I did it a few months ago after being separated and then divorced for three years. The sex was good as usual but it didn’t end well as expected. Not going into details but don’t do it.

Yes. I ignored the red flags in my youth. And then when we got married those red flags showed up in her parents behavior. Then I knew at some point down the road I was in trouble. Should have gotten out then but then again I wouldn’t have 4 beautiful children. But yes, I’m also to blame.

Divorced three years ago. It was a mess. My story is around here somewhere. Still having drama when it comes to the kids. She’s living in our old office with our younger ones. She sleeps during the day, drinks in the evening and has played around here and there it looks like. I’m healed and getting my finances back on track. I’m 46. Had a date last night with a cute little 35 year old dentist and some other dates lined up for the holidays. Getting back on track and there is life post-divorce. Ke…

Just wanted to provide an update. She has moved into our old office. Probably as a statement of independence from her mother who she was living with and to have more time with the boyfriend. Was supposed to have the kids this weekend from Saturday after 7 when I got off but said she had a “drinking party to go to and had to leave at 6 so next weekend.” We shall see. I sent a message to diffuse the situation saying it’s not my business what you do but at least watch how you do it and keep the kid…

You’ve got it. In reality my beef isn’t with him. The only thing I can hope for is that he puts my kids thoughts and feelings above his needs physically. I’m sure it was just as awkward for him as it was me if not more. I don’t know what his thought process is. He’s either really desperate or generally just concerned. They will figure it out. My beef was the way they went about it. I’ve had a day or so to process it and I feel like I am in a good place. Work is going well today and this just rei…

I’m in Japan. My rights are next to nothing and she would get full custody even with the alcohol issues. Our divorce was done in a day. No alimony or child support. Her parents are rich so she’s adamant she doesn’t expect any money from me but I am sending her some as I get my finances straightened out and putting some away for them in the bank as I can. Minus point is I’m at the mercy of her emotional state at times. She has kept to her agreements with the kids for the most part except for when…

Hopefully time away from home and in the big city will do her some good and she is away from the drama. I sent her a message after I found out that I loved her, missed her and we have a lot to talk about when she’s ready. But for now, I told her I wanted her to focus on herself and school and enjoy her life. I’ll be watching and if she needs anything to let me know. She did tell her mother that she got the message but just doesn’t know how to start. That’s ok. Time. This family has been through …

I agree. It’s not the boyfriend issue. I’ve been transparent with my dating and haven’t involved the children. It’s skipping my weekend to have the kids and putting them in that situation. It may have started a while ago and who knows. It’s taking a weekend away from their father to introduce new guy or old guy when they could have done something alone together and left the kids with me.

Yeah I mean, if his thing is an alcoholic single mother of four living with her alcoholic single mother you go. He’s either desperate or generally concerned. After that meeting, I personally wouldn’t have stayed and I would have been out of there but that’s just me. I’m more concerned about putting the kids in that situation so quickly when there was two options here. Bring them over to my place as scheduled or leave them with the grandparents so you guys can do your thing. I’ve been open about …

The last conversation I had with my daughter was when she called me up at 3 o’clock in the morning telling me that if I loved her I’d come and pick up her older brother and take him out of the house because he was disturbing her studying and phone time with his outbursts. I told her that’s not love and that’s something that her mother and I need to be discussing. She then proceeded to tell me that maybe I just didn’t have the confidence to take him in even though my wife had custody legally, cho…

No, I’m not going to do anything that would hurt the kids or give her an excuse to use against me. I’m going to guess that she will try to diffuse the situation by not allowing me to see the kids for a while since she didn’t answer the Sunday phone call to the kids which we usually do when I don’t have them on that weekend. But, eventually she will start letting us meet again since the kids will say something and my older ones will get on her. And she knows they need and love their father. Yeah …

I’m in Japan. She took her mother’s side. Oldest son took my side. It’s been a mess. I know I will forget it and it will pass. A year ago like I said, I might have thrown him on the bbq pit. But I said hello and left it at that. Came home , cooked and then went out for a while. Just venting a bit. Thank you.

I signed papers and she didn’t turn them in until 9 months later. Acted like we were divorced though. She had kept the kids from seeing me a few times. After I had confronted her with her drinking issues etc. she wasn’t ready to tell the kids yet and I was afraid if I did it on my own she would pull something drastic and make it worse. I knew eventually she would tell them so I prepared them in other ways since they knew we were separated of course.

Not in the office now. But still in the apartment up the street. I’m not ready to move yet. I’m just getting back on my feet now after the divorce and the Corona situation here. I also basically had to start over. I’m getting there and should be much better by fall financially.

It’s not her house. She lives in another area. That was the office we built together. I moved up the street a bit because I was still working there a while after the divorce trying to hold it together and keep money flowing to the kids. I eventually had to leave because of the drama. Nobody is usually there. It’s right down the street.

