Given this dynamic, is it then fair to say that everything you see was built by men? If women are a crucial part of the success of society, why do only men get the credit for actually getting their hands dirty? Why do men constantly try to remind women that they built the world?

Other people have said it, but frankly I don't buy her as a man, and that would throw off my entire understanding of the jokes... like, is her "disguise" part of it? I don't know whether her jokes are that funny, or whether the stand-up industry is sexist, but I don't think this proved or disproved anything regardless.

This is awesome. Maybe now we can have a discussion about this. I'm fully aware of the under-representation of women in various industries. There may be plenty of institutional issues with girls not being encouraged to pursue STEM jobs when they are younger, for example. However, the same must be said of men seeking careers in Vet Science, or Nursing, or Teaching, or any number of other "typically female" careers. If you truly are a feminist that disagrees with this use of private funding to cre…

First: Huh, that's a good point... and then: Damn, that's also a good point.

Goddamn is this satisfying.

But we are assuming that they are assuming that because they are women, others will not punish them for their actions. That's two-level deep of implication right there. Most posts on this sub are "look at this woman doing something bad." ...And that's it. This has become a shitty woman-hating thread.

I agree with /u/augiferkin, not really a PPD, since she isn't using her gender to get away with something.

I don't get it. He was being condescending, she pointed it out, he countered that she was being sexist, she pointed out that she wasn't...I missed the denial somewhere in here.

It makes more sense when you know that the judge had a Spanish accent and the girl didn't; the adios therefore seemed mocking, and that's why her bail was set so high: contempt of court. It was later reversed. Edit: a word. Another edit: a second word.

Because she is a woman, or because she is stupid?

You broke the rule. Everyone breaks the damn rule. To be more clear: ONLY POST IF A WOMAN ATTEMPTS TO USE HER GENDER TO GAIN ADVANTAGE/AVOID REPERCUSSION, AND IS DENIED THAT ADVANTAGE. I see no use of gender to gain advantage or avoid repercussion, therefore, le downvote.

You earned an upvote for content, and a downvote for not following the rules.

Enjoy your downvote. Woman did not use her gender to gain advantage/avoid repercussion. This is not /r/WomenGettingPunished.

I'm saying that in nearly every industry, women make less than men. When you say "Do women do this? The answer is mostly, no." sounds to me like you are arguing that women make less than men because they are poor negotiators. So if almost all women make less, and almost all people who make less than average are poor negotiators, then almost all women are poor negotiators. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just asking if your solution for the wage gap is simply to have women negotiate harder. As …

Sure. And your argument is that all women across the board don't negotiate enough, and that's why they get paid less in a variety of industries, and at a variety of income levels.

So women just need to be more aggressive in salary negotiations? That's why they consistently are payed less than male counterparts? Also, if women routinely neglect to ask for higher money than men, why are men still hired more?

Well, women in STEM do still make 14 percent less than men. That wage gap is smaller than non-STEM, and yes, there are fewer women in STEM, but that doesn't mean that men and women in STEM are making equal amounts of money.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
