However, it is FAR more uncommon than the claims would make you think. First, rohypnol, which is where the name "ruffies" comes from, has been almost impossible to get in large quantities in the US due to its classification as a non-commercial schedule IV in the 70's. By far the most common cause of date-rape is alcohol alone. Perhaps your friend is allergic to hops? The most interesting thing about the article referenced is this statement: "Although not all battered women meet all the DSM-IV-TR criteria for PTSD, a sufficient number do; thus, a form of trauma treatment is most helpful."
