It's almost as if when you take a huge group of people... that some of them turn out different than others. Weird.

It's likely not because of your comment. I remember that post and a lot of the comments were pretty much just bashing her. I just had this same ban happen to me and one of their mods explained it a bit to me. They have a bot that bans people automatically if they have post history in what they consider "problematic" subreddits. Which I assume is this one. I think it's kind of absurd but I also can understand somewhat. They probably are afraid of trolls that go over and just fuck with them. I am …

This isn't really celebrating genital mutilation. The joke isn't "lol uncircumcised dicks are the worst." The joke is "I am a bad person because I was given a good man but couldn't get over a physical thing." It's more that she's making a joke about herself than celebrating circumcision.

I don't mean that we need to talk entirely about LGBT issues and make this an LGBT group. I just mean that there are some men specific issues that men in those groups have to deal with. I just find it interesting that they aren't really brought up at all.
/r/MensRights23/05/15 06:05 PM

Fair enough. It just seems like we would hear more about these kinds of issues since men are often the victims in these scenarios.

Issues like gay guys being beaten up for being gay or a guy being ridiculed for dressing like a woman. These kinds of things are not really talked about a lot. Do we have nothing to say about it? I feel like as men they should be happy to be a part of this group. As of now I don't feel like we ever even bring them up. I don't inject it in because I hadn't thought about it until now.

But it's about men's rights. Wouldn't we want to represent rights for all men?

Thanks. That's the same general feeling I was getting from it. I just kept hearing people complain that MRAs are stupid because look at how much they hate this movie. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a thing that most MRAs really gave a shit about.

I can see your points for that. Especially the endless supply of gas they seemed to have in this one. haha. However, I think that Max is mostly the "main" character in name only. In the 1st and 2nd movie he was just kind of along for the ride. He had barely any lines and just kind of helped whoever was around. I felt like this one was pretty good at bringing that feeling of him just being along for the ride. I liked that.

I agree. I am pretty open about being an MRA. I just feel a weird need to say "despite what you've probably heard in the media the MRA movement is not about oppressing women" and then I need to try to explain some of the points. I will still get people that try to argue with me and tell me to "check my privilege"
/r/MensRights20/05/15 06:20 PM

I have tried that a lot and even the people who do not considering themselves feminists have a bad view of MRAs.
/r/MensRights20/05/15 06:17 PM

Agreed. It's just hard to talk about being an MRA when people see how they are portrayed on tv and movies and think that all we want is for women to get back in kitchens and shut up.

It's hard to call yourself an MRA when it has such a fucking stigma to it.

I have roomed with a few women and more often than not they were better roommates. They were easier to get along with and more clean. They didn't bug me if I didn't want to be bugged and they knocked on my door before coming in. I only once slept with my female roommate and it was fine for the most part. We didn't like continue having sex or anything we just did it once and fooled around a couple times before and then just moved on. I would recommend living with her. Sounds like a sweet deal and…

That's the misunderstanding that i'm explaining though. Feminists don't all want just women to have more rights. For the most part they want equality for both sexes. Most the feminists I've meet want equality not to have more power. If you say that if they really wanted equality they wouldn't be just about women then what do we want? We want equality right? Why are we only about men? The answer is we aren't. We aren't just about men we are about representing men in the struggle for equality. The…

I agree entirely. When I see the way MRA's are portrayed on TV or Movies I get upset that they would just make us all look like sexist assholes with our only goal being to spite the feminists. Then I look at some of the things on here and think "well no wonder they think that way about us." To be honest the MRA and the feminists SHOULD get a long splendidly. We have the same end goal. We all just want equality. MOST feminists would mostly agree with us and our views and there is a reason that th…

The rest isn't irrelevant. I'm sorry you don't want to discuss it and you don't have to. But the rest of us are allowed to discuss if selective service is something that should even exist. It would be better if nobody had to sign up for it. That would be my answer to that question. But if men HAVE to sign up then women should have to aswell.
/r/MensRights29/06/14 01:09 AM

Divorce vs selective service is way far off. You willingly decide to get a divorce. If you get a divorce you aren't potentially giving away your life. You aren't signing away your body for the use of the government. That's a really dumb comparison. I'm not saying that Women shouldn't have to sign up. I think that if men have to sign up then so should women. However I think overall nobody should have to sign up. So if it came down to it I'd much rather see no selective service rather than see eve…

Look at our entire prison system. People are going to prison for years for having a little pot on them. People are going to prison for years for downloading music. The prison population is insane. All it's doing is turning nonviolent offenders into violent people. Let's re-address some of these laws we have and their minimum punishments because they are insane.

