Thanks for the response. You said you broke up with your ex for this reason; did you end up finding what you were looking for? And how do you know you made the right decision when you can't really know how your life would have turned it if you stayed?

Agreed. Unfortunately, sometimes that's just not in the cards; I was with another girl for 3 years. If I could have those years back and spend them with my current girlfriend instead, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I'm not sure anyone ever really has their appetite quenched. Regardless, the problem with the first option is I'm either a) cheating or b) broken up with the GF, meaning she is fucking other guys, and I don't think the tradeoff (me banging other girls vs her banging other guys) is worth it.

You did what? A break? Did you date other people or just take time alone to reflect? And how did it destroy the relationship?

Thanks for the reply. You're right that I should appreciate what I have, and I do. I guess I just wish I had had more time with her. It's a little bit like adopting a child at age 5 and then wishing you were there to witness his/her earlier years - first steps, first words, etc. It's not a matter of devaluing what you have now; it's a yearning for the kind of deeper connection you might have if you were there from the start, per se (which may admittedly be overblown in my mind). I am self employ…

That graph is a direct copy of the same graph that gets passed around here. We've already discussed this in this thread. By the way, what nobody has ever explained to me about this study is - if you're looking your population sample of 30 year old women, wouldn't you expect the women that have been married the longest to have the fewest sexual partners? THEY'VE BEEN OFF THE MARKET THE LONGEST! The problem with this study that it DOESN'T PREDICT DIVORCE, IT PREDICTS HOW LIKELY YOU ARE TO BE IN A …

Not an assumption. An irrefutable fact. Even if you were to suggest that you're equally close to your 6 "plates" as I am to my GF (a highly dubious proposition), our relationship is different from any of those simply by virtue of being exclusive.

That's cool bro. You don't have a relationship with these women like I have a relationship with my girlfriend-possibly-wife. I'm not knocking it, I'm saying it's different. You can't reconcile the two. They are different lifestyles.

I think those are interesting points. I agree that being open and clear about what you want is important. That said, it's problematic to even discuss this with her because, frankly, if she brought it up vis-a-vis her sleeping with other men, I suspect I would break up with her just for asking. I don't think she is the same way (again, men and women are different, as are individuals) but it's still a tough thing to bring up when you know that the other person asking you the same question would li…

Then let's use this opportunity to have a deeper discussion. If we consider the "beta phase" equivalent to the "slut phase", and also consider that TRP full of guys who harken back "their beta days", why is TRP so insistent that women who went through this phase are ruined for life? If the beta-orbiter phase is the male equivalent, shouldn't these swaths of men be declared damaged goods and cast aside as forever? In fact, TRP "canon" clearly states that weak, pushover men are the ones who will u…

Are you simply emphasizing this point, or perhaps trying to make the deeper point that having children ought to be a pre-requisite for marriage (because your fates are already tied) rather than vice versa?

I think you make valid points but the last sentence feels like a truism - if you succeed, you will succeed. And I'm not sure how I feel about the emotional impact on my spouse - just because a spouse tolerates it, doesn't mean it isn't hurting them (or perhaps they're building resentment and/or will have sex with others too). I would have to find out how she really felt; If my partner was truly ok with it, then great. I do understand/agree that men and women see this differently and some individ…

Another great response. Thanks for the perspective. I do make good money - I run my own business and have averaged about $150k/year before taxes for the last 4-5 years. Looking to grow that substantially to mid-6 figures or beyond in the next few years. Regarding that break - we discussed it last night and haven't ironed out the details, but I don't know how I feel about a full on "we're both single" break. I don't know if I can deal with her dating other people. Yet I agree that dating someone …

I think it's unrealistic to suggest that any woman '~2 smv points below me' would green light a one-sided open relationship. That said, I've never asked, and you might be right (and I would be shocked). It just doesn't jive with my experience, and I'm no naive spring chicken.

It's not about risk. Some people just don't want that. You want a dick in your ass? No? Never tried it? What, you don't want to take a risk? Sometimes you know without trying.

So I use the same statistics you do but give them correct context, they're suddenly no longer relevant? Let's drop the TRP lingo and talk like real people. You'd be hard-pressed to find an attractive woman who hasn't had sex with a guy she doesn't want any kind of commitment from. This doesn't make her "low value" and it doesn't mean she failed. I've fucked lots of women who knew that commitment wasn't in the cards, we had a great time, and they're not disappointed or pining for me. You're actin…

You say they initiate the divorce, but the statistics we're talking about pertain to both-partner divorce risk. If you believe the TRP orthodoxy, the fact that I cohabitated for 2 years with my ex makes it more likely for my marriage to fail, entirely regardless of who initiates the divorce. edit: also, the idea that she "unsuccessfully traded sex for commitment" is silly. Women aren't looking to husband-up every guy they have sex with. If you think they are, you're exactly the kind of guy that …

Thanks for the response. Sounds like you can relate. Mind you, this girl doesn't look 10 years older than me by any means. I share your thoughts about morals and day-to-day treatment and sex. I tell you one thing - I dated another girl for 3 years (21/19-24/23) and the sex with this one is better in every way (more frequent, more enthusiastic, more passionate, simply more fun).

Yeah, fading when you hold up an FB profile photo from 8 years ago against a typical photo from today. I suspect that would be the case with every single woman on earth. She eats healthy (moreso than me), exercises, doesn't drink or do drugs, and goes to bed around 10:30 every night. It's not that she isn't aging gracefully, it's just that you can't sidestep time.

I'm 99.9% sure I couldn't emotionally handle her fucking other people, and I can't imagine it would feel right/fair if it was one sided (I can and she can't).

