Please submit this to one of the main reddits. I think it will be funny enough to get attention.

Most likely not, but I'm willing to make some exceptions if she isn't too insane about it. Just like I could date a girl who is a Christian, but if she brings up "Christ" on the first date, I know that she's so into it that it's not worth sticking around. Similarly, if a girl brings up feminism on the first date, I know it's time to walk.

In many people's minds, a PUA is somebody who tries to trick women into sleeping with him by pretending to love her and then says "Gotcha!" and leaves to find his new victim.

How to ruin a marriage for women: Get ugly. Actively make his life worse by interfering/nagging. How to ruin a marriage for men: Get ugly. Passively make her life worse by not paying her enough attention, agreeing with her opinions, or making her feel better. It's odd how women ruin a relationship by going out of their way to do so, but men ruin a relationship by not going out of their way. Why do men have a higher burden?

It's a reference to Animal Farm: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." The phrase is purposely illogical, to capture the depth of corruption and deceit that the animal society was reduced to once greed took over. The phrase is often used in other contexts to compare people to the pigs in the book. That is, they claim to be for equality, yet they are actually pushing their own agenda in the name of "equality".

This is true. I'm a physics/math student. I was preparing to go to grad school and earn my PhD in Physics. All I ever hear from the grad students is, "don't do it, it's not worth it." I have professors that are simply geniuses. Some of them finishing high school at 16, earning multiple bachelors' and masters' by age 20 at Ivy League schools, and doing groundbreaking work for their PhD's. Despite this, some of them earn less than an engineer who's been in industry the whole time. I'm now consider…

I don't care about social issues, I want legal equality for males. This includes fixing male-only draft, different sentences for the same crimes, child custody and child support, overzealous sex offender laws, and punishment for false rape accusations. As far as relationships are concerned, this isn't even a social issue, it's a personal issue. If a male (or female, for that matter) wants to be dominant and have a submissive partner, they are entitled to that choice, as long as their partner agr…

From the comments: You're right. Violence is violence. And violence is usually wrong. But I can tell you that I don't feel one ounce of shame for what these women have written for the simple fact that too many of us have experienced the soul shattering fear that comes when you realize a man is evil enough to want to rape you.

Females make up 57% of college students. Why do they need even more of a "leg up"? Obviously he's free to donate to whomever he wants, but this reminds me too much of affirmative action.

I linked you to a subreddit. That subreddit was my subreddit. Most of the posts are by me. So no, nothing specific, you can choose any of my posts there. I created it when r/MensRights became too anti-woman. It never caught on, but the competition forced MensRights to clean up its act a little, which was my backup goal.

Yup. I've been pretty angry over the last few days since I was banned by one of the feminist moderators. If you look at my older stuff, you realize that I started off fairly reasonable but slowly got more angry and confrontational as time wore on. I've been debating the same topics for over a year now and I'm just sick of the bullshit. Still, though. Confrontational tone doesn't excuse a year of answer avoidance.

I think you're being a little oversensitive Perhaps. But you're the 8345801843rd person to point out that I sometimes speak in generalizations. I'm going to keep attacking people who do that until it catches on that "Hey, he's right. Nobody needs to point out generalizations because we can all identify them for ourselves! It's neither insightful nor informative. In fact, there are many cases in which generalizations are effective as linguistic shorthand or rhetorical emphasis."
/r/MensRights16/02/10 07:31 PM

Oh yes. The whole "irony" thing. I guess it's "ironic" that I'd use a generalization while talking about false dichotomies if you want to consider it unexpected that somebody would use a generalization while talking about false dichotomies.
/r/MensRights16/02/10 06:51 PM
2

There, I fixed it for you. For future reference, I assume that the average redditor is intelligent enough to realize that what I say is "my opinion", "generally true from my experience", or "often true" and that I don't need to specify it. Linguistic longhand and pedantry be damned.
/r/MensRights16/02/10 06:32 PM

You found a generalization! You're so clever! I learned something new today. I obviously didn't know this mystical knowledge about generalizations and recognizing them like other big kids. Next time somebody says something like "dogs are bigger than cats" I can coolly interject with "Hold on there, mister! That's a generalization! There are some cats that are bigger than some dogs!" Maybe I can also use hip phrases like, "Well that's just your opinion!"

Many feminists argue things in terms of black and white. It's either rape or not rape. It's either oppression or not oppression. It's either sexism or completely fair. The answer is grey areas, in terms of worst to best: Rape > Violation > Not Rape Oppression > Disadvantage > Unfairness > Equality Sexism > Prejudice > Bias > Egalitarianism Now the debate is framed in a better way. A man can both be innocent AND a woman feel "violated" without an argument of "is it rape or not rape?!" Not all vio…

Because I tried questioning feminists and they would never directly answer anything. Asking their opinion was "trolling", debating them was trolling, questioning them was trolling. I came to the conclusion that it was bullshit and that they couldn't actually back up anything they said, or else they would have done it in the past year that I've been debating the issue. Now I'm just fed up, I blew up today and don't care about their opinion anymore.

Because feminists are privileged in the public domain, and to poke fun MRAs' power is like rich people poking fun at poor people's power. By this logic, we should allow cheap shots on men when men are privileged. I believe in men's rights because I believe in equality: A rule-set that we all abide by regardless of our power, not special rights for special circumstances.

I noticed this today when I was looking through the US Dept of Justice website. I was trying to compare violent crimes against males vs violent crimes against females, but the only paper I found focused almost entirely on intimate partner violence (PDF warning). This should be an Onion headline, "Women complain that men's standards are too high, making it impossible for most women to get attractive, single, well-paid men." That was always the problem with the "Shallowness" argument anyway: You can't call somebody shallow for limiting your access to high-status people. There's always somebody willing to date you, if you don't want to date them, then you can't call others shallow when they won't date you.

