Please talk to women.

In general, men are willing to give up a little safety, job-security, stability, leisure time and flexibility (among other things) in exchange for higher pay and better chances at promotion. Women, in general, tend to value time with family more than men, so they tend to seek out jobs that are more flexible, stable and safer. WHY is this the case? The answer to these questions actually matter a lot to a large number of people - some might say there are entire fields dedicated to studying what ma…

And you're using a stupid amount of confirmation bias to affirm your belief that women are shallow social leeches. Being a motivated person is A) attractive to both sexes and B) Not the be all end all as a rule. Please talk to women.

I think there's a definite difference to "entitled" and "deserved", though I agree it's a very weird social line. In saying someone "deserves a loving partner", I think it's more of a comforting remark that the person has the good qualities that mean they would be appropriate as a romantic partner (as opposed to somebody who clearly has issues that they need to work on before they should be in a long-term relationship); it's not saying "hey you should have an SO", more "hey you would be a good p…

I understand, and I apologise if it seemed like I was insinuating all buddy parent relationships work. My point is just that there are many different goals and strategies for parenting, and being the "friend" can work just as well as any other way depending on the situation. The only type of parenting i've never known to work is the abusive type, which is why I have a natural aversion to the idea of any kind of smacking/spanking sort of thing. I'm aware that those very rarely qualify as abuse, b…

My mom never hit me, she was the "buddy parent". As a child I threw a tantrum all of once, never having any major fights as a teenager with her and nowadays she is my best friend and we share a great respect for each other. So just hopping in to say I think you using the term "buddy parent" in such a derogatory way is ignorant and concerning.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
