A few years prior, she wanted to move out and live alone for awhile. I wouldn’t support it since we had two young kids, and I knew it would lead to divorce. In hindsight, if I would have supported some time apart, we may still be together. But, fundamentally, we have very different views of marriage and it probably wouldn’t have worked out anyways. If y’all agree to the same end goal, sometimes space does help. Honestly, if she doesn’t want to be with you, why would you want to stay with her? It…

Childhood trauma. Anything I did over our entire 10+ year relationship that resembled something from her childhood has been brought up during the Divorce.

Emotion and the law need to be separated. Find a lawyer, and find a therapist. Be wise and choose to discuss the legal issues with your lawyer, and the emotional issues with your therapist. The judge doesn’t care if she “hurt your feelings” or “ruined the family”. They only want to determine the legal terms of separation, or what is best for the children. Facts vs feelings. Show that you are emotionally stable.

Bingo. No matter what you do, or don’t do, childhood trauma never goes away. She just couldn’t trust me and realized that she never would. She also knew that I would try everything to keep us together, so she dropped the D word, and 3 months later I was served.
