You all have some bitching stories.

Admittedly true, and sparing you the semantics of it, I stand by my statement.

You say it as if the two are mutually exclusive; not necessarily so. Although it generally takes acceptance of the former to genuinely appreciate the latter. Perception through experience is rarely so black and white.

I feel the root cause of AA is simply being too focused on yourself...learn to be genuinely interested in others and the rest will come naturally. IME, don't go approaching expecting something to come out of the conversation, because that will make you more sensitive to rejection, the what-ifs..and all the anxiety that comes with it. Approach with sincerity, without regard to yourself, but to who you're approaching and with enough encounters, i.e. practice, you'll find that it no longer becomes …

I don't think you understand, that sarcastic apology comes after the fact that they were disgusted by my frankness.

Okay, see that last sentence basically sums up when I feel I'm actually successful with women and men, regardless of romantic/ platonic intentions...

I have a couple questions for OP: Did you become romantically involved with any of the women you approached while in Europe? If so, did it occur to you that a) Europeans are generally more open-minded about sex and b) Any flings were to be expected to have NSA since you were travelling through?

Where do you go to college? I get that many women in the normal college age group, do want to have fun and explore their bodies, but are generally fairly insecure to make it overtly known. In my experience, when girls get very stand-offish after I make my intentions overt, I usually respond with something along the lines of "well, I'm sorry I was being honest about what I want", as a sarcastic quip to addressing their insecurity about owning up to what they want as well. It would really be nice …

Thanks RandianHero :) That's the kind of attitude I'm accustomed to. You're absolutely right about needing to practice; I'll be sure to PM if I have any more questions. Keep on doing what you're doing brother. edit: definitely having that expectation of failing and being at peace with it works wonders for staying the course

That's good, but honestly it seems like something that is derived from being a) genuinely interested in the person b) being witty, able to think on the spot (either you have it or don't) c) having no real sense of boundaries when it comes to how one is perceived, and finally I think it really is something that comes with how much social + life experience one has in order to conjure up stuff from falling back on references. In my own experience, I've only been able to really use banter when I'm g…

What is an example of what you might consider to be something that isn't boring and isn't small talk as a way to approach new people and build rapport?

I have to say that you really hit the nail on the head with this; although much of what I'm going through has a lot to do with individual personalities and biases that are held, both of which have a lot to do with the unique experiences and culture of the person I'm communicating with, e.g. someone raised in Korea would probably require a different approach than someone raised in New York, or Barcelona. I'm saying the kind of topics, jokes, context of which, all etc. need to be tailored...and th…

All of your suggestions appear sound in their own right; I can't say that I haven't done what you've outlined however, some more than others. I'm not the boring type to not joke or socialize in a way that puts other at ease. From what I gather, my personality has been well received for utilitarian purposes; I have a relatively good relationship with my superiors and colleagues where I work; I haven't had much trouble in the professional world, in fact I seem to be well respected if nothing less;…

Thanks for your reply dnaPUA, although I have listened to carnegie's book several times on the commute to and from work, I have not read manson's...have heard good things about it however. I'll definitely give it a read, always worth exploring other perspectives and approaches.