I liked the guys comment about just removing Selective Service. I also liked his point about why we are fighting the wrong fight regarding Men vs Women's conviction rates. Some people focus too much on making it so that women get the same type of conviction rates as men when we should be focusing on having lower conviction rates for men. It's like saying "this thing really sucks for me but not for you so I want to make it suck for you more so that we are even." Instead of saying "this really suc…

I never said anything bad about their loved ones. I never insulted the people that had to watch it. I was making fun of the people who would compare their pain for the pain of those who died.

well I'm sorry it was hard for you to understand my comment. Nobody here is saying that but a lot of the times you see a post like this you will find people acting like we should feel bad for one or the other. My comment was mocking that because I understand that though there are people who were traumatized over this situation there are still other people who can't be traumatized because they are dead.

The joke was not saying that we shouldn't feel bad for the family and friends of the victims. It was saying that we worry more about the wellbeing of the friends and family then we mourn the loss of the victims. I was saying that people will go about ignoring the men who died and will feel bad for the people that were there. Let us not forget that people died here and they are the victims.

I usually agree with you that there are too many people on both sides that want to make it a competition between who has more problems instead of trying to work together for more equality. However I was just trying to make a joke at the expense of the usual feminist reaction to a story like this. Maybe it wasn't the best joke but it's really not too far off from how many people would react to this. I do agree with you that some people on here focus too much on "well feminist would say/do the sam…

But those poor poor women clearly suffered more because they had to watch! They have to live with the trauma! Those pig headed men probably deserved it for all the rapes they did.

Because it's not a "very large group of people" saying it. It's a few insane trolls. If you simply go look at twitter and check out the trend most people that are using the hashtag #endfathersday are people saying that it's stupid to want to end father's day and that they don't think we should.
/r/MensRights13/06/14 06:44 PM

To be fair I just checked twitter for the trend and most of them are people saying things like "This is stupid. I don't think we should #endfathersday" Although just by using the #endfathersday they are contributing to that trend. But simply looking at most of the tweets most people disagree with the few radical trolls.

Well to be fair if you go through most of the shit that company and their sister sites(kotaku, io9, gawker, etc) you'll see tons of things that contradict other articles.

As much as I really hate Jezebel and think most of their articles are sexist shit I have to point out that this woman writing the article did not say she thinks that way. She said "have you ever seen these and thought this" type of thing. I can't really say she believes it(even though she does say "probably" and seems to imply she agrees with it to a certain extent. But to be fair she does not actually say she feels that way.

I agree with this. It didn't come off to me as 'this is great because women are finally better then men!' it came off to me as him saying it's great that we finally live in a time where this is possible. It's not that bad.

I agree. I also don't see a problem with occasional good natured ribbing. If they want to make a couple jokes at the expense of men I don't mind. As long as I can make a joke at the expense of women from time to time. And for the most part I can without feeling the wrath of feminism. I personally don't have that much of a problem with this ad.

