Obviously not competitive cycling, lol. But riding a cheap bike to get around costs much less than a car or ubers etc., and improves fitness and physical appearance.

Youthfulness is almost universally attractive, by which I mean looking like someone recently post puberty. That specific style of generic graphic tshirts tend to signal a very young, pre-puberty aesthetic—to be blunt, it looks like something cheap and aesthetically inoffensive that your mum would buy in a 5 pack for you because you are a 12 year old kid who doesn't care about what he wears. Wearing graphic tees is broadly fine (if I see a 19 year old on the street in a graphic tshirt, I don't th…

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I looked through your profile: you're normal looking and even fairly good-looking on the human spectrum, but you're certainly never going to be a supermodel or a heartthrob actor. This is the normal human condition; most people are not supermodels. I have a lot of male friends in fulfilling relationships: some are better looking than you, but a lot are not. They are normal-looking and dating normal-looking women. The female gaze is not fixed (in fact, this ter…

If your partner abides by tenants of "The Red Pill", you are de facto in an emotionally abusive relationship. The Red Pill advises extremely manipulative behaviour—which you are describing him inflicting upon you. He thinks my body count isn’t a true number when in fact it is. He is baselessly accusing you of lying. This is not a healthy relationship and not viable longterm. he refuses to spend time with me and my family because it is too inconvenient for him If someone is unwilling to get invol…

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I'd post this to thebluepill too, I've seen similar before eg this lady who found her partner's accounts. Folks are pretty nice there most of the time. For my two cents, him reading and participating in this sort of hateful nastiness, propositioning people behind your back is already so far over any line. It means you need to get out as soon and as safely as possible. I'm sorry to be the one telling you to tear your life apart, but I can't see what a test c…

Sounds like a great book. It's good to read some things that take a evaluative, overarching approach to analysis. I think people are too quick to dismiss the philosophical underpinnings and assumptions that drive research. I bet we have a lot of anti-human hot takes post Trump-era.

like it's immutable law and everything is genetically determined Yeah, this gets me too. Especially because philosophically, I tend to defer to scientific research above all else. I'm not religious, I'm not superstitious, don't believe in anything beyond the physical world, and so causal, concrete answers to complex behavioural issues are very appealing to me. It aligns with my worldview, the supremacy of scientific reasoning, even when the things I'm reading aren't scientifically valid. Even th…

I doubt it helps, I'm a woman who struggles with the exact same feeling of being utterly disposable, except my expiration date is when I reach 30. So I'm living the good life for now, but I swear I can hear that ticking clock. But then another part of me knows it's not true, because I see women around me living incredibly fulfilling, interesting lives at all ages. It's not the same, and to be honest, my approach probably won't work if you still buy into that world-view. I think the best way to d…

Right, but here's what she's saying: you're lost, so you can steer downhill through the tree-filled forest, or you can go down the slope without any trees. There's a bunch of detractive, pseudoscience-as-philosophy aspects of TRP that don't exist in other self-help spaces.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
