They talked about it before-hand like sensible people. The chances of someone "misleading" you to that point are tiny, because that's usually a good way for them to get their asses kicked or killed. So, not a popular 'tactic'.

I think she was tolerated reasonably, specifically because they were able to de-escalate and solve it WITHOUT beating anyone's ass. I think restraint should be more common, not less.

The article does not contain or imply the phrase "not what feminism is about." That's got to be a good thing, right? 30% of the comments here in /r/mensrights are usually "why aren't women talking about men's problems!?" Some people here are now pissed that they are; you can't have it both ways. I recommend sticking to the "do it yourself, like they did" approach.

The MRM is responsible for making itself known, and for helping men's issues, just the way Feminism did for women. It's not Feminism's job to also fix men's problems. It's great that they're willing to help, and Emma did a great job including men in her speech and addressing men's issues, but why would you put it on them to fix your problems?
