He's also her coach, despite you regretting discouraging her from pursuing her new softball passion. He's not telling her to skip school or not brush her teeth. He's actively giving his time to put her in the best position to thrive in a sport she clearly loves. She may burn out and stop enjoying it or choose to reduce her amount of teams she's on, but right now from what you've shared she seems to be choosing softball over mucking stalls. Also many kids at her age play rec with travel so that t…

Stop whining. Your daughters have an active life. If they're playing travel softball there will be bigger things missed than a 1 year olds birthday.

I caught a good buzz and hid it hoping to pawn it. Five years later still no idea where I put it

Legally 50/50. Moms schedule usually gets me closer to 55-60%. Coaching really also adds to your time with your kids during moms time.

I agree with above, but if your child support is doable personally I'd happily pay it and keep the extra time. To me that's better than going to court and just having a pissy ex that now has her kids for the agreed to find costing you the extra time.

Many on this sub have been where you're at. Start getting your ducks in a row, make a plan. Start prioritizing you. Doesn't mean you have to quit on the marriage just don't destroy yourself trying to save something that's probably already gone.

She's already cheating or has a AP in mind. And the guilt is manifesting as you're a bad guy for cheating because cheatings bad.

Also check your security questions. Things like mother's maiden name don't do you any good now. Enable two factor authentication on anything you can.

Took about two months and most of that was the fear of family court and losing time with my son. But that was never an issue and laying in bed peacefully not worrying about the contents of the phone of the person next to you is unbelievable.

I had this same experience, one thing OP didn't mention was doing the budget. What a breeze it became to maintain and stick to a budget with only one debit card being swiped. No more holy shit 45 last week in dunkin charges that I didn't know about.

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. - some buddhist dude. Start a birthday tradition involving your kid. Hype it up leading up to it. "Guess what in two days it's my birthday and we're going to celebrate by...". Get them pumped for a fun day and also shows your kid that even on a day that celebrates you they're the priority.

What risky said and more. Volunteer to coach his sports teams if he's into that, take him to see live music. Find passions you can both engage in together. Don't worry about dating. Moms going to be a mess for a long while be a solid foundation that your son knows is always going to be there. And for the love of God don't seek out alcohol to numb this temporary pain. Yes it is temporary. Pretty soon you'll be sitting with your feet up enjoying your peaceful meaningful life and watching the ex sp…

Exactly what swordfish said. It's what I did and it was absolutely necessary. Four years later and I can't understand why I was struggling so much with the lose of such a horrible relationship but I was. And unfortunately those same friends who helped me have had to reach out because they were going through the same thing. Most men know what you're going through and are there to help.

Divorce is always a pain in the ass, and hard with kids. Stay in your meds and resist the urge to drink. You are your kids best chance at being successful and happy now. Take care of yourself so that you can take care of them. Document all your interactions starting now. No matter how much you want to tell yourself she's still the woman you married she's not. She will put herself first during the process don't expect anything else. 50/50 custody minimum should be your number one none negotiable.

Depending on your kids age and interest in sports but volunteer to coach. Parents all get to know you, you get to know most of the kids in the town and impact alot of lives.

Dont listen to this ass. Will you lose half your shit, yeah probably. But if you want 50/50 custody fight for it and youll get it. Pause any relationships you have been working on with women. Focus on getting ready for this fight. Start putting cash aside for lawyer fees.

There will be plenty of opportunities to show your kids you are civil and friendly with their mother. Youth sports, recitals graduations. Happy hour with the AP is not one of them.

The courts rarely care about the parents social life unless there's a proven danger to the kids. And even then if it's the mother they especially don't care.

Take a deep breath. Her top priority is her doomed new relationship. Make yours being the best dad your kid could have. Take the free time you have now and use it to better yourself. Rekindle hobbies you have up because of your marriage. Share those with your kid when theyre with you. A single dad focusing on his kid is a powerful influence that even at a young age they will see and adore.

Child support is automatic and comes right from a worksheet/formula. Alimony I believe is more of a negotiation.

This, you wouldn't want her calling during your time interrupting your activities. Use the time to get chores done and build knowledge that your kids will enjoy sharing.

3 extra days a month x 12 months x 12 more years before 18 years old = ~430 more days with your kids before they become full blown adults. Don't give up that time.

Sometimes it depends on the state. Here in Maine you only owe alimony of the marriage was longer than 10 years. I believe that's a relatively new law.

Get a lawyer yesterday. Your marriage is done and has been done for awhile. All the energy you wasted being her husband now gets to be redirected towards your kids. You'll come out this a better father because you're not wasting energy on the ex. Go your own way.

Live in Brunswick Maine. Cant give you a recommendation for a good one, but I used Chris Dawson in Bath. He is terrible, try to push your wife his direction.

The biggest thing I've noticed since getting divorced. Everyone I work with is married and can't hang out, and if they can it's with the wife.

My ex did the same except the rich guy was fake rich and living on credit and crashing at a nice place that was soon to be sold as part of some dead relatives estate. Now hes crashing at her dumpy little rental that she has to figure out how to pay for. The first time I met him at a custody swap i walked over to him she freaked like i was going to lay him out and I just shook his hand and said bro I owe you a beer good luck. She was pissed.

Her combined income will help your spousal support. But many states child support is calculated by the "Parents" combined income. Any new partners income does not lower child support. In fact if she stops working because your partner can support her your child support will go up.

Why would the other man spend more time with him? Fight for 50% custody.

Honestly as a economy boost I kind of support this. Women dump 5000 into the economy, and a decent percentage of the men pay off debt or tuck the 1200 away for the next "pandemic".

I felt the same way you do last year when my then wife moved in with her AP. I hated the empty, boring alone time I had when he was at his mother's. But I eventually put the whiskey away and started focusing on hobbies I didn't use to have time for when I had the role of sole provider/only attentive parent. I bought a new guitar and started playing again, I replaced the old golf irons and got back out on the course. And guess what my 7 year old who is quickly growing from young boy to a young ma…
