It would be nice to have a counter to this article: "21 Lost Gentleman Traditions That Still Apply Today" Quoting from elsewhere - this is what I think of whenever this topic comes up. "Chivalry was never a universal social custom. It was a code of behavior for a very small, elite portion of the population i.e. knights to another small portion of the population. A knight would act with chivalry towards a noblewoman, and most particularly his lady, but not the bootblack's daughter.
