If we're talking about being interesting in a social context it's expensive and it also takes time - something that isn't abundantly avaliable when guys are being worked by full time employment. Also a lot of the time "interesting" to others is destructive to the individual (drugs/drink) so not necessarily something to be applauded. I don't think it's just the churches that are emptying out, I think society itself is (men and women) as people retreat online.
