If you read the side bar you'll realise that this 'anger phase' is part of the grieving process for the idealised woman he was brought up to expect. I've lived overseas and can vouch that I had the same experience Cultural intelligence is a big thing, people who come from very poor countries just aren't exposed to the same amount of intellectual stimulation in their day to day. Where I lived people would refuse to open the windows even when it was stinking hot because they believed that fresh air makes you sick, it was like the middle ages.
