I agree with him on one part: we should treat men with “the respect that they deserve.” That’s exactly what we’re doing here, adjusting our level of respect to what they actually deserve.

I don’t know the exact time like, but Brian sent a text from Gabby’s phone to her parents at some point. He then drove straight across the country to FL. There was some sort of incident reported at Brian’s parents house before she was officially missing, I think where Gabby’s parents were trying to get the police involved to talk to him and his family because they knew something was wrong and he had just come back without her. I’m sure his parents were lying and/or not speaking to her parents.

The reactions are so disturbing, but unfortunately not surprising. I believe those scratches were actually self defense marks and that he’d already been physically violent with her. It’s obvious from the way she immediately takes responsibility that she didn’t want him to get in trouble. She’s breaking down because he’s been breaking her down mentally and emotionally and telling her she’s too emotional/anxious when she was likely responding to abusive behavior. I’ve seen this behavior from multi…

That’s what I’m planning to do one day. Children in the system are even more at risk and often have already experienced sexual trauma. I can’t think of anyone who would make a better foster/adoptive parent for a girl in the system than a FDS woman who is truly awake to the reality girls face. It’s a huge service we can do for the next generation of women and can change an individual girl’s life in the most meaningful way!

I don’t have kids, but I do know from watching my parents and others (and working with kids from many different families and learning about child psychology) that it’s really important that he treats you well. She will watch that treatment and believe she deserves similar treatment from men. It’s the number one model in her life for forming a worldview about relationships and men. I think it’s important for your husband to understand this and model what being a good partner and husband looks lik…

There are two UIC pharmacy profs who look similar but their hair isn’t quite as receded in the available pictures (I just image searched UIC professors and spotted them). He could definitely be identified by his voice by someone who knows him but no telling if he works there or is just an alum.

And think of all the “eccentric” male writers and artists who are allowed by society to leverage their differences into stunning careers. How many women, I wonder, have never been allowed to express their true thoughts and feelings and creativity because they get stuck being polite and silent out of fear, being gaslit and in turn self-gaslighting, and producing only work “appropriate” for a woman. We either self-police or are policed, and actual creative genius in women is quickly socially shut …

This post is SO important. Women groomed me and enforced patriarchy just as much as men as I was growing up. They normalized and brainwashed, because they were brainwashed themselves into the religious cult of patriarchy. I see it everywhere now as an adult and it makes me sick the way women excuse male abuse of all kinds to other women and socially enforce silence.

I thought my whole life there was something inherently wrong with me, an idea put in my head by family who couldn’t take responsibility for their actions to a child. It ruined my life and set me up to accept abuse from men because I thought I deserved it and because that’s how I was treated by family who supposedly loved me. At the same time, they would put me down and treat me like I was stupid for not being as high achieving after a lifetime of sexual and domestic abuse (that I was of course a…

Oh for sure. In my case he was also abusive and took all my money in addition to years I should’ve been spending on my development and education. It’s really hard to recover and honestly came with a great deal of shame for me. I hate seeing young women acting like it’s a flex and I remember thinking it was, but it’s actually so damaging on so many levels. Now when I see it, I feel sorry for the young woman and am disgusted at the man. It’s pathetic to prey on people who haven’t even yet had a ch…

I’m interested to see part two. I think something a lot of these old douches don’t consider is that the young woman will continue to grow and evolve, and she will grow and evolve past him even if he tries to emotionally abuse her into submission. So a lot of these dudes will end up alone again, while the woman (if she survives and is able to leave) takes the incredibly heavy lesson and goes on to have a life again. It sucks because you do lose your youth (I speak from experience), but at least y…

This one of the many reasons is why I’m torn about the forever girlfriend thing always being bad. Tbh marriage scares the hell out of me after several abusive relationships with men who wanted to marry me, and watching the marriages and divorces of so many others. I don’t think you can know who a man truly is for at least 2-4 years, and often until you live with him. But then if you’re legally bound, or worse, have children with him, often you can never fully escape. I used to work with an older…

