I feel like the argument about whether sex work is work or not is just an argument used by men to distract us from real issues. Men use the saying that sex work is work to justify the repeated abuse and trafficking of disadvantaged women all around the world. Then, they use the opposite to delegitimize the very existence of woman who find themselves in similar situations by other means. Like a Schrödinger’s box concept, it’s either/or depending on what benefits them in any given situation. It’s …

I aspire to this level of petty. I’m 100% doing this when I finish grad school

I felt this lol. I have a degree in East Asian Studies and people love to mansplain what countries are included in that region and the different historical periods. They’re always so wrong. Thailand doesn’t suddenly become part of East Asia just because you think it’s on the eastern half of Asia. It doesn’t work that way. I just give them a blank face and say, “I have a degree in this” with a silent “Are you SURE you want to fight me on this?” conveyed through eye contact

I’m an I N T J too and I couldn’t bring myself to continue reading that thread after the first couple posts. The cringe was too much. You’re valiant for sticking it out. The only person being roasted is him and it’s him roasting himself by revealing he’s an LVM.

I will admit that I didn’t read incredibly far down the comment section, but I felt that 90%+ of what I read was NTA responses recommending not to share anything with him and to get prenup if she were unfortunate enough to marry him

Possibly, someone could make a post asking for the best movies about FDS queens and then they could be edited into a list as suggestions are added in the comment section

That would mean leveling up. We can’t go around expecting that much out of someone else /s 🙄

Omg you reminded me of this one time all the way back in high school when we were doing an introduction on the first day of school. We went around the room and introduced ourselves and said something we were thankful for. Half way around the room this kid’s turn comes up and he goes, “My name’s ___ and I’m thankful that I’m so attractive.” The room became engulfed in the heaviest and slowest silence I’ve ever felt in my life and it was the hardest I have ever had to work to not laugh out loud. H…

Thank you for the term costume-logic to describe gaslighting. I’ve never heard it before, but it’s a term I’ve so dearly needed to describe experiences. It’s perfect

Nothing makes me less attracted to someone than listening to them whine about their ex and then having to bat off their advances. Like, is that supposed to be attractive? Is it supposed to make me pity you enough to try to take her place? Automatic dealbreaker.

Same! I was once convinced to try it and it lasted for a total of 5 days. I could swipe, but I backed out before any dates and deleted the apps. I’m always struggling with how much I’d rather meet someone organically vs how much I’d like to just be normal and have a bf for once since it seems like that’s the only way to date these days. FDS has helped me be more confident in improving myself and letting anything happen organically. I’d always thought that way a bit before FDS, but it wasn’t a wa…

You are strong, you are brave, and you are loved. His actions are a reflection on his own immorality and any such consequences he earned from his own actions. You’ve done the right thing and stood up to the cycle of abuse. Additionally, incidents like these are rarely one off. By standing up for yourself, you’ve most certainly protected woman down the line from suffering at his hands the way you have. You’re more than a victim, you’re a survivor. You’re not alone.

I really agree with what you’ve said. It’s part of the reason I don’t want kids. However, I don’t understand why a subscriber of FDS would want kids if they also support this line of logic. I’ve so far felt that was a belief of mine that was contrary to FDS, so I’m curious to understand more about how they may or may not coincide more. Is partnering with a HVM just a way to hedge your bets so that you can fulfill your wish of having children with a slightly smaller chance that said children will…

Is she actually sending them though? All it takes is one person to post theirs publicly and it loses its current “value”

The worst part about being gaslit (for me at least) was the rest of society seemed to chalk it up to miscommunication and put the blame for it on me. That’s why it’s so important to spread awareness about this kind of abuse. It helps victims recognize the signs early and hopefully the people around them recognize the abuse for what it is too when their friends/family come forward for help.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
