminists with a broad brush, though I also guessed (as an admitted non-scholar) that women instinctively might be more in tune with issues that affect women more than men. If that's true, that doesn't mean they don't want equality for everyone. A lot of well-meaning groups work alone when they might be better off working with others. I never said they unilaterally only fight for women's rights. Feminism is a huge part of what has driven the discussion …

Generally, I think a woman is more likely to understand and address issues that affect other women. I think a man is more likely to understand and address issues that affect other men. It's wonderful when people realize they both have problems in common and work together to solve them--they're more effective that way, I'd say. That said, not all groups of people face the same issues; sometimes an issue is singular to one particular group, and in those cases, I think it makes perfect sense to hav…

It does remind me a little of bathrooms---why do women get seclusion whereas men don't? If given the choice, I suspect most men would opt for a private urinal. Why are women receiving more care at these shelters than men? Perhaps because it's believed that women need more help and protection than men. I don't know what would correct that imbalance aside from having equally ardent lobbyists on both sides. It's kind of shame in my eyes that sides are needed at all, because most people at a shelter…

I am not a scholar on this subject, just a redditor. I'll give my two cents, whatever they're worth. There isn't just one branch or simple definition of feminism. Some feminists would pick up the MensRights flag in a heart beat; others might just roll their eyes. I wouldn't paint feminists with a broad brush. I get the complaints about the name--if it's about equality for everyone, why not call it peopleism, or something super broad and accepting? Perhaps because of the roots it has in addressin…

Sad story. If I could guess, the ex-wife was somehow hurt by his decision to be away for work so much of the time and she tried to get back at him. Using kids for that end... is pretty messed up.

Why (and where) is there opposition to that?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
