Is mansplaining misogynistic?Yeah it was the author of the book Men Explain Things to Me. Which, frankly, isn't a very good book overall but the stories that she tells between the preachiness are pretty funny. But she is an historian (if I'm remembering correctly) and was having a conversation with a small group of people at an event and the conversation eventually led to a subject that she happens to be an expert on and wrote a book about that event in history and did a lot of research on the subject. She said something, h… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 27/02/17 02:36 PM
Redditers in good long time relationships, what did you think during the lows of it?I feel like a lot of the things you see about crazy relationships are from couples who like the drama and passion more than any other aspect of a relationship. Personally, I would get burned out from that but other people thrive on it. A couple of friends of mine think if you aren't in that constant state of flux between fighting and making up then that's unhealthy because that means the relationship isn't passionate enough. That seems nuts to me, but whatever. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 30/01/17 01:52 AM
Redditers in good long time relationships, what did you think during the lows of it?I feel like we have a healthy relationship but we both worked really hard to become better on our own and better partners before we met each other. I'm not faultless and neither is he, but we love each other and have the same goals in life and we are better individuals because of our relationship. I think that's the most important thing - being with someone who brings out the best in you makes the low points not seem so bad. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 29/01/17 09:18 PM
Redditers in good long time relationships, what did you think during the lows of it?Sometimes I just don't feel like being around my husband. Quirks that I normally find endearing can be irritating. Sometimes I want to be left alone. Sometimes I don't feel like having a conversation. Maybe he didn't do a chore that needed doing, maybe I didn't do a chore and he's irritated at me but I don't want to listen to any nagging. The times I'm feeling that way can also coincide with times he needs me most so I have to put aside my feelings and address his needs and he does the same for … | /r/PurplePillDebate | 29/01/17 05:25 PM
Redditers in good long time relationships, what did you think during the lows of it?I just see it as inevitable. Living with someone will be hard occasionally and there will likely be times you won't like each other. But in a relationship you should have common goals to work towards that help foster deeper feelings of love and commitment that won't go away when the periods passion and lust subside. Barring something that could decay the relationship and needs to be addressed and worked on, just let it pass and look forward to the next high. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 29/01/17 04:43 PM
High n count men are just as much a cheating risk in a relationship as high n count women (and probably even more)Good point, but I still think it's reasonable that friends just not discuss (or even know) the sexual exploits of a person's past, so I can understand what that person was saying. Some people just keep their dating life private. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 13/01/17 05:39 PM
High n count men are just as much a cheating risk in a relationship as high n count women (and probably even more)Anecdotal, but me and my husband don't know each other's numbers and we have lots of mutual friends. I have a general idea of the number of women that he has loved and was in a serious relationship with from him telling me things about his past relationships and I'm sure he has a vague idea of my number for that too, but I don't know how many one night stands he's had or short term relationships and we've never flatly asked each other. Plus, our friend groups are collected into different types, … | /r/PurplePillDebate | 13/01/17 04:43 PM
