Generally I support words gaining more nuance and conceptual specificity when there are already generalized terms available. In this example, prejudice or discrimination could easily take the place of "racism" in many circumstances. "Racism" has a lot of baggage and when you include all the historical context in the word it allows that baggage to be more easily unpacked and understood. Where, when we share food the split should be 2/3 to 1/3 not 1/2 and 1/2 because I need more calories than she does. Feminism leading the way! The other factor that throws off pay gap statistics is how badly we pay childcare workers in the US. I am a proud feminist and BLM supporter because I support equality, I decry anyone who calls themselves a feminist or BLM supporter who works against the cause of equality.
