I think you missed the entire point of what I was saying. Roninvince was saying that women have an excuse to be violent when they PMS. I disagreed.

If it was a false rape conviction then it would be a CONVICTION meaning they would have told.

New York City. There is a very big difference between being a man in NYC and being a female.

okay I did the math...I'm using the RAINN statistics because they were cited by the department of Justice. I'm also factoring in an average of 8% of false reporting based on FBI statistics (I know its from 96 but it was the only one I could find from a legitimate source.) So lets start off with 100. 60% of rapes/sexual assaults are not reported to the police So were down to 40 people now out of those 40 people lets add on 8% to account for false rape reports so were back to 43.2 If a rape is rep…

DumbNUgly said that many would like this attention. I responded I did not because...(see last post) tl;dr being bound by gender sucks for absolutely everybody involved, and everybody involved is culpable. 110%. Look as queer people gender roles and compulosy heterosexuality particularly effect us. They suck. I understood what he's saying. I'd much rather be a lesbian then a gay man in terms of safety because again how masculinity is constructed. Catcalls and fear of violence is a feminine experi…

Fun aside: Misandry isn't recognized by spell check. Heh. I've googled searched that word like 10 times now :) Oh, and none of my complaints are about children being "feminized" by female parents or anything like that. That's a belief held by some MRA's, sure, but don't attribute that to the whole movement. I know its apart of some section the father's rights movement. My knowledge on gender theory is pretty good but I have minimal knowledge of individual MRA theory. Suggesting that teachers are…

I'm going to be downvoted by this but: hear a lot about how few women politicians or engineers there are. I hardly hear a thing about how few male educators there are. honestly this is not equivalent. Politicians, engineers, surgeons, CEO's etc... these are positions of power. Most teachers are female but most professors are male. Again these are the jobs that shape the world. These are the people with the money that decides what happens in our world. That's not to say that I am for discriminati…

Sexism (and racism) is there its just not talked about. It's mute. Which is possibly the worse kind. My mother is in a class action lawsuit right now because she refused to take time out of her day as a recruiter to fill in for the secretary. None of the men were asked to take time off of their work, just the women. That is sexism pure and simple and it happens more then you think.

true story. There are levels of privilege. But historically women have been the property of their husbands...even the ones that couldn't vote.

Keeping in mind that two wrongs don't make a right, and "Women can be discriminated against" is not really a counterargument for "Men can't teach kindergarten because they'd probably rape the children". I wasn't making that argument at all. You said that women can be heads of state and men becomes a kindergarten teacher its red lights. I was just pointing out how inaccurate that statement was. he'll get a small number of people voting against her because of sex, but she'll get some people for he…

Historically its been radically unequal...considering the fact that women were viewed as property, couldn't vote, couldn't get an education etc... Whatever you feel about the modern state of women is up to you I guess however there is NO denying that men (specifically white men) have held all the power in society.

Statistics are really hard to put out for sexual assault because of the variables. RAINN seems to not over exaggerate. I'm trying to find the exact study to see their methodology but it is the department of Justice so I feel like its probably pretty accurate. If anyone finds the methodology please post a link.

Women can be presidents and prime ministers. If a man becomes a kindergarten teacher its red lights. I can see what your saying in the rest of your posts, but this comment I have to respond. proportionately there have MUCH more male kindergarten teachers then women presidents and prime ministers. In modern history there have been 50 female heads of state

Neither. DumbnUgly just posted why that is a plus for women. I'm just saying as a queer women "plus" wouldn't really describe my experience. And with catcalls too. When I was young I did find catcalls flattering. However now it just sucks. Lots of women avoid large groups of men because they know they'll be harassed (some people say some pretty disgusting things.) And then if you don't respond sometimes they fucking cuss you out. It even got violent with one of my friends. I've had strangers run…

with the balls thing...yeah I don't understand but I've seen my brother get hit with a soccer ball in the nuts....and well...ow...I agree with you completely. But as I said I think kicked in the balls/period and labor comments are just silly to make judgement on from either side because neither simply doesn't know. Also, I can't really comment about periods, I have never experienced one, but I still do not think they should be used as an excuse to justify violent or hostile behavior, in any case…

dude, I'm just reading off statistics. RAINN got it from the department of justice. It seems pretty legit to me. I'm not making the point that all men who are accused of rape are guilty. I'm bringing up the fact that is is a myth that it is really easy to convict rape (most of the time you need a rape kit which you have to get 72 hours after the attack). Also rape is really under reported. However I am in no way saying false rape doesn't happen. Again...just going off the statistics.

I'm going to assume your straight and male (correct me if I'm wrong) but if you made out with your girlfriend and every single time someone made a sexual comment or creepily stared you'd be annoyed too. My sexuality isn't put into high regards. Many of the same people who hoot and holler will turn around and vote against gay marriage.