The Witch for sure, featuring a female child of a LVM who gets his family kicked out of the safety of a colony and proceeds to scapegoat her for all the family’s subsequent problems. Also The Love Witch (while I think a lot of people locked onto the aesthetics and missed the point) is to me about the deep delusion and socially destructive and self-destructive behavior caused by debilitating internalized misogyny (it seems due at least in part to prior abuse and brainwashing, with her ex and her …

I agree with your first statement but respectfully disagree with your second. If you look at terms like R or N, the projection onto others as a slur enforces the idea that the identity associated with the word is lesser. So words like “b###h” and “p###y” when applied to men suggest weakness because of the effeminate connotation of the words. I would prefer that we use male oriented words to denote weakness from here on out, both in the name of historical equality (in returning what’s been done) …

Not sure that’s necessarily a red flag, but if it doesn’t align with your lifestyle then I wouldn’t go there. Like if you want to have kids, that’s probably not wise. But I do think if they pressure you to do anything you’re not comfortable with, that’s a big red flag. I would personally like to do some more physically adventurous things since I’m childfree, but I’m also not into guys who motorcycle or skydive. So maybe I do get red flags from that? It seriously warms my heart to hear other women voice their righteous anger. It can be exhausting, too, but I think also transformative. Your poem is like a metamorphosis you are going through for a true leveling up in seeing yourself as a human being. Men should be afraid of our anger and power after what they’ve collectively done and continue to do.

Very true, which is why the LVM in charge who will never take responsibility need to be ousted! Men orchestrated this whole system. I like to believe that if women had total global control (and weren’t culturally brainwashed and didn’t have religions and relationships weaponized to keep us submissive) we’d actually figure out pretty quickly how to feed everyone, provide healthcare and education, and repair our ecosystems and biosphere with massive permaculture projects and creative collaboration…

I guess I mean sometimes we use it as a coping mechanism to deal with relative powerlessness and personal gender based trauma in a system of male supremacy. I recognize that at this point we’re also playing into the destruction of the planet and exploitation people and animals in unethical production practices. A lot of us are addicted to consuming, for many different reasons, but some of them include trying trying to fill a void or as an outlet for stress. There’s sort of a cultural meme of “sh…

I agree. I think it’s sort of tragically poetic that they wrought their own destruction (dwindling sperm viability, poisoned their own bodies with plastics and toxins, ecosystem destruction creating a highly precarious food system, heading towards an uninhabitable planet, etc) as a result of a long pattern of attempting to dominate nature instead of working with it. Just like they attempt to dominate women and animals. There is a direct line between male supremacy and colonialism, ethnic cleansi…

We just want equality. And that equality would, in the name of fairness, be 13,000 years, give or take, of women holding 99% of all leadership and decision-making roles at every level of government and private organization, globally. Unfortunately we’ll still have to deal with the cleanup of what the perpetually authoritarian patriarchy has done (despite the more recent western male attempts at “democracy,” which of course are generally still established on the exploitation and exclusion of wome…

Totally, you have to also protect yourself and it becomes like abuse by proxy because you’re always having to deal with the fallout. I hope she is able to climb out of it one day but you can’t do it for her and don’t need to continually be put through it either.

Also unfortunately when you’re in an abusive relationship, advice doesn’t really help tbh. It often comes across as judgemental/victim blaming or controlling. People often have to get to the point where either their self esteem is raised enough or the abuse is bad enough that they have to leave, because typically the abuser is gaslighting them and they don’t trust themselves or others. Definitely not saying you have to stick around either, just explaining why it doesn’t work.

Being a bubbly fool is often a trauma response called fawn that develops in childhood. Speaking from experience, it can be the result of long term gender based abuse. I’m pretty book smart, yet in many social situations it takes over. It is scary. I’m learning to control it, but it’s a horror show to watch internally, especially combined with freeze in dangerous situations and codependency in relationships. Totally, and on top of this there is the cultural meme of the boys club not discussing what happens at the bachelor party, where using sex workers and giving the groom an opportunity to cheat on his bride to be right before the wedding is normalized. It’s disgusting to not only risk the mental well-being and physical safety of the bride (as in the potential to pass along an std), but reinforces the classist notion that there are women you physically exploit and discard and women you marry (often…

Exactly, or I guess maybe I consider sharing information about awful things men have done or are doing to not be gossip, though, and more as important conversation that either seeks to keep other women safe or someone needing feedback. Gossip to me is superficial and generally has a pickme flavor, judging other women in attempt to seem cool, above feelings (as in group gaslighting of a woman speaking out about a man), or special because they don’t make whatever faux pas.

