I replied to a comment asking "who was upset about the porn being available in the first place" with "the people who realize that most of the women who are in the sex industry were either forced or groomed, are abused while they're in the industry and can't leave." And that porn sets wildly unrealistic expectations for what women want, how we should be treated and what "normal sex" is like. You'll be shocked to learn that I've been getting hate-mail ever since and the replies to my comment are a…

I have 4 around the outside of my house— 2 pointed at his house :) :)

I have an 8ft security fence. My house is on a hill, so it sits higher than his, which is why he can still see in. I have cameras around the outside of the house and a couple of dogs. He's not crossing on to my property, but I should be prepared (god willing and the creek don't rise) if he ever does... Thank you for your support and virtual love! This is such a degrading and frustrating thing to experience.

I agree. I've definitely kept track with pictures and screenshots of everything I can... I honestly hope it doesn't come to that, but if it ever does..

When I showed them to the officer he said it looked like "bad pick up lines". Nothing threatening (despite how they made me feel).

YES! I am SO EXCITED about this actually (I love gardening). I'm going to put in a berm right in front of that fence and additional bushes and trees along our property line outside of the fencing. Those projects start when it warms up. CANNOT WAIT!

When I first moved in he was really cool. We even went to a couple of concerts with his friends (mix of guys and girls). When he tried to make it sexual, I turned him down and he handled it well. We stayed friends. It wasn't until last summer that he went nuts and started all this creepy shit (or at least let me see this side of him).

I have two dogs, but otherwise, yea I live alone... My house is pretty secure though. I have 4 outdoor cameras, a privacy fence (that he can unfortunately see over from his porch) and only two exterior doors: front and back and access to the back is blocked by the locked fence. I've approached the police already. Since he's not coming onto my property (he can see in from his porch), what he's doing isn't illegal. It's just gross. They recommended I get curtains. I can't even get a restraining or…

Since he's not coming onto my property (he can see in from his porch), what he's doing isn't illegal. It's just gross. They recommended I get curtains. The officer I talked to said it sounded like "bad pick-up lines". Double gross.

When I first moved in, he was really cool. We actually went to a couple concerts together with some of his friends (mix of guys and girls). When he tried to make it sexual, I turned him down and he was fine at first, we were still friends. This past summer he went bonkers..... Idk if it was COVID or what, or if he just showed his true colors (more likely). I use my number heavily for work, so it's not really feasible for me to change my number—I would have to update hundreds if not thousands of …

This is a great suggestion! I have an 8ft security fence (that unfortunately he can see over from his porch....) that stays locked with motion cameras at both gates, but this would be good at my other windows outside the fence! Thank you for the support and the advice!

If I block him, I won't get the messages and can't use them if this ever escalates (god forbid) as evidence that it's ongoing behavior. I absolutely do not interact or engage.

I've approached the police already. Since he's not coming onto my property (he can see in from his porch), what he's doing isn't illegal. It's just gross. They recommended I get curtains. I can't get a restraining order, because, again, he's not leaving his home. It's not like he's following me or explicitly threatening me—even though I feel threatened. The officer I talked to said it sounded like "bad pick-up lines".

I have outdoor cameras. The problem is him looking in my windows from his property isn't illegal. I've approached the police about his behavior and was told shy of moving, there's nothing to be done. He's not breaking the law. It's a Peperomia Incana of Felted Pepperface! :) It started off as a small little guy and, after a couple years in a good, sunny spot grew into that beautiful beast haha

I've been documenting everything I can, I can't see him when he's looking into my windows (which just makes this all worse) so it's hard to be like "watched me from x time on x date", but I do document every time there's an incident with him, of which, there have been several... I had not thought about reaching out to a DV center, but that's a good idea; I wonder if they would be able to offer any advice outside of "sell and move". Thank you so much for your support and advice... I really apprec…

I am in the States. Yea, I've actually contacted the police about him. Since he's not trespassing, he's not threatening me, and not being destructive to my property, this is the only thing they told me I can do.

His level of entitlement is so crazy to me. Last summer, he was parking his boat & trailer on my property and then yelled at me and threw trash in my yard when I told him to move it.

Thank you :) I love it and would hate to have to move because of this guy... but honestly, I'm about ready to. He scares me and this is not the first issue I've had with him.

He's also an alcoholic—that's usually when I get texts from him is when he's bombed out of his mind. Legit scary dude.....

He's a Grade A entitled creep. I posted about him 6 months ago about how he was parking his boat in my yard and yelled at me when I told him to move it. Cameras went up after that altercation. He honestly, scares me. He's an alcoholic and when he gets drunk, you don't know what he's going to do. It's so frustrating that the police won't do anything proactively.