No. Not cheating of course since we are divorced. I’m more worried about how the kids are taking it. Confusion etc. 20 years and it was just fast. Never experienced that before so it was a little shocker but I’m going to be ok.

Based on how the communication was before, decent was the only word to describe it. Maybe better is better. Good question. I’m 50/50 but more concerned about how the kids are taking it. The divorce was hidden from them until recently. No. We did not go to court. So she has custody. But has been pretty good about keeping dates unless she is angry about something. I’m in Japan so things are different here.

A cup of pasta, 1/2 cup of veggies and fish, a small steak, chicken or pork chop. I’ve lost 10 kilos in two years since my divorce and I’m in great shape. At 46 my body never looked this good. I was either too skinny or overweight. I’m really happy with my progress. 💪

Listen to this. My little princess of 20 years turned straight monster and a spitting image of her mother. We started out amicably also but I’m sitting here wondering if I’m going to see my kids or not during Christmas while she reads my texts about scheduling and ignores them. Looks like steak is on the menu Christmas Day. Prepare yourself. Also don’t sleep with her. You’ll regret it and she’ll use it against you. The person you married is gone.

Yes, it does at some point. When I was young and before I was married I slept around a lot. I did get to the point to where I was unfulfilled I guess. As guys, we still need emotional intimacy. When I met my now ex-wife I was in a stage of being tired of sleeping around but satisfied where I was at. She actually was the one that got frustrated with me not taking her to bed. lol. I was just totally relaxed at that point. We lasted 20 years and lost that original feeling through lots of stuff unfo…

My wife said, “you can’t be heartbroken because I didn’t get a divorce because of another man.” Yeah well you have a family and children to go back to every day(while drinking with your mother of course) and I have an empty apartment to go back to with only photos. But.....my day will come.

Thank you. Yeah, but I’ve been on vacation for a week held up in the office with no access to my kids and no contact with the wife. Work today will at least keep me occupied. She is scheduled to come in this afternoon for work. Should be an interesting day. I’m hanging in there though.

Thank you. I’m holding up and begin work again tomorrow which will help. I am still in therapy and see a social worker on a weekly basis. I do not have an AA session at a time I am free, things are a bit different over here. I’m in Japan.

Thank you very much. That’s all I need to hear. My mother in law said pretty much the same. “I can’t control my husband, son or daughter. They have their problems. But I can’t wait for them. I have to keep moving and do what I need to do for myself and them. If they follow, they follow. They usually do because they can’t do anything else but they are at least thankful and appreciative of my efforts and loyal. I’m getting older and I need someone to step up. Keep moving and focused. Work hard and…

Thank you. I read that book after the separation and it helped a lot. Still working on the advice though. Monday I will open our business again after vacation and that will help a lot. I’m just giving her space and going no contact for the time being. I’ve texted her about seeing our younger kids so she can’t use that against me. She has ignored those texts. I’m on mute it seems. This is the first time she has been this nasty in twenty years. I think it’s all of the years combined with the assau…

Part 4: After the argument My wife said she thinks we need a separation. Me at the office and her at home. She needs space and I need to get myself together where I’m not so needy. She says I need to get my confidence back. No divorce. No limits on kids. No dating other people. We work through our finances as usual. Then as we work through our stuff and see improvement then hopefully we catch each other’s eye again and we can get back to where we want to be as a family. “I want to hold our grand…

Post rehab to now. I spent 3 months in rehab. Spent the time focusing on myself. Getting through some of the demons and realizing the damage my drinking had done. The passing out, the anger etc. I got out and went home. I started working. Doing the things I needed to do. My wife was there but distant. Things were different. My mother in law was there and still very controlling. Drinking. The doctors had told my wife if she didn’t get control of her mother the family would break. My oldest son wa…

Part 2: Japan I moved to Japan. Worked. Traveled around. Learned the language. Made new friends. Got a modeling job that paid well. Started to DJ and was good at it. I was dating regularly. I had no problem approaching and no problem keeping my schedule full. I was young and enjoyed life. Then I met my wife. Everything was good. Communication, sex and we had a blast. We started living together soon. I got rid of all the side girls. We lived together for a year and a half and decided to get marri…

Part 1: My childhood. My mother has bad Tourette Syndrome. Her emotions are like a roller coaster and my father rode it constantly. She ended up finishing with her masters and had a successful career as a teacher. My father was a commercial loan officer and was sometimes gone for weeks at a time with his job, leaving my younger sister and I to deal with my mothers emotional roller coaster. My father was gone much of my third grade year and my mother was going to school during the summer so she l…

Just grab em by the............,nah. Actually you are in already. It should be easy from there. Last time that happened to me was at the mall I turned around, walked along side her and said “let’s check out that store over there next.” After that was lunch and so on. That works with a Japanese girl though.
