Except that the incident of false reporting is incredibly low while the rate of people being raped... pretty fucking high. What good does it do to flip a paradigm you don’t like, especially in a context that excludes the possibility of male victims? This is gross from top to bottom.

You seem really angry at women. I hope you can find some peace and clarity there. It’s a burden to hate half the world’s population. And the hateful people you speak of carry that burden just like you.

There’s absolutely monstrous inequality in these societies, huge wealth disparities between the richest and the poorest. There is also gender disparities. If I take the time to look up some statistics for you, will you read them? Some of them, like stats from USAID, are cited as sources inside the very article linked above. They’re not doing this weighted charity arbitrarily. They’re doing it as a result of statistical analysis.

If there’s a preexisting inequality, then preferential treatment of the disadvantaged group is necessary to reach equality. Ideally, equality would just exist regardless. However, how do you propose we cure an existing inequality without giving more care, attention, and resources to the disadvantaged group? If what you’re asserting is that the situation for women in third world countries is the same as it is for women in the first world, i.e. roughly equal already, well then I think we have a fu…

Ok these policies are going to effect countries whose lived realities are very different than Canada and the USA. These are countries where, for example, equal inheritance is still not codified- men get sole or preferential inheritance of properties in 42 of the countries that USAID goes towards. And still, their websites mention that providing equality to all, men and boys included, is their aim. What these policies are targeting is a preexisting inequity between men and women. If you are tryin…

This article title turns my stomach. It’s even worse than this, unfortunately. This twisted woman didn’t actually fear she was pregnant. She manipulated her 15 year old victim into lying to the headmaster about being raped by claiming she was pregnant. “... He told his headmaster nothing had gone on because she was pregnant and he did not want his child growing up in prison.” What in the actual fuck. And the article describes it as sex, not rape, the whole way through. My heart aches for this po…

That is so wrong and horrific. This situation needs to be called what it is, rape, and the woman needs to be held to account for her despicable, criminal actions. Can I take that definition to mean that they don’t have a recognition of male on male rape in the UK either?

Thank you. Coming here and seeing balanced views like yours gives me hope. Otherwise I would have given up trying to understand a long time ago.

I am so grateful to hear opinions like yours here. I am a woman who’s interested in both sides of the equation. I was actually booted off of the feminist subreddit for my mere participation here. It’s a sad thing when we get radicalized, because it blocks connection and understanding. Thank you for articulating this so beautifully, and for being some one I can reach across the aisle to. Ignore the downvotes. The angriest people shout the loudest.

Highly logical people use evidence and rationality to support their arguments, not tautological statements such as, “does not refute my argument”. I’ll go elsewhere for informed debate.

I’d also like to point out that the second article you shared counter indicated your own argument: “The results, which apply to the population as a whole and not individuals, suggest that male brains may be optimized for motor skills, and female brains may be optimized for combining analytical and intuitive thinking.” Thankfully, I don’t draw sweeping conclusions based on limited studies, so I don’t believe this is true. Do you?

Nowhere in any of these articles is the “objective fact” that men are more logical than women listed. If this is untrue by your reading, please quote for me the part where that is described. I am not contesting that there are observable structural and functional gender differences. Nor did I call you a misogynist. I am saying that to repeat the time honored trope that men are logical and rational whereas women are emotional and irrational is insulting and limiting to both genders. This kind of s…

Oh yeah you know just those minor issues, being harassed, abused, and raped. The cause of equality for men deserves attention, which is why I’m in this subreddit. That doesn’t mean that the cause of equality for women doesn’t deserve attention also. These are real issues for women in the world. You don’t have to discredit them in order to make men’s issues important. They can both be important.
/r/MensRights02/09/20 03:24 PM

Ok this is why people think MRAs are misogynistic. “Logical people (e.g., Men)”? That is a view based on a trope old as time that men are more logical and women more irrational. It is a gendered view, and you don’t do your cause any favors by espousing it here.

When the gender dynamics in a society are skewed, both sides suffer. These don’t have to be competing issues, they can be complementary, if people are willing to understand that the enemy is not each other. Rather, the enemy is antiquated structures that we can do away with if we decide to as a society. Why does your byline need to be, “look, here’s some discrimination against men, so I’m concluding that women aren’t discriminated against?” You and I are intelligent enough to understand that bot…

This image is trash, and I’ve never seen anything like it before. Men’s rights are important as well, and the feminists I know and love are some of the first to say that. Myself included. Oppressive gender norms and roles bring down everyone. This is not the way that every feminist, or even the majority, think. I know it can be frustrating when it seems that way. I myself got kicked out of the feminist subreddit for saying something that was true about my own body, and possibly also because I fo…

Yes it’s true. And this woman seemed to communicate that she didn’t even know where to start. As a woman I’ve had some pretty upsetting experiences with men who didn’t seem to care at all whether I derived pleasure from a sexual experience. Was that all men? No way. But it does seem to happen a lot more the younger the guy is. And yes, it’s up to me to communicate in those situations, but it’s also up to the guy to just care about my pleasure. And that is a pretty common experience to young wome…

I agree that communication is important, and part of the issue here is indeed a lack of communication of women to men around sexuality. I won’t argue with you there. I also think it’s up to every one of us to recognize that the things we see in fantasized depictions of reality are not realistic, and could be potentially damaging. The whole “I saw it in a porn so now I think it’s the truth” thing really grinds my gears, because men are not stupid, and it’s pretty darn easy to google around and fi…

There’s some basic knowledge to be had. I remember looking things up on the internet when I was young because I wanted to be a good sexual partner. All I’m saying is, “men just learn things from porn” is not a good excuse. If the bare minimum amount of effort was expended to educate themselves, they would be better sexual partners to begin with when young and would have more of an idea of how to follow through on specific sexual instructions. Yes, women should absolutely communicate what is arou…

Why should it be the woman’s responsibility to educate the man? He can educate himself, there’s something called the internet. Teenage boys don’t have to learn everything from porn, that is a choice. There are a million resources out there. Young women can and do suffer from this effect and it shouldn’t have to be up to them to fix it. After some time having sex with different young men who have absolutely no idea how to (for example) locate a clitoris, you start to think they just don’t care.

