Interesting. Feel like that’s in direct conflict with the advice others have given. Would be interested in the earlier posters weighing in on this

You are right. 100%. This is the type of work I’m focusing on this week (along with reading the the sidebar, of course).

Not great. My response isn’t meant to push back on your ideas. This is a bit of a frame shift for me that I haven’t accessed in a while so I’m trying to understand it better

So the process of trying to improve my negative interactions is to ignore her and hope she improves and if not…?

I don’t have children, so am honestly not sure. I would likely explain that it’s disrespectful to speak to someone with a tone or attitude. I tried that with my wife and she just groaned that I’m always criticizing. Meanwhile, I usually hold it in and only mention it when she gives me shit for having a tone. She told me to mention it in real-time rather than bottling up but in reality it seems like she doesn’t want me to mention it at all.

Question. Occasionally, my wife speaks to me in a manner that I don’t like or appreciate. Per the STFU premise, do I just continue to allow it to occur (and say nothing) or do I say something (in a direct manner). I know you addressed this in your comment, but I’m new to the forum and want to make sure I’m applying the concept correctly.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
