No need to conflate the risk of being secreted away with a right to privacy until there's hard evidence; the former needn't follow from the latter. In our system, you can still be secreted away. There's no way for the public to prove that arrest records made public include all those who were arrested. Our society could be better; it isn't as exceptional as it could be. If a stranger accuses me of rape, I lose at least $500k between the lawyer and my ended career. Privacy is maintained in France for the accused, the same way it is for rape accusers in the US, by not releasing the info to the press. You haven't made a case for a better society.

I agree on the subject, but observe that "good university" doesn't matter. Having done much hiring for many employers in concert with team members, I've seen that accredited universities are treated equally regardless of name or stature. Now I've not seen someone from MIT, Harvard, Yale etc. But those seem rare enough that a candidate wouldn't need to worry about competing against them.

It says college graduates make a million dollars more PER YEAR over non-graduates. Even if it was per lifetime, it wouldn't take in account the likelihood that someone who is smart enough to graduate from college is worth more in the job market than someone who couldn't, regardless of a degree. Why would you be scared of running out of money, or take freelance jobs, or pay $250k for a house in KFalls? Check out ssa.gov to see what Social Security will (or currently promises) to give you. $1 million invested in houses should generate $30k a year in rent after all expenses including property management.

The pitfall isn't that you'd have to pay for the kid. It's that you'd potentially have to pay her as well, and possibly more money than you earn. Child support is a % of your earning potential, not actual earnings or what the kid needs. There's no requirement that she spend the money on the kid. I tend to agree with much of your OP, but not this on car insurance. You'd get in trouble for good reason. If you have no insurance then you could easily be unable to afford to pay for damage you do with your car, and then someone else will unfairly have to pay for your mistake. If you have enough money (i.e. you can afford pay for damage) I think you can forgo insurance by posting a bond or something.

This is a bit extreme to me. The property taxes are for roads, street lights, bridges, etc. etc. If you don't want those services, you can build on land with fewer services and have dirt cheap property taxes. For example, this guy pays $300 a year in property taxes for 40 acres, a cabin and outbuildings. There's a public road to his land, and he gets police, 911, and many other services, so $300 a year is fair.

Move to where you can pay off the debt the fastest. That's probably not SFO or NYC, due to high rents, taxes, and other costs. If you then have multiple choices, move to the city that offers the best cheap activities (e.g. hiking, biking).

Real (inflation adjusted) wages don't change much, which explains houses appreciating at the rate of inflation in the long run, and why rent will still be affordable. Since the 1960s the "long run" varies but might average 20 years, seen here, when constant dollars crosses a value it crossed before. There's a housing bubble now that seems to be slowing in growth, but no telling when it'll deflate. That's up to when the Fed quits blowing asset bubbles with borrowed money.

I love to travel but haven't left the US in a long time. There's hardly need to do that, since I travel for nature and solitude, not other people or cultures.
