In the sense that you don't need a term for anything as long as it can be described in other words sure. But it explains a specific social phenomena (e.g. recidivism). I think op is making chivalry out to be ONLY for women. I agree with you that, among other things, I will hold the door open for both men and women. But these actions either don't mean as much or lead to worse interactions when applied to only one category.

I believe things to as much a point as the source. Examples being: I know that photons function as both a particle and a wave because a textbook not because I've done the experiment myself. personal experience? i was kinda ignored in high school, so i just watched people and realized mainly this. The guys that I heard or seen (1st hand) called creepy as a result of some event also had been called ugly/unattractive. But when similar events occurred with attractive guys, they were dreamy/attractive.

My only problem with this is eventually seeing someone with a last name that're 5 names long. The reasoning behind last names used to be more logical as referring to their title, but not anymore as from what I've seen.