Thanks for the response! I am aware that "trading" would only delay the same problem, but I feel like I would be more OK with seeing her age if I had been there at the "peak". Maybe I'm over-romanticizing it and not realizing how great what I have is. I suppose it's the difference between driving a new car off the lot (and always having that memory) vs buying it used and never knowing what it was like to drive it on day 1. I think your advice about dating some younger women is on the money and t…

I think she is aging gracefully; she still looks really great, and if her mom is any indication, there's no weight gain around the corner. I'm not posting here because I've lost attraction to her and I can't get it up. I'm just concerned about the future. I guess there's no answer that will make me happy here.

Hey there, This is actually something I've looked into extensively, as I'm a cross-your-T's kind of guy (as you can tell from this thread). This is the study I'm talking about: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3000053/ and it is a direct follow-up to the Teachman study that uses the 1995 dataset that everybody here loves to cite. By the way, I lived with my ex-girlfriend for 2+ years; my current girlfriend has never lived with any partners. So even if the link you're proposing is to b…

My long term goal, on the family side (career aside) is to have 3-ish children, lots of grandchildren, and live the last 20 years of my life as the respected a patriarch of a large extended family. I've done the fucking-random-women thing and it's never been as satisfying as sex with someone I love. After 2 years, I'm not bored of her at all. Was with another girl for 3 years (I was 21 & she 19 when we met) and I remember getting a bit bored by 2 years; this is different.

Honestly, the points he's making are just TRP boilerplate. I'm aware of all this stuff already, it's not gospel, and I'm not interested in debating it with a zealot. I'm looking for advice from individual men who have been in my shoes, not some guy copying and pasting material from the sidebar.

Thanks for the response. Annoying why? I think this is a common concern for men and I'm talking about it openly and honestly. My mom never got fat after two children, and her mother (who I've met many times) has the same body at 60 that she had at 30. Looking at their family photos, doesn't look like she gained any weight in between, either.

For some reason, I can't get into asian women. It's like they're not sexual beings to me.

Ah, I see, so it's better to marry a young girl, on the presumption that she's sexually inexperienced (even though she could easily lie, and I would never know), even though the statistics say that getting married young is the WORST decision. And I should do this because one dataset, 20 years ago, pertaining to people married 30+ years ago (who grew up in a different time), might indicate that more sexual partners are correlated with higher divorce risk, even though a more recent study shows the…

Thank you for this thoughtful and honest response. I am indeed worried about the effect that having children will have. On the plus side, her mother had 4 children and still looks great (for her age). Looking at old family photos, it doesn't look like she ever gained much weight. Glad to hear you're getting more of what you want out of your marriage. On the marriage front - I have told my girlfriend I don't want to get married, and that cohabitation agreement (like a pre-nup, necessary because t…

First of all, those statistics have to do with sexual partners and cohabitation, not age. Second, those statistics use data from 1995; a similar study done on more recent data showed the OPPOSITE correlation. Meaning, women who cohabitated prior to marriage are LESS likely to divorce. The people getting married tomorrow are a very different generation than the ones who married in 1985 to comprise that 1995 dataset. Third, her student debt is negligible (she works + help from family + lots of sch…

She runs/exercises just about every day. Body looks great, virtually flawless. I think she's actually in better shape now than when we met. Keep in mind I'm at the gym almost every day, have a six-pack, etc - she knows there's a standard to be met. This is TRP after all. :) I do enjoy her company. We went for a month-long trip together (which can be a good test) and had a great time. Drama-free. It's not an issue now, but I'm the type of person who plans ahead. She looks great now, but in 15 yea…

1) I think the "leftovers" analogy is toxic bullshit. I've fucked my share of women, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 year olds and more. The youngest were by no means the best sex, or the most rewarding, or the most anything. Also, if we accept your premise, that means I got "the best" of lots of women in their prime, too. 2) How can you advocate for people getting married and having children in their early twenties when statistics plainly show that young marriages are the MOST likely situation to blow u…

I've been thinking about making a product for people like you. It's something between a wristband and a watch, but it doesn't tell time; it simply counts down, second by second, how many seconds you have left to live (based on your age and expected lifespan). Bored? Just look down and watch your life tick away one second at a time. I suspect this would rapidly condition people to waste less time.

Listen up - you need to get your head on straight before you wind up with assault & battery charges that fuck with you for life - and that's AFTER you've gotten out of prison. Over what? Some idiot who "needed a lesson" because of some obnoxious antics in social situations that you could have walked away from? The winning move is to walk away and enjoy your life. Think about it.

I think this is a really interesting observation. Anyone who's seen human nature at work will have noticed that people become more alike (in just about every way) when they spend time together. There's a good chance that your friend's extra bro-time (especially with guys who are probably quite masculine and high-T) is subtly giving him a bit more male mannerisms and demeanor; and, of course, for you it's the opposite. Naturally, this gives him an edge with the ladies. Or he could just be intrins…

Low energy state? Disqualifiers? Rapport breaks? Calibrating properly? Are all your social interactions this contrived and labored, or just the ones with attractive women? Do you do this with your guys friends too? Imagine how creepy it would be if you found out one of your guy friends had some rehearsed, polished semi-scripted "routines" that he's using to manipulate you into into friendship. r/asktrp is not r/pua

This seems like some interpersonal drama bullshit. You must be in your late teens or so, am I right? No, you don't "need to beat his ass". What kind of a response do you expect to this post anyway? Live your goddamn life and don't waste your time thinking about this idiot. If your circle of friends keeps him around despite him being objectively (according to you) irritating all the time, the friends are idiots too.
