Yeah I don’t get why lawyers and mediators say I should be paying while we negotiate a settlement. How about no, let’s agree and then I can back pay. There’s no incentive for the higher income to pay before there’s an agreement

You don’t talk to them about it. The waiter/waitress will bring the bill and say “can you split it, I’ll pay for this”. Don’t give them an out. Normal people would accept it, cowards would try to manipulate you. Dating can suck but don’t give up on it, set some boundaries and you can really have a great time meeting someone new
