The idea of rejection doesn't give me a lot of grief, at least you get that "I tried" feeling out of it. An awkward conversation that never goes anywhere would be worse, but something I could laugh off later that evening. Honest answer, approaching is something I've never done before, and new things are scary because they're new.

/r/fitness has a very nice post on dealing with Anterior Pelvic Tilt, Posterior Pelvic Tilt, and a few other things.

I think this is the perfect post for promoting and reinforcing the idea that actually making a move is the most important part. Also, I admire your complete honesty.

"The concept “value” is not a primary; it presupposes an answer to the question: of value to whom and for what? It presupposes an entity capable of acting to achieve a goal in the face of an alternative." Value is completely subjective. No people, nobody with needs to be filled, no goals to be met, no value. There is more to a person's value than the sum of their useful skills; there's the opinion of the person those skills are going to be used for.

Do it until it isn't. Seriously. A couple of weeks ago the though of touching anybody, let along gasp girls, made me anxious. Don't let that anxious feeling keep you back, it goes away.

I saw a pic on Reddit earlier of a guy sitting on the street with a sign that said "Tell me your story, I'll give you 1$" I've been thinking about that for weeks, I really might do that sometime for the heck of it. ... holy shit it works.

Did he have cargo shorts? DID HE HAVE CARGO SHORTS? As an mfa-er I need to know.

"The first thing you need to do is admit you fucking suck shit, dude." I came to that realization about two weeks ago. Humility is good to have. Also, I want his shirt. Does anybody know what it is? Looks like a polo/Henley hybrid, I wonder where I could buy it.

Dude, really? If you're doing it because you want people to like you, yeah. If you're doing it because you like putting effort into looking good, like I do, it's not; having people come up to me and compliment me on my outfit is just a bonus, I do it for me. Just like every other aspect of life, it's the principle of the matter.

Alright, springboard. Once I figure out if a company makes a quality and fitting product, I don't really look elsewhere, so most of this stuff will be from the same five brands. I'm trying to move towards a more indie look, but a nice indie look, not some hipster beatnik trash look, but I do like what I have now. Shirts: Merona Henley shirt. I chose purple, ebony, and brick red. Good for the price. J.Crew tartan shirt. Vintage barn. A little overpriced, but decent quality and fit. Lands' End pat…

Good looking guy here, never had any "luck" with women, and only with the brilliant minds here does it even seem like a possibility to me. Looks are more important to guys than girls; how you act will have a far, far greater impact on how a woman perceives you. That's what this subreddit is about. A nice outfit and a haircut can put you a couple steps ahead of everybody else in the looks department; I have a good face, fairly tall, and am in decent shape (although campus dining has been working …

I don't care for either of them, but Romney gives off a very aggressive vibe, I wouldn't call it Alpha.

I'm not "sculpted," but I can say that actions are more important than looks in determining how attractive you are. Unfortunately for me, how to act in an attractive manner is not something I ever learned naturally, which is why I'm here.

Good looking guy here, never done anything with a girl; only after reading Seddit does it even seem like a possibility. "Better lucky than good" is not true here. Get a nice outfit, work out a little, get a haircut, groom yourself regularly, and you're +3 points higher on the attractive scale.

I've read the first chapter of the book, and the only bullet point in the "qualities of nice guys" list that makes me go "oh, shit, that's me" is hiding imperfections. It's just a huge shock to me that we shouldn't try to use the good to cover up the bad. I mean, who wants the bad?

I'm just trying to figure out the difference between "friendly" and "interested"

You're asking the wrong guy if that's not a rhetorical question. If those are the signs that a girl is interested... I may have missed more than a couple opportunities. This shit is complicated.

Those are the signs that a girl is interested? ...God dammit.

What made it "in the bag," exactly? What let you know that it wasn't just friendly conversation and that she was interested in you?

How does her having her phone out communicate that she'd be ok with you asking for her number? Am I missing something here?

Well you can't come up as a guy who wants something from that girl But I do, though. How do I go about getting what I want without seeming like I want something?

Damn I wish I had found this place when I was your age. 18 years old and there's high school kids with more skill than me. Sigh Have fun with it, HS is probably the best place to get this stuff down, as you're forced into interaction with others.

It's probably my AA trying to justify itself, but I feel like this would be very intrusive and annoying. People go to the library to study, I'd feel like a dick interrupting that.

I don't think I understand the opener, you sit by them, but you don't say hi or anything along those lines? Maybe I'm too green to get it, but that seems like it would be incredibly awkward. EDIT: Is the italicized text what you're supposed to say?

A typical nice guy is someone who tries to be perfect and hide his flaws Wow, really? That's something I should stop doing? I don't know how to respond to that.

Wow, firstly, I'm surprised at how many people are taking the time to write out long and useful posts. I can't go to bars/clubs, 18, and I can't go out to party, either; work the night shift and the morning shift, and never seem to get invited anyway, so method 1 is going to have to be how I go about this, which is similar to how I've been going about everything else; gradually. I've never been the "jump right in" type of person, I like to work at things over time, which I suppose is something I…

I have a good self image; I'm attractive and I know it, well dressed, not fat or skinny. I can start a casual conversation easily enough, but when I start to think "she's interested, escalate now" I seize up. It's just really frustrating seeing people do this without any effort on their parts while I'm devoting as much study to it as multivariable calculus.

Ow, man. That hits hard. That is me, right there. I think only once in my life have I given a girl a physical compliment, for fear of seeming "creepy." I've never held hands with a girl as a result. I thought being forward was bad, so I decided to be "nice." Right in the feels. I don't know where to go from here. I needed to read this.