I am not arguing that false rape reports don't happen. They do and I am for jail sentences if purgery is proved in a court of law. However you have to take in account the under reporting that goes into sexual assault charges. Out of my group of friends 5 women and 1 man have been sexually assaulted. None of us reported it because of shame and guilt that come along with sexual violence. Both are really really really bad. its really hard to site any rape statistics. edit: RAINN's sources seem pret…

Just a response to some of your posts.... If a girl wants to make-out with another girl it's often considered cool and hot, If a guy makes out with a guy, he is gay. You can look at this two ways. On one hand women are free to experiment with their sexuality more and men cannot because of hegemonic masculinity. However as a queer women, I have found that if I am affectionate with my partner many men use it as an excuse for public entertainment and fetishization. Also, many girls will kiss other …

I thought you were saying that feminist groups where no helping international women even when I gave you evidence. thats what I was saying. Men are rational creatures and can think about these theories. Most people don't think about politics let alone feminism or mens rights issues. However women ARE thinking about why they have to choose between domestic and public spheres and men ARE thinking about why they are discriminated against in custody battles. The personal is political as they say. Furthermore feminism and mens rights or "nonsence" as you call it are issues that are important to are integral exist…

that was the most sexist statement against men (and women) I have heard in awhile and proves my point of each gender perpetuating their own oppression. A) its saying that men are too busy and cannot possibly think about philosophy and reason because they're brains are too overloaded (which is entirely not true) B) women are frolicking around in the home doing easy and fruitless work such as cooking and cleaning so they can think about silly things like feminism and rainbows (which again is not f…

okay...my first point is that yes their are scientists who say gender is biological. There are also TONS of scientists and psychologists who say its constructed. Honestly its probably a mixture of both. Secondly I completely agree with your statement about women reproducing patriarchy. I personally subscribe to a focoudian model where norms are perpetuated by normalization and the act of self monitoring. High heals are a classic example. Yes. Yes. As a feminist I would say that all feminists should try to elliminate domestic violence on all forms. Domestic violence is about power. In fact I would say that patriarchy (a feminist princible which I know you don't believe in, but feminists do) hurts men because men are taught to be hyper machismo, to be ashamed, and to suck it up. This is the cause for many men not reporting domestic violence. I would say that structures in place such as gender roles idealize what a "real man" and a…

in regards to her labeling herself a feminist...she hasn't. Feminists for life endorsed her. In regards to the gay marriage issue http://www.now.org/issues/lgbi/marr-rep.html. Yes gay rights is a feminist issue. Now, I already said that wheather or not you agree with those principles is up too you (the rape kit and the equal pay issues). But its just a fact. she's not a feminist and she certainly does not identify as one either. While she is a women in power her policies are very anti women. She is pro-life (although I do think you can be a pro-life feminist), had people being charged for their own rape kits, against equal pay acts, and is against gay marriage. What ever you personally feel about these policies those positions put her in opposition to promanate feminist stances. Plus she does not present herself as wanting to be a president who happ…

I don't know why your getting angry and insulting. I have conducted myself as we are having a thoughtful debate. I hope you continue to follow this. So i'm mistaken in making generalisations, but it's ok for you? what generizations have I made? You and most other third wavers are still regurgitating a bastardisation of an already idiotic skinerian psychology in presuming that gender differences are largely cultural. You are continuing the idiocy of second wave feminists by presuming that any gen…

No it doesn't. Again there are MANY types of feminism that often contradict themselves. I define feminism as the political, social, and economic equality of women. Under that philosophy Judith Butler, I, and many other third wavers think that the main reason for oppression of ALL genders (not just women) is the gender binary. Judith Butler talks about how gender is performative. That even the most cisgender among us are "performing" gender based off of what we learn men and women do. Third wave …

but not every feminist leader is a man hater. Judith Butler, someone he have as an example, too my knowledge has not said anything man hating. Prove me wrong, but a lot of people here quote some extreme 2nd wave radical feminists that are not really revelent to modern day feminism. Plus, there were a LOT of things wrong with 2nd wave feminism in my opinion. They were exclusionary, determinist, often racist, homophobic, transphobic etc... I don't relate to that. Third wave/postmodern feminism nev…

Wait...Queer feminist theory and radical feminist theory are fundementally diffrent. Radical feminist theory is all about biological determinism and queer feminist theory is about cultural determinism. The third wave (said as a student of gender studies) is a LOT about that cultral determinism. Feminism directly counterdicts in many cases. Saying that all feminists are the same is like saying all MRA's are the same. It simply isn't the case.

there are HUGE problems right now with rape and sexual harrasment in the military. The numbers are outlandish (I'll get stats later). Does that mean women shouldn't be in the military or perhaps we should change societal notions on masculinity and femininity.

With the midwife argument: Midwives were formed as a necessary but dishonorable practice. Men weren't allowed to study female anatomy by rule of the church. Doctors replaced midwives when medicalization of the birthing process came into fashion. Midwives were burned at the stake as witches and demoralized as hacks. To this day common birthing practices in western society are just counterproductive (such as lying down while giving birth). Now this comes down to education. It wasn't that fact that…
