Unfortunately that sub has a "toxic positivity" problem where they assume physical characteristics of the poster are set in stone. It might be a rule to not comment on those characteristics, but it's frustrating seeing obvious things holding someone back and the responses being "dress nicer" and "your prompts are too boring". Problem being, if they lost weight that same outfit would be considered "dressing nicer" and those prompts might be viewed as "engaging"

That's a really good analogy. I'm in Cyber and I've seen the same thing. People going from dozens of recruiter emails a month to a couple here and there feels like the end times, but it's actually still better than most other fields. My coworkers doom about the future only because they saw how incredible things have been in the recent past. People emotionally respond to the variations in their circumstances, more than the objective experience at any given time. The way women catching up to men i…

And so many transformations are literally just them finishing puberty, but they play it off like they warped their bone structure through crazy techniques you need to learn from them. Their before pictures will literally be from high school so yeah, your jaw changed, you're experiencing puberty. You can pretty safely disregard anything that isn't the obvious "lose weight, build some muscle, take care of your skin" stuff that is already pretty self-evident, but it's easier to extract content out …

So self-assessment shows attractive people view others as more attractive, and importantly the reverse as well; people with a low self-assessment view others lower as well. It seems to confirm that a negative view of yourself can get projected onto how you see the world, leading to a downward feedback loop where you have fewer options AND you rate the options you actually have lower than others would. I know the study has limitations, but that's an interesting idea to get explored further. The o…

Training jaw muscles isn't a substitute for bone structure. Large masseters (Like all muscles) become more round with size and you will generally look worse if they get larger. Every looks-maxxer you see posting their "progress" is almost always them going through puberty combined with losing weight. There's variation with shape person to person, but you can't just grow your way to a Henry Cavill jaw. Actors get botox specifically to shrink masseters and show off bone structure, revealing the ja…

It's oftentimes men projecting their own lens of attraction onto women that leads to that problem. Men are much more likely to overlook personality if they find a woman attractive, and they often assume women are exactly like that. Women will talk about how crazy they are about nice hands, or a guy who plays piano, and men don't intuitively understand that. I remember a woman telling me once that the way I took my watch off was a huge turn on, and I just couldn't wrap my head around that

The red pill would be taken more seriously if its supporters understood statistics at a basic level when making declarative statements

I was probably just a bit older than the impressionable target demo when the redpill really started taking off so it never really got a stranglehold over me. That said, while "SMV" and some other things came across cringey, I could see the merit in maximizing your attraction and learning "game" in the form of developing confidence and conversational prowess. From my perspective, it seemed like it was a version of male self-improvement but built around the female gaze to specifically maximize rom…

Yeah men kinda "brute-force" their way into being attractive when they're young by just being youthful and exercising. They often grow up thinking self-care/skincare is feminine or gay. Then they find themselves in the triple-whammy of aging skin that hasn't been taken care of, falling off their gym-routine/diet (especially after leaving college and not being surrounded by their peers), and of course hair loss (assuming they didn't mitigate with minox and microneedling because, again, men often …

Yeah I had a buddy in college who started getting obsessed with the gym to become more desirable( he's on the spectrum), and I warned him that "working out and having a great physique should be the LEAST interesting thing about you". I think a lot of it comes from men projecting their idea of attraction onto women, when they actually approach things quite differently. A lot of men could see a woman with the "perfect" body and look past a bunch of things to justify a relationship. Most women coul…

I saw someone unironically recommend the "Gallon of Milk a Day" to someone who wanted to start bulking. There's so much "eat big to get big" broscience still out there

So many guys get started at the gym to "get big", thinking that's what they're missing, but they bulk up and then never learn how to cut back down. They end being literally overweight but with a big bench press having no idea they are, generally speaking, less attractive than when they started

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
