treat her like a girlfriend This has to make all the difference. You can't treat a chick like you're best buds and then be surprised she treats you that way.

I don't get it - the girl took you to her bed and you didn't make any moves and you're wondering if that means that she's not into you? That girl is probably right now wondering what went wrong that you didn't want to sleep with her. She took you to her bed and got in it with you!

I guess my response stemmed from the fact that I tell people all the time that I "can't" cook, but I don't mean it literally. I mean, I'm sure she knows how to boil water and put some rice in it. But really, that's almost beside the point. It seemed to me that the woman was having a discussion about her career/ educational goals and OP interjected a comment intended to highlight what he perceives to be her failure at fulfilling her expected gender role. He's derisive of her goals because they do…

I think this post is kind of weird just because I don't think that you're being very specific with what your'e talking about. I don't know how to cook in an elaborate way the way you imagine a housewife would cook - with a lot of variety and stuff you have to put in the oven three hours ahead of when you want to eat. I DO know how to cook well enough to feed myself on a daily basis and put together a nice dinner party for a few guests though that's a lot of work and I do that maybe once every fe…

I have complimented guys. Outside of romantic contexts I've told guys if I liked their outfit or hair style. I remember one time I told someone I thought he had pretty eyes but then he looked really uncomfortable and wouldn't look at me anymore - I don't know if he was bothered I used the word "pretty." In a romantic context, I don't as much, but I think it's because the physical stops being as important and I'm more likely to compliment someone for being nice to me, doing something thoughtful o…

I think the comments here are a pretty good example of why some women might not compliment men. We can't win. If we compliment, people like u/steadymotion thinks we're trying to get some kind of leverage; if we don't, people like u/trp_lurker thinks that's a power play. Seems like it's safest to keep our opinions to ourselves...

"We're probably around the same age, what's your birth date? And your mother's maiden name?"

I think your direct approach is maybe more direct than it needs to be. I mean, girls aren't stupid. You know a guy notices you if he talks to you at all. You don't need him to come right out and be like "I find you attractive and want to get to know you." They get it. Just keep it casual and impersonal. "I've been waiting so long for this train - I hope it comes soon." or "it's so crowded today - I hope I find a seat." Not even anything that needs an answer. Don't ask a bunch of questions about …

This reminds me of a story. I was walking down the street one day and I realized I had a frown on my face for no reason - I was having a good day, I felt good! So I decided to look like it and started smiling. Not five minutes later some guy passing by compliments my smile and chats me up for a minute. Perfectly nice and I walk away feeling good and thinking smiling might be where it's at. Except a few blocks later he had caught up to me again in his car offering me a ride. I told him no (becaus…

I don't know from where you're writing, but just a caution, in my state at least, it's illegal to force out a tenant by turning off utilities and there are penalties if you do so.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