1st of all refering to a man as cowardly and a bitch doesn't not imply women are cowardly. I don't mean bitch as in women as the word bitch does not always singly apply to women. Also I don't know what the fuck video you are watching but I saw one where the man comes back.... stands there and clearly waits for her to turn around. He did not start to launch at her as she turns he very obviously comes back and stands there and waits for her to turn around. He doesn't make a move to attack until sh…

No I am not saying that my argument is that HE shouldn't have sucker punched HER. I agree that if she wants to fight she has to expect to have the other person fight back. I think she deserved to get socked in the face after she punched him in the face. I don't give a fuck that she is a girl that has nothing to do with my argument. I am simply saying that the fact that he walked away and then came back after she turned around was a bullshit move. It seemed cowardly and a bitch move. It seemed as…

no you are missing my point. I don't give a shit that she was a woman and he was a man. That is something that in my opinion holds no meaning to my argument. My point is that he went back and attacked her despite leaving the situation and her attempt to leave the situation. It wasn't necessary for him to hit her in the face because he didn't hit her in the face he waited for her to turn around and snuck in a punch when she wasn't looking.
/r/MensRights24/11/13 04:26 PM

you misunderstand. Any person that is walking away from a situation while also verbally abusing somebody isn't an intimidate threat of harm. If she started to approach him that'd be different. But she was walking away so she isn't much a threat anymore. Unless she were to start to head back toward him then that's different.
/r/MensRights24/11/13 01:00 PM

You're missing my point. retaliation is not a sound reason for any mature adult to attack. I'm not saying that since she is a woman she shouldn't be able to be hit. I'm saying that since she was walking away and he had already walked away he had no reason to come back and continue the fight further. Had he not come back and hit her the fight would have most likely ended and she may very well have just left. Instead he came back and punched her which made her flip out more and become more of a bi…

I agree. The fact that she felt like she could punch him without retaliation was bullshit.
/r/MensRights23/11/13 07:04 PM

I don't disagree that she got a cheap shot on him first. I don't think that she is faultless at all and she certainly deserved a punch. But he took his time to retaliate and clearly waited for her to turn around before hitting her. That isn't him defending himself or anything that's him just waiting for her to turn around then punching her in the head. How is that okay?
/r/MensRights23/11/13 07:03 PM

Verbal abuse does not equal physical abuse. If she was walking toward him verbally abusing him then I'd agree. However she was turned around and walking away yelling at him when he ran up and hit her. That wasn't preventing further attacks that was instigating more.
/r/MensRights23/11/13 07:01 PM

Based on the footage she punched him out of nowhere and he waited until she turned around and punched her back. This isn't a talk about Chivalry. I'm not saying that was not very polite of him I am saying that he had no reason to hit her. She turned around and was walking away when he ran up and hit her. he wasn't defending himself or reacting to her hitting him. he waited until she turned around and then hit her.
/r/MensRights23/11/13 07:00 PM

I am not saying that he doesn't have any right to defend himself. But a woman walking away verbally abusing a person is not a threat of harm anymore. She is walking away. If she started to come back I would be all for him punching her before she even had a chance. But she turned around and went to walk away and he punched her in the head. There was no reason for it.
/r/MensRights23/11/13 06:59 PM

at the time he hit her he was no longer acting in his own defense. She didn't continue the assault and both of them were walking away. This fight was over and he continued it. That is not acting in your own defense. That's just being a shitty human in general.
/r/MensRights23/11/13 06:17 PM

I'm not criticizing him for not fighting fair I'm criticizing him for continuing the fight when she was leaving. He got hit and walked away and she was walking away and he came back to sneak a cheap shot on her. I agree she shouldn't start a fight if she can't handle being in a fight. However this wasn't a fight this was her hitting him in the face and then him sneaking a cheap shot on her after she turned away. He didn't do what he had to do to survive a fight he did what he wanted to do to get…

Not sure how I feel about this one. She had no right to pull any of the shit she was pulling but she was walking away and he took a cheap shot at her with her back turned. Not something I would approve of by neither man nor woman.

Is this the same case that had people up in arms about how the court system was just charger her because they were gay? I remember a bunch of people getting pissed and acting like this was a gay issue and not a statutory rape issue

it used to be a religious activity. It isn't as much any more as it has become the norm in society. It's the idea that a body modification to a male is required in order to be "normal" looking. Nobody does it to hurt their kids but they do it because they fear their boy will be shamed or embarrassed if they don't look "normal". This is a mentality that shouldn't be allowed. This is how the male anatomy is naturally and it is terrible that people feel they need to alter it because that's just wha…