I tried reporting him. Because he's securely on his property, he's not legally doing anything wrong.

Yea, they're going in this week. I have my dad, but he lives an hour away and my neighbor knows that. I'm pretty much by myself otherwise. I've read some other comments that suggest just calling the police and I think (in addition to the cameras) that's the direction I'll go if he starts acting up again. I really wanted to avoid a "war" with my neighbor, but I can't handle this behavior anymore either.. Thank you so much for the encouraging and reaffirming words and all your advice!

HOLY COW SIS! If someone were peeing on my home, I would be calling the cops, taking video, whatever I could do to get that to stop! I felt the same way with the "it's been going on all summer, how can I tell him to stop now?" Well... I can and YOU CAN because it's your property and your right. Do you have anyone (like other neighbors, friends, family) you can tell about this to get some support and backing? The biggest thing that holds me back from standing up for myself is feeling alone and li…

Well let's think about that.. he has a 6'4 250lb male neighbor living on the other side of him and I don't see him parking his trailer over there 🤦 Honestly, the guy on the other side of him is really nice, maybe I should ask if he can back me up on this lol

I feel so bad for the fiance!! I hope she realized what a jerk this guy was.. you handled that situation so well! I've always been timid about standing up for myself in situations where I don't have backup. I'm 5'3. I'm not fighting anyone off if they come at me lol. I'm getting better though and it feels really empowering and incredible.

Would police be able to do anything to him? He did throw bags of trash in my yard last night. I think that's illegal dumping... Definitely getting cameras installed soon.

Thank you so much for the words of advice and encouragement. I am really proud that I stood up for myself. Part of my yard is fenced in (obviously not the part he's parking in) so extending that fencing shouldn't be a big deal. He did throw two bags of trash over my fenced in part last night. I'm thinking cameras might be in order....

Thank you so much for this response. It's really calming and empowering posting something like this and being met with women who can empathize with what I went through and offer words of encouragement and strength. I don't have anyone in my "real world" life who understands (or who could go to the store with me). I typically go really early in the morning anyway when there aren't many people. That day, I decided (stupidly) to go at probably the busiest time of day... I needed stuff for dinner. I…

I appreciate that.. He definitely gave off weird vibes. I'm sure this is exaggerated, but I kept thinking about "what if he's a woman trafficker and is trying to kidnap me". THOSE were the vibes I was getting from him. Probably just an entitled loser... I still wish I could have stood up for myself better in the moment, but you're right. There's a good chance that would have triggered violence and ended badly.

I really appreciate your encouragement and advice. Mental preparation is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I'm sure we've all imagined how we'd like to respond in these types of situations; I didn't realize how much harder it would be in practice! How did you get to a point where you could clear your head in moments of sudden and intense stress like this?

I normally don't go to the grocery store at that time. I went after my workout because I needed veggies for dinner. I'm hoping if I stick to my normal time (7AM), I just won't see him again. If I do, I can practice some of the advice I've gotten here to tell him to fuck off.

I love the role-playing idea! It's funny, the last few days I've been replaying the scenario over in my head with all the different ways I could have responded. Some of my favorites (that might have landed me in jail for assault?): — punching him in his stupid face and yelling "don't touch me, leave me alone" — kneeing him in the groin and spitting on him — making a HUGE scene to attract attention in case he decided to get angry or violent towards me I don't know that I would ever have the gall …

That might be a good "baby-step" for me :) I struggle because I always try to be honest with people whatever the cost, but in a situation where I don't know how a stranger will react, maybe it's best to just make up a lie and hustle out of there... I need to write some on a handy piece of paper so when my mind goes blank I can reach for it! Haha!

Yaaaa he's an interesting one. This sub would have a field day with him. Every woman he meets, it's either "hey gorgeous" or "hey sweet thang". It's been a struggle to get to a good place with him, but he's my dad... This sub is such a fantastic support group. I wish there were more posts about how to handle this kind of behavior when it's a close relative. I don't want to shut him out.

My dad has been passive aggressively shitty with me for not coming out for the 4th because he had a CROWD and with COVID I just didn't feel safe. Sunday I talked with him on the phone and told him I missed him and he responded with "well that's what you get" and hung up. He called yesterday a couple times (we talk almost every day) and finally texted why I wasn't picking up. I texted "well that's what you get." He BLEW UP! "How dare you talk to me like that. So disrespectful. You're so sensitive…