I made a comment on another post about a month ago along the lines of “men have a serious violence problem and are a national security issue” and then just the other day got an automod message that it had been removed. Thank you for including pickme women in this too. I have experienced extreme gender based social pressure from certain other women that they do not expect from the men in their lives. I was wondering if that’s what she means by “exist for us.” Like biologically, aren’t they supposed to just be hunting and protecting? I’m good with that, the issue is the unnatural social control and treating women as property. It’s just been around so long now they think it is natural, but it’s not. Ugh oh wow. I’m so sorry to hear that. I think neuroscience and psychology still have a ways to go on truly understanding social trauma :( Edit: I want to add there was this whole thread on another subreddit recently about how women don’t get the same amount or quality sleep as men, and none of the men on the thread could understand why. I probably shouldn’t have said “worst,” because of course it varies by every situation. I do have a lot of sympathy for all abuse victims, even if they continue the abuse. PTSD and CPTSD can also cause a lot of anger and irritability. I think it’s a huge huge societal problem that we all have to deal with, unfortunately. But still, protecting our own brains has to be our top priority so we don’t continue these patterns.

Many of us who end up in relationships with narcissistic abusers also come from families rife with narcissistic abuse (including inadvertent abuse by female family members with internalized misogyny). Siblings can be the worst abusers because they feel entitled to continue patterns they developed in childhood (often as an outlet for abusive parental behavior). Don’t be afraid to cut them off if they continue into adulthood. You can’t just “turn off” love when you part ways with an abuser, and th…

YES. It has been so liberating! I realized that even the times I’ve been single in the past were so colored by what everyone thought of me. Very timely to read this. I recently rewatched The Witch and have been thinking about it so much in the context of FDS and as metaphor for what happened to me and so, so many women who have been scapegoated for men’s problems and violence, often starting in childhood. The idea of a girl or woman gaining perspective and seeing a sick town, family, or society for what it is and daring to be even the slightest bit different (or speaking out, or checking out entirely) was (is) so “dangerous” that it…

I really think one of ways gaslighting and grooming works is isolation. Believe the problem is you, become isolated or not see any examples of HVM, and you’ll endure anything and still want to be picked to confirm you’re worthy of love (even if it’s not real). The FDS community and leaning about CPTSD and dysfunctional system trauma is the antidote for patriarchal gaslighting and victim blaming.

This so much. Women who get into these kinds of relationships also often don’t come from a great home or have other reasons why they think this is all they deserve, and it is very, very hard to leave abusers. I think as more women become outspoken about what abuse really is and how incredibly common it is, it will be easier for others to leave.

I know HVM are rare, but I do truly appreciate seeing examples of HV male behavior. I think it’s really important for men to see examples of other men standing up to or calling out misogyny. I know some of them may call it out on one hand and then be misogynists in a million other ways, but it’s at least a small encouraging step in turning the social tide. It may be a journey of another thousand years, but it’s something.

I know it will never fully go away, but it’s something I have realized I need to keep close to my chest because this is exactly what happens. FDS is necessary and righteous (& keeps me from self-immolating lol). The risks in partnership (and mere existence!) are not equal, and the genders are not equally violent. Men have a violence problem.

This is very true! Unfortunately a lot of people with CPTSD from childhood abuse don’t have the chance for that, though. People who don’t develop ptsd after trauma typically have solid social support, so it’s important to look at it not as a personal failing or choice, especially if it started in childhood. That being said, I think that’s exactly why FDS is sooo important for women who experienced trauma (especially gender based trauma) as children, because we see each other and acknowledge thes…

I cannot believe he has ever been allowed to report on MM without a disclaimer about that! I am just blown away.

