You used "monks" as a stand in for celibate men. Celibate men appear to have a higher risk of prostate cancer, which can be fatal. Monks are celibate. If one order or even all monks are not affected, they differ from men as a group regarding the affect of celibacy on prostate cancer risk, so logically it's something else in the monastic lifestyle, or maybe that order's lifestyle or location, that's protective. And to be clear, I don't support the idea that men need sex to survive. And even if th…

Regarding ejaculations; https://www.health.harvard.edu/mens-health/ejaculation_frequency_and_prostate_cancer There's no consensus regarding whether sex or masturbation matters, but; https://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/ejaculation-prostate-cancer-risk The webMD source states that; Over the years, there’s been growing evidence of a link between ejaculation and lower chances of prostate cancer. I think the OP is basically right in his assertion. I guess it's a seperate issue as he's framed it, but he's right in large part because of the meaning of the word "need". They actually have a higher risk of prostate cancer. The makeup of semen is a little different during sex as opposed to masturbation, and some research shows that while any ejaculation is helpful in reducing risk, sex may be more protective.

I like "nuance pilled" and I agree.

Your display here is clear evidence that you're not qualified to lecture me. Stop. I base this on a couple of things. First, read my comments again. At no point did I mention age. You responded to ViolentShallot, who also didn't mention age. You used age gratuitously to signify undesirability. That's a negative stereotype lots of young people hold about older people. Stereotypes can have an element of truth to them and still be harmful. Would you critique someone's running by sating they run lik…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 07:30 AM

Gotta say as a man of 67 I already know this, but it still comes across as ageist. Like you couldn't make the man be 50 because that just isn't gross enough. I knew you stereotyped boomer men's ideas and now I know that older boomer men are fodder for your clever contrasts. Lovely.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 04:40 AM

If the majority of women said "We go for looks, confidence and charisma, and the guy being good, or an asshole, emotionally available or not is irrelevant to us being attracted, those traits are just for long term relationships" things would be much better. Where we differ is the idea that most women feel that way. That's an overstatement. And even if it were true, what can men do with that information. The red pill is based on the idea that everone can become as attractive as they're motivated …
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 04:23 AM

I appreciate your comments. I hope you find peace, in a relationship ideally, but peace either way.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 02:20 AM

I'm going to answer a little obliquely. I think men most often demand honesty online in conversations about how prevalent some preferences or deal breakers are. Sometimes they're looking for evidence to support conclusions they've already reached. They've decided "I'm X and women generally prefer or will only date men who are Y". I genuinely think they're almost asking permission to quit trying to date. Online discussions give them access to a lot of women's opinions and that adds weight to the …

You're right that men use "loneliness" as code for horny. They use intimacy and validation in somewhat sketchy ways too. Intimacy for sure. Men who have no trouble writing motherfucker can't just say sex when that's what they're talking about. Other men use the term loneliness to describe a particular type of loneliness, the type you feel when you have no relationship or romantic interest. I don't find that so dishonest and certainly not an egregious twisting of words. If an adult says they're l…

I do it too often myself, but who really benefits from it? Even if it isn't the intent (it often is) it encourages people to see others and themselves as winners or losers.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/25 06:57 PM
-1

That tracks. it's the easy answer and I don't mean that as an insult. Sometimes answers are pretty easy. But even horny men can feel on some more meaningful level that they don't matter. And if you see my point, if a man believes or wants to convince himself that women are more caring than men, it's women's caring a man would want. And if he can't get that, he feels SOL.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/25 04:10 AM

I think men wish women had more empathy, but on some level we know most women are about as selfish and cynical as most men. The more a ,man complains about women being assumed to be more caring than men, the more likely his complaint is masked disillusion. Illusions die an especially loud and disturbing death.

Really? I see some women and some men saying height is almost irrelevant. Shorter men aren't surprised, they're just angry that it matters as much as it does. And I think some short men make a scapegoat out of their height, pinning all their dating woes on their height. In that frame of mind, where their dating problems due to height may be exaggerated, being told there's practically no issue is a departure from reality and a dramatic departure from their personal narrative.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/25 02:37 AM

In your other comments you just seem to be going out of your way to criticize men. Like you have an agenda. With this comment you're just dead wrong. Men here and in general note how much emphasis women put on height and income. Guys exaggerate it. Your take is weird.

