Sometimes the whole “men being dumped for showing emotion” things comes from man decides he will open up, but doesn’t realize that it’s a two way street. Nobody wants to be an emotional dumpster - you gotta have other people to talk about things with, and allow your partner space to share their feelings too. Some guys take frustration with pushback on their dependence and lack of reciprocation as evidence that women don’t actually want them to express their emotions

because some guys will make this a one way street - you become an emotional dumpster because you're the only one they will open up to, and they don't reciprocate listening - i have experienced this more than once

But it sounds like even if someone watched all of their content and didn’t agree with you, you might call them extreme and that’s just your opinion on what’s extreme and what’s neutral

“neutral” and “extreme” are incredibly subjective terms

The person who asked the question on purple pill appears to be deeply insecure about their own ~partner count~ and the easy way to avoid feeling the shame they feel they deserve is to make it somebody else’s problem, in this case by saying women with high partner numbers are more likely to cheat and redirecting the shame that way

Online dating isn’t the only dating that exists and it gives people a false impression of how many “options” in the dating market they actually have. So much of RP’s toxicity comes from the fixation on sex and romantic love over everything else in their life. A lot of RP guys are “I don’t have any friends and I rarely leave my apartment. How do I get a girlfriend?!”. Which is skipping 100 levels of self development

Not the person to whom the question was addressed but I feel strongly about self-help books. Self-help / sales / business books are a mild red flag for me. I don’t think they’re helpful - it’s like astrology in that you take from your horoscope whatever you were thinking anyway. It’s an exercise in confirmation bias imho.

I honestly think the focus on evolutionary biology and biological impulses or “hard wiring” is not useful. We live in a society and whether or not we have biological impulses we agree to make compromises to live in a society and we compromise base needs to be ethical. So frankly I don’t think it matters if it’s normal or not. It hurts women and girls when people externalize these impulses whether or not they’re “normal” so it should not be encouraged.

This is great! So stop trying so hard. Delete tiktok if it’s sending you down a men vs women / what women want rabbithole - tiktok just wants as much of your data as it can get so it will send you whatever will keep you in the app. The truth is women are not a monolith - none of these generalizations will help you and you will continue to be frustrated if you keep trying to see dating as “If I do X, then women will do Y”. A lot of us know when men do this, believe me, it is very common and more …

Those are good reasons. I would say focus on making your life one that someone else would like to participate in - your own friends, hobbies, etc. Once you have that you don’t need to use these tactics because you will come into contact with more people who share common interests.

You will never create a meaningful and honest connection with another person if you are trying to manipulate them into doing what you want. Are you interested in getting to know another person or in finding any person who you can plug-n-play in your life? The goal of TRP is always maximum quantity of women because women = power and status in the eyes of other men. So really think about why you want to be dating someone.

You can keep using the tactics if you want, but if you’re looking for an LTR or any kind of meaningful relationship you’re working against yourself by using them.

Another reason for incel forums to be shut down. They need to be separated because they’re all poison to each other. I don’t know if an incel can really be a healthy partner to another person without having some kind of professional intervention.

Yeah the difficult thing with mental health professionals you often have to try a few before you find a good fit. Regardless, none of these guys should be encouraged to date or even try to in the state that they’re in.

I think this is a fair critique. The problem is if you try to engage these guys on misogyny they often get defensive and stop trying. I definitely think there was too much focus on dating and not enough on becoming an emotionally healthy human being - which is required for healthy dating anyway. I don’t have a good answer - ultimately, most of these guys need professional help.

“the actual truths about dating that women don’t want to hear” ? i have never heard of this content creator but it sounds like this guy is just a MGTOW stand in. if you want to date women i don’t know why you would want to listen to a guy telling women they’re wrong over and over - that’s not gonna be very successful for you but I guess if it’s uplifting or something go for it

Everytime one of them says something about women being crazy, having bipolar, borderline, “moody” I just think of the part from the Office where Michael is talking crazy to Jan and she is (reasonably) annoyed so he goes “let’s be lOgiCaL here”

I was in college when rp/pickup artist stuff was coming out. Some of them would be really awkward but tried to be nice so Id try to let them down easy. But more than a few would talk crazy and be disrespectful I’d just look at him confused and go laugh with my friends. ETA these were mostly guys my age 19-23 but a lot were mid 30s also

Yeah I definitely think there's something to this. For some reason, a lot of RP guys seem to think that part of the "normal college experience" for men is having sex with tons of hot college women - but honestly you'd have trouble finding a *lot* of men who actually had this experience? I think they get hooked on the perception of college that's sold by movies and TV about college and since they tend to be pretty isolated they don't have people around to refute that perception. So yeah they get …

Yeah the problem with the term is that some people take it as a personal attack rather than a criticism of society and norms. Some people hear it and their brain shuts down because they feel defensive.

You've said you realize life isn't black-and-white like TRP, but you've laid out a black-or-white choice for yourself. My advice would be to stop reading "tips" and articles about how to relate to women - if you're interested in manipulating a woman to have sex with you, or being dishonest in order to have sex, then you really need to sit back and think about that. Women are people - there aren't cheat codes to dealing with people. If you're really just interested in sex, get on the apps in your…

100% yes. I actually think this is why people get a misleading impression of dating from online dating. Since all you have of a living, breathing person is photos and descriptions online, naturally there is more reliance on those photos and descriptions. But when you meet people in person, there's so much more that influences attraction. For example, I once worked with a guy who was very average looking, and I wouldn't describe him as my type, but he had a great personality and was very competen…

I get what you’re saying, and I don’t have issues with non parents dating single parents but I don’t think it’s a good idea for single parents to only be going after non parents because they’re asking the other person to make MUCH bigger sacrifices and to be honest they’re unlikely to have a lot of luck. I think it’s fine as long as the single parent understands what it takes to be a step parent / single parents SO. Also, since few parents would admit (or even be aware) that their children are p…

I don't put a lot of faith in studies about online dating because a lot of people swipe everyone right for the validation and not everyone is on dating apps for the same reason With regard to the people seeking hotter people thing - like yeah I get that. I can definitely see this being amplified online because you're out of context. If you meet someone in public, you're comparing them to the people around/in your life (instead of the people you've swiped) and you can see a lot of body language. …

Where do you find that men are less likely to be remarried? https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2014/11/14/chapter-2-the-demographics-of-remarriage/#:~:text=Among%20those%20eligible%20to%20remarry,compared%20with%2052%25%20of%20women.

Personally, I would not date a single dad. I'm in my late 20s with no children and if I'm unable to find someone I like enough to settle down with (and *maybe* have children) I'm happy as I am and I can support myself. I think the issue arises when single moms/single dads refuse to date other single parents - that's when I have a lot of questions

Yeah. When you can support yourself you don’t have to make choices based on what will make you the most marketable wife, including when/with whom you’re going to have sex

Yes. Men seem to not believe it happens often because most men wouldn’t do something like that, but guys that do behave this way do it over and over and over again. So are most men engaging in this behavior - of course not. If you want to be mad at anybody for women being overly cautious about rejections, be mad at the small percentage of men who have put this fear in us

I think the "guy you've already allowed to be in your life" somewhat ignores the fact that when women are murdered by abusive partners, it most often occurs when the woman is trying to leave him.

I agree with simenta - creating space from your parents is part of growing up and isn’t something I would expect until puberty and kids often model the behavior of their same-sex parent so your job is just to model good man behavior.

Women want men to get in touch with their emotions, but not to become an emotional crutch themselves having to take on all that work for them. Therapy is becoming more and more available and men should take advantage of that if they can
