I would definitely start with some co-op games so you can play with him! Plus, he'll enjoy being able to show you how the game works, which is a nice bonus.

Beyond really short-term stuff that we do together ("Let's go to this concert in 2 months!"), not really. He's kind of evasive about it. That's why I think it's more than time we had a concrete conversation.

I definitely don't want to get married right now, but I do want to know if he sees that as a possibility. We don't live together. He just gets kind of evasive sometimes when I bring up what he sees for our future.

I think I'm explaining myself poorly. I guess it comes down to the difference between discussing "the" future and "our" future.

Like I said before, all of those conversations you keep mentioning are either just in general or things that we want as individuals. But we haven't discussed if those are things that we will do. We have talked about the future, but not our future. For example, you brought up me moving back to my hometown. We haven't discussed if he would want to come with me. He said he understood why I would want to do that, but us as a couple didn't really factor into the conversation.

We've covered almost all of that, just without any firm dates and timelines. He knows I want to move back to my hometown at some point in the next 5-10 years. I know what his dream job is and the areas that offer that kind of work. We're both interested in living with a partner before marriage, but only a very serious partner (ideally an almost-fiance kind of situation). I guess part of the problem is that I don't have a firm "I want marriage and children by ______" timeline. So I'm not going to…

We've talked about all of it conceptually. Like, I know that he is interested in marriage and children and stuff like that, but I would love to get a better handle on whether he's interested in all those things with me specifically. I'm not going to give him an ultimatum, but I really do want to have a conversation with him about all this.

I don't really know how he feels right now, and that's kind of the problem. He was really evasive. I guess I'm willing to wait until he feels comfortable talking about it, but I don't want to wait forever. If he's being evasive because he just can't see a future with us and he doesn't know how to tell me, I want to know that sooner rather than later.

I've been trying to smile more too! I've noticed that people just seem generally more receptive to what I have to say when I'm smiling more. It's awesome. I'm also trying to thank people more, especially for little things. People like to be appreciated, and it's working exceptionally well with my SO. I don't want him to ever feel like I'm taking him for granted.

That would be my normal inclination, but so much of what I've read has suggested I accept his offers graciously because I appreciate that he wants to do nice things for me. Hence the tiny battle going on inside my head.

I love that! Might be stealing it :)

Thank you, this really makes a lot of sense. I want to give him the opportunity to show he cares for me, I would just hate for him to think I'm taking advantage of him even a little bit, which I know is absurd.

We haven't spoken about it directly, mostly because it's tough to explain to him why I'm conflicted without explaining the books, and RPW in general, which I'd rather not do. Although that sounds kind of silly written out like that, I do agree with "Surrendered Wife" when it says that usually explaining why you're doing something is counterproductive.

I just finished reading "The Surrendered Single" and "The Surrendered Wife". Both had some awesome tips and little things that I didn't realize I was doing to make my SO feel like I didn't respect. I totally recommend giving them both a read.

Fair enough. Too bad you don't have a second boyfriend to see whether having him informed makes a difference =P

Just curious, but why did you make him aware of the "experiment"? I think it would be so interesting to have known his feedback without knowing the context of why you're modifying some of your behaviors. I say this because a friend of mine also injected some RPW things into her life to "try it" (I had been hyping it a bit). She told her SO ahead of time, and since they were both a bit judgmental about it, I think he may have been way less receptive knowing that the behaviors were more RP. Very m…

I'm sure. Like I said though, I hate how being large is enough to get your own TV show. How is that helping? If you get to be a reality star for being over 300 pounds, why bother trying to be healthy? If she loses the weight, she loses her TLC meal ticket.

That new show on TLC, "My Big Fat Fabulous Life" makes me nauseous. Even though she says she's trying to lose weight, what's her real motivation now that she's being glorified on TV for being 380 pounds? If she slims down, she won't get to have her own awful TV show!

I get what you're saying, but this could apply to anything, not specifically gaming. Don't involve other people you game with into you and your SO's disagreements. It's only trouble. Don't let other people worm the idea into your head that your being mistreated or one of you is a bitch/asshole. It starts a slippery slope of losing mutual respect. This could be said for any hobby/activity, or even just said in general to a couple. Other people shouldn't be involved in my disagreements with my SO,…

Oh don't worry, I've explained to him why there's a subscription. He just feels like there are plenty of great games that don't need that, so if he's going to play a game, he'd try that. And I would definitely level with him! I wouldn't turn down a perfectly good opportunity to level a new character :)

I'm going to see if I can get him to do the "free trial" version where it lets you go to level 20 or something similar. I anticipate the subscription being a hurdle. "If I buy the game, why should I continue to pay for it every single month?"

I've had him try a bunch of different kinds of games, he just never really gets into any of them. Except Rock Band. We play a lot of Rock Band. But it's not really the same as progressing through a game together.

Hence why our relationship right now as just the two of us works well as it is. A DPS would be more of a nice bonus I guess.

I'm trying to convince my SO to start playing WoW with me. It's not really his thing, but maybe he'll come around. Definitely jealous that you guys game together!

I think we both do plenty of damage on our own! I could continue the adorable analogy and say that maybe when my SO and I get married and have kids, we could have our very own little pack of damage dealers to fill up our group :)

Ha, I feel like most other places on Reddit would have been so nasty about that, guess I just was ready for the backlash. People on Reddit can be assholes. Shocking, right? :P

They didnt necessarily agree, but they had a better understanding of my logic. I think that sometimes people think "egalitarian" means everyone should be the same and do the same things. I'm more of the opinion that its about equal opportunities where people can do whatever they want. Play to your strengths!

Eh, sometimes, it's just more confusing then since I have to explain a bit more. But even if they don't jump on board at the end, they at least seem to have a better understanding of where I'm coming from.

It's really just my personal preference. I like taking care of people, so it feels natural for me to take up the support role. My own skills just lend themselves to this kind of system. Amusingly enough, this mindset does bleed through to WoW. Almost all my characters are healers.

I didn't really come here to get into a debate about what feminism is. At its most basic definitions, it's a movement to ensure that women have the same rights as men. I know that different people can use that one statement to lead to different causes and goals, but a lot of the people I know have not used "women should have equal rights" to lead to the more extreme movements that stem from that. Maybe my family has a more egalitarian bent than the sometimes man-hating feminism people have come …

The way my mother was raised and the way she raised me was always "Feminism is about equal opportunity". So if you are female and you want to be a doctor or president, you can work towards that. You shouldn't just be handed a degree because you're female, but if you do what is required, you shouldn't be denied because of your gender. I get that "feminism" has a wide spectrum of intensity. The KKK is probably a bad comparison though, since feminism isn't really an organization...
/r/RedPillWomen15/12/14 05:14 PM

Fair enough. Then I'll easily correct this one. My parents are both feminists and open-minded. Women shouldn't be restricted from certain things because of their gender. I guess you were probably referring more to new wave feminism, which makes me want to vomit 95% of the time.
/r/RedPillWomen15/12/14 03:13 PM

I don't know if that's a fair assumption. Not all feminists are brainwashed.
/r/RedPillWomen15/12/14 04:26 AM

Very open-minded in the sense that they have always wanted me to do what makes me happy. They support me no matter what path I take. Feminists can be open-minded. It's not mutually exclusive. I'm sure you don't like people making assumptions about you either :)