We certainly agree on that point. Diagnostic is a good word for it, as it’s impartial. One issue is that when blame gets caught up in the cure, it turns everything to shit for everyone.

There’s a lot of ways to speak out. You guys criticize feminists for making one sided comics like these. All that has been done here is that the one sidedness has been flipped to the opposite viewpoint. That’s exactly what you criticize feminists for, yes? That they’re exclusively focused on their own problems to the exclusion of real world problems that men face?
/r/MensRights27/06/19 06:21 PM

I’m confused. Do you not care about any other person’s feelings unless they are in a relationship with you? Is this for men too, or just women?
/r/MensRights27/06/19 06:18 PM

Yes, it sucks that any of us have to feel afraid walking around on the streets. Instead of changing this comic to another problematic version of events, why not let it die? Men shouldn’t have to feel creepy or uncomfortable and women shouldn’t have to feel threatened, and both have validity in their feelings.

Speaking of facts, penetrating an unconscious person is assault. But no, she was asking for it, because they like, flirted so hard at the party or whatever. And he totally thought she was consenting, because when two people came up to check what was going on, he ran away. That's a normal reaction. But yeah, screw women, rah rah rah, they're all asking for it or whatever. Way to prove exactly the lack of empathy I was describing with the other person (who by the way, deleted their comment, so may…

Hmm, yeah good point, I guess according to the person who assaulted her, she did consent. Next time you kiss a woman, remember, that gives her the right to finger your asshole while you’re unconscious.

You left out the part where he found her on the ground behind a dumpster. You don’t have to delegitimize other people’s victimhood in order to prove that there is an issue here. If anything it just discredits your point of view, because you seem to lack empathy.

I did this and found absolutely zero evidence of feminists decrying condoms, and have never seen that anywhere. The women who decried condoms throughout history were generally religious fundamentalist. This is not the first time I’ve seen some one assert this on this subreddit, and though I asked for a source the last time, it was not given. Do you have a source?
/r/MensRights18/05/19 10:44 AM

Can you source this? I’m just curious cause I’ve never heard anything like this; I’ve seen feminists strongly advocate for male birth control, but never anything opposing. Would be interested to see the other side.

I don’t know either, and I agree with you. Maybe it’s because some people live in less diverse areas, and so it seems forced and unnatural to them compared to their surroundings?

And some feminists would say that MRA is a movement for incels and women haters. It doesn’t do any good to paint people with a broad brush. There are many people in the feminist movement who take men’s issues seriously, myself included.

That is terrible for adults and should change. It’s clear, however, that this is still rape; statutory rape is non gender specific and based solely on age differentials. This qualifies.

You’re so right. And that knee jerk disrespect of people in the opposite group, which you described, is exactly the reason why men’s rights became a thing. Feminists were spending a lot of time denigrating and demeaning men who didn’t agree with their talking points, and on top of that, ignoring the many ways that our society is prejudiced against men. I understand that it’s easy for men’s rights activists to fall into the trap of demonizing the “enemy”, but in my opinion, that’s how you become …

You’re working under the assumption that women get no flack for being naked at the burn, so you’re also speaking from ignorance. You’re not a woman so you wouldn’t know, just like I’m not a man and therefore don’t know. I’ve never gone buff myself but I know plenty of women who have been told to cover up- particularly ones who are bigger, or less conventionally attractive. I hear what you’re saying, but you’re also working from an incomplete picture here.

Saying “I’ve had personal experiences with discrimination while shirt-cocking at burning man” is a very different sentence from your original comment which was “men can’t be naked at burning man.” I’ve fully disclosed that I don’t know things from your perspective, and invited you to share your own. I’m honestly very sad to hear you’ve been shamed at the burn. I always thought shirt cocking was hilarious and weirdly adorable. So you’re saying you’ve personally received negative feedback while shirt cocking? My only point was that men and women can both be naked at burning man. All of my male friends at burning man bared their genitalia with pride, but just because they didn’t tell me they were shamed for it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. If you have experiences that proved to you otherwise, I’d be interested to hear them. I’ve never heard of it being discouraged, but burning man is a big place. The quora source you p…

Oh I’m not talking about all pornography. And I play tons of video games so obviously no. I more often see a typical male fantasy version of porn than a female when looking online. That’s because the male market is larger, so it makes sense. But there are some harmful effects when that’s how people learn to be sexual. They don’t involve a lot of realistic details, and they don’t involve a lot of communication onscreen. Most of the issue there is a lack of good sex ed. That’s why it’s a “she’s tr…

Yikes. She has something to say about the toxicity of pornography, but it’s drowned out by all her ridiculous claims. Why on earth would she name these men and try to get the internet to “do some detective work” and go after them? Two minutes beforehand she was categorically saying her experiences were NOT rape. It’s dangerous to toss that word around the way she is.