There's a joke at my university among the physics students: "There are only three branches of real science: Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, and Thermodynamics." There's a spectrum of "purity" from physics all the way down to stuff like psychology and sociology. Where you draw the line between "hard science" and "soft science" is somewhat arbitrary.

Here's the distinction I draw: Hitting a girl is just as bad as hitting a boy. Beating the fuck out of a girl is far worse than beating the fuck out of a boy. I say we go back to letting kids beat the fuck out of each other. Eleven year old kids aren't going to do any serious damage. The only reason we look down on it today is because we want boys and girls to be the same. At an all-boys school, I'd expect schoolyard scraps to be more acceptable.

I've posted on this subject before and you hit most of the points. One that I'd like to add is power. The PUA strategy is to create a small power imbalance in the male's favor. Then use this advantage to move toward either sex or a relationship. The Redditor strategy is "we're all equal, there's no such thing as power." If you want to argue for a matriarchy, then argue that 51% of the population is female and makes up 53% of voters in the U.S. If women wanted to be represented, they could easily run for office and have the majority vote for them because of gender. I agree. Men's rights isn't just the mirror image of feminism. Just because they whine about things doesn't mean we need to do the same. We have our own issues and our own struggles that may or may not have parallels to feminism. Don't fight your battles on their terms and within their definitions.

Good. The more "sexism" gets thrown around for every little thing, the more the average person will view "sexism" as a meaningless term that means "I'm a woman and I don't like that." Twenty years in the future, I imagine this to be an average conversation: "Hey, do you like pizza?" "No, I think it's pretty sexist." I say let them water down their own terms with hyperbole.

Look Krush you seem to be pretty peeved about the whole thing. Yes. Your post makes it sound like "You guys don't believe that women are abused, just take a look at this and I'll show you that women really do suffer!" That may or may not have been what you were going for, but that's how you came off. The line isn't being drawn between "men" and "women", he's asking how to differentiate between "men" and "boys". For the purpose of this discussion, we're assuming that all involved have Y-chromosomes. If the distinction between men and boys is in any way similar to the distinction between girls and women, then it's purely incidental and has no bearing on the conversation.
/r/MensRights11/12/09 05:22 AM

You missed the point. Sure, I'm not using the dictionary definition of "Patriarchy", but that's the whole point: Neither are they. I'm pointing out that they are using the term at every chance to simply mean "sexism and ills of society caused or perpetuated by men".
/r/MensRights08/12/09 05:04 PM

Because—say it with me—the patriarchy oppresses men too, there’s no reason that MRA’s and feminists shouldn’t get along. "Patriarchy hurts men too!" is the single most offensive thing a feminist can say to me. "Patriarchy" is just a pseudonym for "men" without having to fully admit that they are blaming the ills of society on a single sex. So much for "equality", huh? This weakens his argument because he, in essence, suggests that sexbots created in the image of a woman can act as a replacement of a female partner. The double-think here is amazing. Yes, sexbots will lower the relationship value of women, but so what? The implication is that by lowering women's relationship value, you lower their value as women altogether. I am strongly pro-choice. I argue for it and defend it. It affects me. If a girlfriend/wife needs an abortion, I would like it to be available to her. Unexpected pregnancy puts an unfair burden on the poor. Forcing children into the world when parents can't afford them or don't want them only causes more problems. Such children are more likely to grow up abused or neglected. It has been argued that Roe vs Wade has lead to the dramatic decrease in crime we see today. Criminals are disproportionat…

By lowering the price of women's insurance, it raises the price for me. Some would argue that it costs just as much for both sexes, but it doesn't work that way. When determining whether to buy something, you take into account costs and benefits. I get the same benefits as before, but at a higher cost. The point is not to support 50/50 division, but that feminists support it when it fits them, but never when it doesn't. They have Title IX to take funding away from sports if there aren't enough women. They sue university programs that don't have enough women. They claim that differences in income are because of discrimination. But never do they use the same logic in the cases when men are disadvantaged. Whether you agree with 50/50 splits or not, the feminists who support it in some cases and n…

Wasn't it the case that society/men cherry picked how far women could climb, keeping the top grades? Glass ceiling. I'm not really concerned what my parents or my parents' parents did. You don't fight past discrimination with new discrimination.

2.36/2.27. Below average in both. I still strongly disagree with how the test is designed and scored. I'd like to see questions like, "A man is charged with murder, how many years in prison should he spend?" "A woman is charged with murder..." "A man abuses his wife, should he go to prison?" "A woman abuses..." (Etc.) I think actions speak louder than ideologies.

I hear this accusation all the time, but nobody ever provides any evidence. If this is so prevalent, why can't you have a few links? I've always felt that social constructs enforce existing biological differences. Of course. If we were all completely blank slates, there would be no basis of nucleation upon which culture could crystallize. No matter how much some women say they are for equality, they aren't. Feminists will say that equality and feminism are the same thing, but this is only a political move: If they can claim all equalists in their stats, they gain numbers; claiming that they are for equality makes them look better; and most importantly, equating feminism and equality makes the implicit argument that those who are not feminists are against equality and are sexists. A woman who has a lot of sex could be insecure and depressed and looking for attention, or she could be very secure and so comfortable with herself that she enjoys sex because it is enjoyable, ignoring the negative stereotypes associated with it.

On top of that, men now have Internet, video games, and the greatest invention of all: Online porn. Why even bother with woman at all?