What is the "bar" then? Isn't it the metaphorical point above which men need to be to date successfully or at least funtionally? If it is that, who sets the bar? That would be women. Seems to me women saying the bar is in hell are saying they have no standards, and in context and tone they want someone to do something about their lack of standards. So WTF? You're dating men who barely clear it. So it's also toxic to make that kind of general statement. And sure, there's plenty of toxicity here, …

This naturally drives us away and leads to absurd gender ratios, forcing even below average women to filter by shallow attributes just to triage the thousands of likes and hundreds of messages we receive weekly. I'm old and in a relationship, but why does this follow? And on a related note women will site safety concerns, which are 100% legitimate concerns, as a reason to be extra selective, but then those women select off of shallow criteria. I can't make a case that average looking men are saf…

You seem to be equating the kind of special status a really good looking man has with the kind of special status an ordinary man might "earn". Is that your intent?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/25 05:33 PM

I sometimes think women's "icks" are kind of silly, but if a woman got the ick in this situation I would fully understand. It would almost certainly have to change how she felt about the man sexually. Maybe in some rare instances for the better, but far more likely for the worse.

I'm 67 and in my experience and from observing adults in my life as a kid, at no point did the anyone in my circle say anything other than a man being tall, good looking or at least well put together, fit, financially stable, and assertive and poised are great helps in attracting women. The idea that this is some revealed truth divined by a few mystics is fucking comical.

OP, you've made a series of posts the past few weeks (maybe longer-that's as far as I've searched) with a similar theme. Without dismissing your argument that some men would benefit from less of a slavish attachment to women's approval, I'm beginning to wonder who you're trying to persuade? You perhaps?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/01/25 06:33 PM
1

You have a point. The revealed truth, that women tend to like men who are X and do Y, is a little simplistic but generally won't hurt and will probably help a man's chances of being seen as attractive. But there was never any illusion about this. In the history of ever. And, men who are not X and who don't do Y are still sometimes seen as attractive. I'm not sure it's red pilled to reject the game altogether. I think you can date and relate on your own terms, with your eyes wide open. Maybe that…

I think the need to identify with a pill in a meaningful way might be evidence of a lack of autonomy. And I don't mean that here where people are encouraged to pick a team. But if it's a philosophy I'm not a fan. Kinda if you meet the Buddha in the road, kill him.

You're kinda hard to agree with Lilith. Maybe it's the sound of that axe grinding? But, you're also kinda right. This site for sure does nothing to support the idea that men are the responsible sex.

The references here to the wall are gross. I see it almost always as an effort to put women in their place, or their future place, an effort carried out by men who often have no "place" of their own. These men are socially aware and they know they're talking to or in the presence of real women, which is kind of the point I guess. To be assholes. Then there are men who really don't seem to know that real women are reading what they write. I mean they know, but not in any meaningful way. The first…

I see it as more revealing of what people really think or feel. That's not fun to hear or read, and while some comments gross me out as a man, you as a woman will likely hear or see men's comments with a more critical ear or eye than I will. I tend to think people identifying themselves as holders of those crappy perspectives can be beneficial.

If it's a moral stance (it almost never is, really) then a man with self respect would hold himself to the same standard he holds a woman to. Not doing so is the definition of hypocrisy. If it's about his ick with her behavior, it's really not. He may be a hoe and he may find a woman to date who isn't and who is still fine with his past behavior. That's between them. If he has an issue with women who don't like his past behavior, who view it exactly like he does when considering a partner, then …

People who have been through a bad relationship don't need to be told that they should have chosen better. This can apply to men or women. If they ignored red flags then maybe a close friend or family member might have their trust sufficiently to point that out and be heard. Maybe not. But tough love, if it ever works, works when it comes from someone who actually loves you and will be there.

