| 1 | National crisis-Free tests for biggest killer of men, Prostate cancer, are being scrapped to 'save government money'. Imagine the outcry if they scrapped tests for breast cancer for women instead?! THIS is the REAL 'Equality gap'.OK I had to get off my phone and do this more properly. The unnecessary surgery I'm talking about is not because the hospitals I work at haven't been following european or international guidelines, but just the fact that the NNT of RALP/RRP to prevent a death is variable depending on the risk assessment of the cancer. Even for the most high risk cancer types, we are talking about a NNT of 13. In layman's terms (you probably understand the term but man in the thread don't) that means you have to … | /r/MensRights | 01/12/19 08:18 AM |

Imagine the outcry if they scrapped tests for breast cancer for women instead?! THIS is the REAL 'Equality gap'.I know it is a blood test. If it is elevated enough or if there is doubt, a biopsy is done. If a biopsy finds cancerous cells surgery is often done, which is often unnecessary. I am a consultant anaesthesist, i treat these patients when they come in for unnecessary procedures. What is your qualification? | /r/MensRights | 01/12/19 07:37 AM |

It is just not a good tool for general population screening | /r/MensRights | 30/11/19 08:12 PM |

Imagine the outcry if they scrapped tests for breast cancer for women instead?! THIS is the REAL 'Equality gap'.RALP is likely way overstated in its benefits compared to RRP. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4220385/ "RALP appears to provide beneficial potency rates compared with RRP; however, these effects are most pronounced at high-volume centers with experienced surgeons" so at best a slight improvement if you happen to have surgery at the right centre. Additionaly it is not correct that "prostate cancer is a slowly growing cancer". It can be, but that is not the type that kills you. The p… | /r/MensRights | 30/11/19 06:43 PM |

Imagine the outcry if they scrapped tests for breast cancer for women instead?! THIS is the REAL 'Equality gap'.They are not as actively harmful as unnecessary workup and treatment from an elevated PSA. Check out https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jpd9HavqMiI for a Quick summary, or check out uptodate for more details. Wether or not screening is actually useful at all to reduce mortality is debated. If it is (one study showed a relative reduction of 20%) it came at a NNT of 50. That is a LOT of impotent and/or incontinent men Who would have been fine without any screening. Imagine the outcry if they scrapped tests for breast cancer for women instead?! THIS is the REAL 'Equality gap'.The PSA test is pretty worthless, the medical community seems to get to a consensus that it should not be used as a routine screening tool. Until something better is discovered (and documented with higher specifity and sensitivity) it makes sense to decrease the use of testing | /r/MensRights | 30/11/19 05:56 PM |
| 14 | Woman from Norway sentenced to pay $50,000 for false rape accusations. [Translated Norwegian Source] (x-post /r/JusticePorn)It says in norwegian "Oslo tingrett mener det 91 minutter lange lydopptaket viser at det ikke fant sted noen voldtekt, og at fornærmede utvilsomt ga en uriktig forklaring i anmeldelsen." I don't know why the translation is way off. The correct translation would be: "Oslo district court finds that the 91-minute audio recording shows that there was no rape, and that the plaintiff undoubtedly gave an inncorrect explanation in her lodgment" | /r/PussyPassDenied | 20/11/14 04:25 AM |
