I bookmarked this so I can see how this conversation ends but the topic fundamentally makes me angry because of how often that mentality (at face value) hurts people

I object to the "introverted gamer" stereotype, as one. I get what you are trying to say, but being a piece of shit comes in many forms and frankly having been "a gamer" since I was 4 (32 years ago), life experience has made that a really frustrating stigma to have to deal with. There has to be a better way to communicate "that energy"

How is this a ppd? The whole situation is ridiculous beyond belief.

Hell they both showed up adjacent to each other on my list...kinda hard to take seriously at that point, lol.

Your first comment has a green name and this one is blue, I'm so confused.

If nothing else you can at least be prepared in the future. I'm not sure what kind of impression you ultimately made that night but unless you did something particularly damning you'll probably have an opportunity to regain momentum, but only if you have the confidence and mindset when that opportunity arises.

Out of curiosity, what area of the country are you in? I go out by myself fairly regularly, but the types of opportunities you describe don't really seem to exist where I am.

Either call him out or give her an opportunity to walk away (lets get some air, or hey I want to show you/introduce you to....)

Another thing to keep in mind the relatively short lifecycle of the college ecosystem, and that you more or less just entered--practically still a baby by college standards. You might have early success under the right circumstances, but taking deletedLink's approach will get you much better connections in the long run--establishing for yourself which people and environments you feel comfortable with will give you a home turf of sorts that could serve any number of purposes.

In response to the first edit: It may not seem that special to you, but at face value it sounds like it is important to her. Find a way to build on it and plan the next surprise? You could even make a sort of running "game" of taking turns coming up with surprises.

To me it sounds essentially like a personalized version of the mindset that we should expect success in the things we do--but taking it a step further with the idea that we have already succeeded before, and we're just going out there to succeed again.

Can you clarify on the dagger eyes? Who were they towards? -- Your overall description makes it sound like you were talking about how you AMOG'D someone else but the wording you used at key moments makes it sound like you did something wrong, so the message is unclear.

I thought something similar--the only time that you should really walk away outright (with the intention of writing her off completely) is if you know she is deliberately wasting your time, or if she is just so full of herself that it's not worth the effort. In both cases they are affronts to you as a human being. If you're approaching her when she's with a group that dynamic might be a bit different but even so you are doing yourself a disservice by giving up after the first "volley". Edit: Dru…

What kinds of questions do girls women feel that we as guys men could ask to get to know them better? Obviously it shouldn't turn the conversation into an interview, but making connections with people in general has never been easy for me. As a result, I'm finding that I seem to do alright with the initial approach, but my lack of understanding about how to meaningfully learn from someone about themselves (intellectual empathy?) compounds the problem of having a relatively limited amount of time…

This weekend I ran into a girl I met earlier in the week and for some reason a similar subject came up--instead of mouth breathers though, my drunk mind said "droolers", because I had this image of a guy basically following a girl around with spittle hanging out of his mouth because it's wide open. I never gave her the explanation, and it managed to get a laugh out of her but hopefully i don't use that term again.

I was going to say something like this--it sounds like the end of a self help book. Even if someone were to go into it with that much passion, it's a feeling that burns out quickly when confronted at every moment with the realities of how hard it is to change, given that we as people are the sum of our experiences. Little steps!

I am a lurker on this subreddit, so bear with me....it sounds like your mentality is screwed up. You say that you're not interested, but you are upset and vomited your mind because she isn't trying to make moves on you despite how close you two are. If the former is true, then your entire post is essentially a complaint about not getting your ego stroked by someone else. (why are you letting the girl dictate how you feel?) I think it's more likely that you are interested in her and you aren't be…

Truth. After I got laid off I moved back home to pay off student loans and find a job. As of now I'm doing both quite successfully with a decent rainy day fund built up as well, but my rent/bill contributions help with parent financials (single mom in a crappy job due to oversaturated local market). I am happy to help, but not a day goes by where I don't think about how much more I will be and feel free to accomplish once I move out.
