I don't think it is wrong to have a preference. If someone is ok limiting their dating pool based on certain factors and willing to wait/stay single in the name of those preferences, more power to them. However, I do think there is a difference in height/weight. A height preference is purely a physical attraction. Liking a guy over 6 feet or a girl under 5'3" or whatever means you are basing this decision on a 100% physical attribute that you think looks appealing. Weight is obviously physical a…

I like to think it is because they realize their experience and privileges are not everyone else's and are fighting on behalf of those who cannot. Those in a lower class don't have the time or energy to be an activist, but they still need someone fighting for them. It's the same reason I can by a gay right's advocate without identifying as lgbt. You can see injustice against a group and fight to resolve it without necessarily being in the disadvantaged group. That might be an optimistic view on …

I wouldn't say flooded but there is a decent amount. It ultimately depends on where you are at. Grocery store or something neutral like that, not really. Walking down a busy street, you'll get cat callers but I'm not sure if you're including passing annoyances. At a bar or club, then yes. I have almost never been at a bar and not at least been approached by one guy regardless of how I looked. Especially if I am with a female friend.

I would like my guy to be social and get along with my friends and family in face to face situations. I don't care if he's worth showing off online as I don't have any social media platforms for that. I'm just on reddit and pinterest so it doesn't really apply to me. I can see how this might come up more with younger girls though who are still cultivating their image.

I can see this. Whenever I decide to socialize my friends and I will congregate at someone's home as opposed to going out. When I want to meet new people, my default setting is to meet new people through friends, not total strangers in public venues. I do not really see the value in going to bars or clubs and meeting strangers. Ultimately, even if it is a statistically 'safe' it still feels like an unnecessary risk to me and I just don't get anything out of going to those places.

Yeah, that's in the main post, not sure if it was an edit or was initially included. But based on the OECD except for a handful of countries, women still work more hours than men. I am curious how much that number changes year to year as we move away from single-income households.

This is the same reason I don't accept drinks from strangers at bars. I know why he's buying me a drink, he knows why he's buying me a drink and I would rather not create the expectation that anything will happen.

But isn't that the point? Weeding out guys like that who are just looking for a quick hook up?

I think it's good to see what your partner will be like full time. It's easy to put on a facade for a few hours or even a long weekend. But once you're living with someone the pretense begins to fall. It's nice to see how compatible you actually will be if you decide to get married. If they have a habit that you can't stand, or if they're a neat freak and you're a messy person.

I agree. I think when people first meet it's almost 100% looks. They know nothing else about you. Then as time goes, the number moves and assuming you maintain some effort in your physical appearance your personality will ideally matter more to maybe 70/30.

I saw a lot of this as I transitioned out of high school. I was over weight and nerdy so had a lot of male 'just friends'. They weren't really nice to me, some I would ever say were bullies but I had low self esteem so I stuck around. Once I went off to college I disconnected from them all. I started working out a lot more and had control over my diet so I was able to get in shape. A couple of years down the road, those friends started getting divorced from their high school sweethearts, all of …
