I know someone who got screwed in the exact same situation. Her lawyer argued that she “contributed to the household” by paying for things at the house (but not directly to the mortgage, as he was the only one on the title and mortgage). This guy owned the house for 3 years before their marriage, then married for only 2 years, and the court ruled she had an interest in the property and he was forced to sell to pay her out. Absolute bullshit. Beware.
