Sounds like both of you are being manipulated, stick to the divorce agreement and the divorce agreement will stick. If you give up custody prepare for a whole new legal battle over support and the inability to do anything the next time your daughter calls crying from her primary custodian’s house.

Going through basic puts any person into a manufactured stress that bonds them to their unit and isolates them from their familiar social structures and support systems. Big life changes are on the way for anyone going through that so don’t beat yourself up. There’s no telling what happened or why without spying on her in therapy sessions. If you stay the course you’re on, one day you won’t feel a need for another person, and that’s the day you’ll be confident and emotionally available enough to…

Sell the shit, adopt the animals out, focus on the kids. You can have a very happy life with 6 kids and a clean(ish) house. Once you have your little Brady Bunch under control you will find space for another person. Definitely hire some help with 6 kids if you can.

Whatever the reasoning for a split, coparenting doesn’t mean on-call babysitting on top of standing plans to do that for her once a week already. This is a roommate now, treat her like one. Also get your own week night ASAP and find something to do, literally anything, so you don’t go crazy.

Thank you, I changed everything once and I don’t mind doing it again. I like the pay Dad idea that might fly. I have no illusions that I’m faultless.

Thanks for reading my panic attack, it IS a business now and I’ll have to remember that. I can do business.

I think what you’re talking about is something women want as well in a LTP but it’s not something given freely by men or women due to a built-in personality trait. If you behave like a real partner and not a man-child then you can earn this treatment, but you can lose it just as easily by slacking off. Build trust and respect and you get ride-or-die as a bonus.

I think this is one of those things that’s true in some senses and false in others. I mean, if your unhappiness comes from loneliness then yeah, a good relationship will solve the shit out of that problem. If you have unresolved baggage and draw your self-worth from external validation then you’re in trouble and a relationship might make things worse since it feeds an unhealthy need.

I think for most people it’s a bonding activity and, for women especially, emotional connection is a big part of the attraction and pleasure. Obviously, this doesn’t apply to every person, but sexual intimacy requires a lot of vulnerability and it’s hard to feel safe with a stranger.

I’d say they’re just not that interesting and probably not worth your time if you want a relationship. If you’re just trying to get it in more power to you, carry that weight and try to have fun with it I guess.

Less formal, just get to know them, their college, their hobbies, their work, their hopes and dreams, their plans. Listen, make eye contact, don’t interrupt, ask a follow up question. You really don’t have to say shit just make them feel comfortable talking to you and they’ll tell everyone that you’re the best conversationalist of all time. It’s like a cheat code, but you have to take a real interest, people smell bullshit.

Forget tech politics and football, ask your date about themselves and look at them while they talk. Active Listening and a couple jokes beats six pack abs every time.

Because most people are assholes, including the guys that pursue them. You’ll run into more women than you know what to do with over time, give it time.

“Standard” places in my area are bad places to meet people anyways. If you want to work on social skills Forget the virgin thing entirely and take sex off the table for a little while. If you can do that you take some pressure off yourself and it gets easier to be gregarious. I was a real late bloomer too but it’s like sales, you have to take your ego out of it and push through your self doubt. That was my biggest challenge, just being willing to try when I thought I had no chance. Now I’m engag…

Been there, had a serious dead bedroom with my long term ex after about 5 years. Took me a year and a half to figure out I had to communicate better and put more effort into creating sexual tension and excitement rather than rolling over and just expecting things to happen. Something WAS wrong for sure, I just didn’t know it until it was almost too late. For me at least, what was missing was the effort, and showing that I was willing to work on that worked wonders. For a while anyways haha

I definitely didn't mean to be insulting so I'm sorry about that. From my experience, I had to get accustomed to talking to a stranger before I could approach women because it was easier when i wasn't trying to get laid. Someone you actually want to sleep with is going to want to talk to you first, I've recommended working on that in low-stress environments without sexual goals so that you will be good at it. Just remember you aren't there to make lifelong friends; if you don't care about emotio…

That’s a fair point that I didn’t consider. They only work for pickups if you can use them to assist you in meeting people. I think if you expect to improve, you need to accept that there will be failure along the way. That’s not a bad thing or even a likely outcome if you aren’t trying to get laid immediately. The only thing keeping you from engaging with people is your fear of rejection. That’s entirely natural, I’m a sales person and I feel it every day. No matter how socially adept you are, …

The first few times were trainwrecks, well, the first dozen times were trainwrecks. As hard as I tried to "pickup" girls, using other people's lines and trying to be a comedian right off the bat never felt natural to me. I had a head full of different ideas and strategies and none of the pieces I had collected seemed to fit together. I found success when I stopped trying to pickup women and I started trying to enjoy meeting new people. I went to a Trivia Night at a busy local bar, I went to a Vi…

Boredom and loneliness Basically starting is the hardest part, every good and bad experience you have afterwards will make things easier for you. Don’t worry about results because even though a result is your goal, you should expect success to require a lot of attempts. Eventually you will either get good or lucky and land your first “successful pickup”, whatever that means to you. Don’t stop, you will always have room to improve, Once you are comfortable with yourself, this won’t be work, it’s …

I don't think anyone knows what they're going to say that far in advance of meeting someone. Catch up, ask questions, make a joke or two, whenever you are talking your essentially playing solo on your best instrument, your voice. We do it all day with everyone around us, the trick is not stopping when you get nervous. The easiest way to do that is to have a good time and stop filtering yourself. Be Yourself really just means Say What Your Thinking, leave out the OMG SHES SO HOT WHAT DO I SAY and…

Personal Fulfillment. Do something well, take pride in it, whatever it is. You could be a great professional window washer or a skeeball expert or a financial planner who gives a shit? If YOU give a shit then owning it and pursuing it somehow will give you a lot of satisfaction. Being happy by myself was the hardest part for me for a long time. When I started going out more and hanging out with friends and meeting women it didn't really change much. I even got laid plenty but I was still depress…

Definitely still miss her some days, if you make it that far you either hate each other or really like being around each other. It was a little of both with us but after we split I realized we had done everything together. I had to relearn how to do everything on my own, when I write that down it seems like I had a stroke and that's kind of what it felt like for the first month or two. I dated for a while but still checked her Facebook and asked her friends about her, I really hoped we would get…

This was me a year ago after an eight year relationship ended in her moving across the country. It's gonna suck for a while, especially the most helpful part, no contact. Your brain is literally addicted to her, oxytocin is a bitch and you get a hit every time you peek at her Instagram or Facebook or whatever. Cut your brain off and get used to making your own memories, and pursuing your own interests.

Don't focus on your "flaws" being honest upfront about your living situation can take out huge amounts of stress and often they will share some of the same problems. I was in a similar boat with the lack of motivation and honesty with my dates and SO's has helped me find the right ones I believe.
