I’m a successful IT professional that was born on a farm in a town without a population sign. We lived below the poverty line most of my young life. I did school work alone while my parents worked second jobs. We had little growing up. Dad drank, etc. I did my schooling, enrolled in college, and now have a decent job, even though I have a lot of student loan debt. This is not always the case. My ex wife owes $14,000 and the attorney general is trying to track her ass down. She also has a warrant for failing to appear for a child support hearing with the AG and is no longer able to renew her license. So this absolutely applies to women and does get enforced. I was in a three year relationship and got my girlfriend pregnant. I was in my mid 20’s and sort of excited. I highly doubt anyone is spending much if any time enforcing this. Yeah, maybe if a single guy, or some clearly mobile woman showing no signs of pregnancy parked there someone might say something. And it’s private property so Cabela’s could probably ask them to leave if they so wished. REI has veterans and wounded warriors parking spots. The majority of people are considerate enough to stay out of those spots if they don’t fit the requirements.

Saw this at the Cabela’s Outpost store in Waco Texas. I’ve seen signs like this for expecting mothers and to be clear, I’m okay with a sign that says it’s just for pregnant women. This policy goes a step further though and I think it’s great. Four and half years ago I would have loved such an inclusive parking space when it was just myself trying to get a spot close to the store with my infant daughter. I feel the wording is spot on.

There are many factors that can play into this that has nothing to do with gender. Hire date, your definition of qualified, the actual position, etc. Certainly there are plenty of cases where a woman is truly paid less than a man for the same role throughout history, and maybe that's the case here. But no matter how many times you tell it to yourself, there is systematic wage-gap like what is presented over and over. There is a proven earnings-gap, which is not the same as a wage-gap.

Kids across the street from me are always out playing on the sidewalks and streets. My daughter isn't old enough to join, but when she is she'll be out with them. They all have PowerWheels cars and they drive them around on the sidewalks. Teens down the street from me have a basketball goal facing the street and they are always engaged in a game in the evenings. When they see a car they move off the street and people in our neighborhood don't drive like assholes so nobody has an issue with it.

Holy crap. I feel for you. My ex didn't even have a job so they could only put her on the hook for a percentage based on minimum wage. She technically owes more because she's also supposed to cover $239 a month in insurance. I can't imagine a world where I would no longer provide for my daughter, even if she didn't live with me. Small town Bealls store in Stephenville, TX. There's normally only a few employees and it happened that yesterday I didn't see an employee anywhere around where I was at. I did eventually walk to the other side of the store and asked the girl who rang me up. People are generally friendly here.
