i don't necessarily see boys outperforming girls in science as a good thing. it's important to understand why that gap exists and never assume that it is some innate ability that only boys tend to develop (not that the infographic is saying that). for some reason it is difficult for me to see this as anything but a competition sometimes. i am glad that boys have a niche in science fields, but i am reluctant to celebrate that fact without first addressing the possibility that girls are societally…

I suppose she could, but maybe she's working on something really big that takes a bit of time and meta-analysis. I think it's prefered in cases like this that we extend charity and give her the benefit of doubt. Thats not to say that keeping an eye on her progress is a bad thing, but if we assume too much it could make us look quite foolish.

yeah, i have argued with a lot of feminists and i have never seen any half-knowledgeable one resort to relying on a male feminist. quite the opposite, in fact. many are insistent that they do without, as you mentioned... and quite frankly i think allowing male feminists to argue the same points is just as valid, so i don't see what the problem with number 3 is once you drop the generalization and strawman that they "need" men to defend them.

by your logic if a rape happens to a woman it will be a big deal. yet many female rapes go completely unsensationalized, let alone even reported on. it IS a baseless assertion. women are gang raped daily all over the world and yet the media doesn't bother most of the time. i fail to see what the shortness of the article has anything to do with it. do you want to claim that the article is short because it's about a man, too? do you know nothing of reason? and what about my post belittled the fact…

most rapes aren't sensationalized in the media, it doesn't necessarily mean anything and there are a lot of reasons. don't be the person who makes this ridiculous argument and implies their unfounded claims. if you have something to say, say it outright. say that the only reason people aren't marching in the street is because it happened to a man so we can properly criticize your ridiculous assertion.

well, we're certainly left with little to go on but a vague blurb from a distraught man who only witnessed the matter, but i'd say that if the man being hit were of sound mind and faculties then he could have simply walked away if he felt threatened. attempting the solve the issue through more violence would only provide a false sense of catharsis.

someone with more time might bother to point out the distinctions between what you're proposing and the drunk man's tale. while retaliation may be every persons right, it is seldom in anyone's best interest to exercise that right. she was clearly no threat to him and if he so deemed it a threat, could have simply walked away.

assuming there is some objective good or virtue for men to strive for, i would generally agree with you. however, i am not so sure that that is the case, or that them becoming 'better men' would benefit them specifically in this instance. if such behavior were to be carried to another area of life outside of their little anonymous niche then it might be a real problem, but for the time being i think they are a completely harmless lot that means no harm.
