Yes, being 50+ without a family or at least a partner seems like a pretty lonely place to be. Just to be clear I was able to turn my marriage around and am still married to my first wife.

Being with two women at the same time is only asking for trouble. Pick one or the other. If its the other make sure you've legally divorced the first.

Oh and please do not move forward with this woman on the side unless you are 100% legally divorced from your current wife. Getting in a relationship with another woman is a HORRIBLE idea.

Dang. That sucks. I had a similar attitude as your wife when my marriage was on the rocks. It took my wife serving me papers for me to get my head out my ass and get my shit together. It really sounds like both of you need to go to individual counseling (I know you're already going). It order to help her realize she needs counseling you could get an attorney and have them serve her papers and begin the process of the divorce. You could then tell your wife you are willing to put a stay of proceed…

Why does she refuse to go to couples therapy? Have you asked if she'd be willing to go to individual therapy? All I can say is I am in a similar situation. My wife and I have struggled to connect emotionally for the past 3 years. When she needed emotional support she would go to her mom instead of me. This pissed me off and I blamed her mom for our emotional disconnection. I have now come to realize that my wife was going to her mom for support because she didn't feel respected or safe around me…

Go back to marriage counseling. 1) That shit can take months if not years to work. 2) You sometimes need to try multiple different counselors before you find the right one.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