And so men's individual or collective opinions about which women are most appealing matters. I'm with a woman who was a single mom when we met, and I was a single dad. This isn't my deal, but it's also not my business or yours how men think or feel about which women to date.

/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/25 11:27 PM

I think this is what men want to. Not on a one to one check off with what you mentioned, but whatever or whoever we are, the healthy and decently adjusted "who and what we are". To be that and not have to perform.

You're still describing symptoms though. And sure, acting out symptomatically adds to and in a sense becomes part of the problem, but it's not the core issue. If I offer you a solution and you won't try it, and people in your demographic often refuse to try it, I'm going to think my solution or the way I offer it are the problem. It's tough because online crap like MRA or Incel or black pill sites are like candy (and empty and ultimately harmful-but first tasty) and I'm offering (you're offering…

/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/24 03:43 PM

I think it can register this way, but it can be compartmentalized. A man, or a woman being unable to meet a basic and strong emotional need can lead to feeling like you don't direct your own life. Something akin to feeling helpless in that specific but very important aspect of self direction. So even if it doesn't devalue you as a person, it can feel like you're letting yourself down. On some level that's a distinction without a difference, though.

That therapy can very well work for men, which I firmly believe, is irrelevevamt if men won't participate. I'm old and in a relationship, but as an observer....... By aiming this at a group of men who "have to accept" how women's desire works, you seem to be targeting a part of the core audience here, which is men who can't. Can't get a date, can't get laid, can't find a LTR. But many and probably most of those men know this info already. They know that "looks just get your foot in the door". If there's a universe where 80% of men are below average looking, I'm in that 80%. I'm probably there in a believable world where 50% of men are below average looking, but with that # (50%) I can genuinely believe (hope) some women might think I look pretty good. 80% is just too steep a hill to climb. So that's where I start. When someone points out that the women in that data set contacted men they found below average looking, it's typically brought up to rebuff the data showing that those wome…

Yes, that’s what I’m trying to argue to GridReXX. The problem is that there are very few men that stimulate a given woman like this, but many women who could stimulate an average man like this, including his actual attractiveness match. I think this makes men anxious. It does me, and I'm older and in a relationship, but when I feel some doubt ideas like this and related ones test me. The thing is, it seems GridReXX agrees with you. I'm not really disagreeing with you, but I am suggesting how some of the confusion may come to be. Women consistently choose (message online, seek another meeting in speed dating) conventionally attractive men in contexts where they really know little about those men except how they look. At least that's the complaint many men have, and there seems to be some evidence to support this. So women seem to be thinking like men (shooting their shot with the most eye catching men) when choosing which m…

True. For example, you agree that Margot Robbie is "mid". What does a vague term like "mid" even mean? Is it roughly synonymous with average? And by average are we referring to a mean or a median or even a modal value? Because Marot Robbie is none of those things, so "mid" must mean something else.

In my experience this is pretty accurate. I'd add women who were in a relationship or two but were kind of on the margins of being appealing and when those relationships end they mostly gave up. It is often easier (at least somewhat possible) to find opportunities to meet people when you're at that age when most people are single and looking. Get to be 35 or 40 being kind of meh and those rare opportunities may evaporate.

Once the guy's GF became involved and put herself in some danger by pushing the drunk guy, the BF should have intervened. Hopefully de-escalating but sometimes that's not entirely up to you. Either way, once the incident is over you take the GF home and break up with her.

I've been in two long term (decade or more) relationships, one of which is ongoing. I've experienced mild mind reading expectations, more so with the ex. For my part, I have a mild tendency toward aggression and some rare violence. I'm no brawler or abuser and virtually all of this instinct is directed at men, but it's there. I consider it a feature and not a bug of who I am. In my experience, men and women allude to these stereotypes kind of casually. I don't think they really believe them, but…

I disagree. I also don't see anything in your OP that supports the notion of unconditional love, or if you convinced me that it exists, I see nothing proving that it has to exist in romantic pairings for them to be real or viable. You want it to. I guess I do to in the sense that "wouldn't it be nice if", but I know I don't operate that way so I can't expect other people to. I think people who have this sort of exalted sense of what love is are setting themselves up for disappointment. Sometimes…

I don't see or hear a lot of women complaining about men bettering themselves. I think the things you mention, to the extent that they exist to any great degree, are mostly human issues and not uniquely women's issues. Look how men react to women wearing makeup, for example. I think you're seeing dating in the harshest light you can.

