The correlation between group rated attractiveness of men and romantic liking was .36 in the computer dance study. It’s important to note that this is not a correlation between the man’s attractiveness to the female on the date and this female’s romantic interest in him. The most important limitation is probably the lack of attempt to make sure the studied groups didn’t differ in pre-existing desirability. This could be problematic given the sample sizes, but I don’t know. I suspect the effect is real though.
