It's actually more to do with the fact that child services sent these kids back into a home with a high likelihood of abuse. All the cases were children who were in government custody shortly before their death. I disagree with you completely. The entire field of early childhood education is very under valued and needs to have better wages. The low pay means that good educators go back to school and change professions. The people without drive stay in the low paying job and get jaded and do a crappy job. There are a lot of heroes who just love the job but they're not in the majority.

I certainly agree that a lot of early childhood educators aren't very educated themselves. A lot of "early educators" are just babysitters that often do a great job keeping kids alive and happy. If any demographic has a high suicide rate they have a mental health issue, yes. Mentally healthy people don't kill themselves. There is a very high rate of suicide among the natives in northern Canada. That doesn't mean they're all "crazy" but it does mean there's a mental health problem in that community. Claiming there's not an issue is only going to lead to more dead people.

A life sentence is 25 years here(someone pointed out this was changed to 30 years a couple years ago). if you demonstrate that you're rehabilitated you could potentially get an early release. In this case the judgement says early release can't even be looked at for 18 years. Given the nature of this case it's very unlikely she'll get any sort of early release. I looked for more stats but I'm on Mobile and its tough to search and share links. It doesn't seem that there's many stats that separate gender in the Canadian figures(i mostly just looked for injured workers and homelessness) which is pretty good. Lowering worker injuries has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with the "how and why" All the info I base my options on comes from years of reading and watching news. I've also been casually monitoring MOL injury reports for a few years.

Considering Canada has a lower poverty rate ten the US on general I doubt any statistic related to poverty would be accurate. We also have a lower incarceration rate so that won't translate either.