Indifference and disgust are two very different things. In fact if you're disgusted you're not indifferent. Your premise is flawed.

Well first, why not be kind to each other? Second, maybe the complimenter means that whatever the person's level of attractiveness, they've put themselves together well today. Or they generally do. But mostly, why not be kind? That's not rhetorical. Why the fuck not?

TBF, men don't need to do anything. I'm not trying to be confrontational, but you seem to be looking for something like certainty regarding expectations and preferences held by men. Aint no such. I get it. As a man I wish women would hash out lots of the variability in what they find attractive, and in my RL experience sometimes it's the woman I'm involved with who seems to want contradictory things. Some of that's just being human. The contradictions and the unrealistic need for certainty or co…

Also, is the same man or men saying both, or does man A say one thing and man B something else? You know, the men are not a monolith thing we sometimes hear from women. Sometimes/S You're aware, so you know men appreciate well done makeup, which is usually subtle. They, me included, envy the results a woman can get from doing makeup well and having it be socially acceptable. I'm also aware that it's basically expected of women and along with other expectations, including long hair, can be a burd…

I'm male and I agree with you. Therapy may point out genuine reasons you struggle, ones outside your control. An abused child is literally taught by harsh experience to not trust people. But that's half the deal. The choice a person makes now fuck up his or her life, now. A lot of modern therapy helps a person identify how they stay stuck in patterns of behavior that never worked, or often times worked long a go but no longer do, Staying in those patterns is a choice, and a good therapist can he…

Terms like hypergamy shut down more discussions than they facilitate. It's not helpful here. But the thought behind your post has some merit. Without getting into any of the reasons why, I think we can agree that in today's climate for most people; -men are at least as driven or more driven than women to get together* -in the initial stages of getting together, women risk more than men* -men and women ideally are looking for someone who adds something to their lives Therefore*, a man needs to ad…

It's a mistake for men to make their self perceived value depenent on women finding them appealing. But being appealing to women has value as it pertains to a man managing an important part of his life. Struggling in that area can be pretty demoralizing, even if not all encompassing. It's a bit like someone who's unsatisfied with his (or her) work. They may be able to pay bills and survive but they're neither happy with what they do nor with how much they make and they are vulnerable if laid off…

It sucks, dating apps would ideally work for everyone, but they don't work for most men, they work for women and high quality men. Your advice is sound, and as you acknowledge your point is about accepting how "unideal" dating is for many young men. And it does no good to dwell on this, but as others have said online dating isn't exactly quaranteened from dating in general and it has an impact that impact doesn't help men who need help the most. All the more reason for men who are unlikely to su…

When you body shame or virgin shame someone there's collateral damage. Like calling Trum fat seems both accurate and fair given his tendencies, but he likely won't care while your fat friends may be. Even if he does care, you still impact innocent parties in most cases.

There are excuses for changes in behavior and appearance. Age is unavoidable. Disease can be. In a LTR there will be some "relaxing" that's mostly healthy. But healthy couples continue to make an effort in general. An effort to look good, smell good, be consideratre and romantic. And sometimes the effort counts, even if it's not entirely successful. Quit trying to be a good (not necessarily best but good) version of yourself at your own risk and at the risk of the relationship. And one caveat, p…

Men who stay in the child's life are making a choice to stay in the child's life. The child and his relationship to the child aren't a fraud, the mother's misrepresentation is. I would stay involved. The laws on this are archaic though. A man should be able to choose whether he stays in the child's life emotionally and financially. His financial contributions, if he chooses to make any, should be directly between him and the child. I would support the child, but I wouldn't give the child's mothe…
