On the government side? Hell yes. I do know some feminists from Saudi Arabia and UAE who do some good work (although it takes a loooong time)

Isn't it just human nature to care chiefly about what's in your vicinity? We saw it with recent events where Europeans didn't care much for the grave body count of terror attacks in the middle east, but when a medium sized attack occured in Europe the European community was abuzz with coverage and condemnation. My point is that emotional resonance diminishes with geographical and socio-economical distance

This is very interesting. I do think that "years of retirement enjoyed" is a bad metric for gender discrimination because it will be skewed by women living longer. I think a better metric is the age of retirement, and your numbers do show discrimination there