What’s most disturbing to me is that it’s actually a woman, and she’s objectifying her own daughters. I have a lot of sympathy for Pickmes, but it ends when they involve children.

Same! CSA and everything that happened in the years that followed literally damaged my brain until I truly thought I wanted all this. I do. Not. Want.

Sooo this “Christian” woman is posting a representation of her daughters’ vaginas on the internet for her friends to see?? Using lunch meat?? And grossly misunderstanding anatomy, genetics, cause and effect, and idk...how to be a decent human being and mother? Disgusting. Jesus would be so proud 🙄

This is why it makes me sooo angry that voter registration data with addresses are published in my state (uhh also not listing for privacy, just google voter lookup in your state because it might not just be mine). I have been scared ever since I changed it in order to vote in November, and am increasingly scared because the situation with the person is getting worse. It’s bullshit to make victims of domestic violence and other crimes choose between their safety and their right to vote. *update:…

Very much this. And it often starts with “diagnosing” and medicating girls who are responding to abuse or even just doing normal kid things like having energy or being silly. It breaks my heart. It’s a long tradition in America that I think has only slightly changed form. There’s a short story I recommend that reminds me of this, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

YES to all of this. What a fantastic comment and perspective and I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. “Narc bait” as you call it results in surprise! doctors who don’t actually care about their patients. Of course it’s often an incredibly difficult job, but this idea that we must continue our immoral for profit healthcare system because people won’t become doctors if they’re not paid obscenely is bunk. All sorts of people do difficult and specialized medical professions without narc bait req…

I know women die every year because their male doctors don’t believe them. When I was 23, I had a pain in my groin and told my doctor I was worried I had a blood clot. He spoke to my bf in the room with us instead of me, telling him it sounded like I had an std. I told him that was impossible (at least on my end). I kept calling back, telling him the pain was getting worse and moving, and was told to just wait for blood test results. A few days later I woke up and my leg was bright red and swoll…

Ugh that sucks (about the mod). I would like both places to be safe for women to speak freely because I think both subs are very necessary.

If they do it would be a shame IMO. It’s not a leap at all as far as the content. If I had discovered FDS when I was younger, maybe I wouldn’t have been raped by so many of my long term boyfriends and been feeling less like going my own way now. I think both subs are a blessing.

Honestly this sub is so important to me and has changed my life...do you know if there is a game plan if it is ever banned? Like why can’t women have one place where feminism doesn’t also include performative sexuality for male benefit and we can actually speak our minds :( I’m so afraid they’ll shut us down.

Exactly. I did a lot of reading into redpill back when I first heard about it. They are polar opposites, and not because we’re opposite genders. We are NOT trying to “get” men or game them. We are trying to protect each other from dangerous ones.

I don’t think you’re over sharing...I think this is the reality for many of us. It’s why I am both on FDS and WGTOW. High value men who truly respect women and are able to stay in a long term relationship or marriage without being abusive, controlling, gaslighting, or having secret affairs at best (secretly abusing children at worst) and who wouldn’t eventually leave their wife when she gets old or gets cancer or abandon their children, are a myth to me until proven otherwise. A man can seem per…

I think I was 13 too! And at that stage in my developing womanhood, learning about the realities of FGM was so impactful. I still mistakenly thought I’d be safe from men in America at that age, but I never forgot her story. I started following her on Instagram last night (waris.dirie) and seeing the pictures and videos of her humanitarian work and emphasis on raising up girls across Africa through education makes my heart soar. Truly a founding mother of our eventual global matriarchy :)

I would also be interested in recommendations. When I was a teenager, I read an incredible (and horrific) autobiography of a Somali woman who experienced female genital mutilation and rape in a forced marriage. It has stuck with me my entire life. She escaped and ended up becoming an international super model, actress, humanitarian, and author. I’m sitting here crying just thinking about it and want to finally re-read as an adult. Her name is Waris Dirie, and the book is Desert Flower.

Omg I love this idea!! Finding this community has lifted me up SO much. I find myself skipping songs alllll the time. I listen to a range of genres and decades, but if I hear a man start crooning about taking him back after doing wrong or a woman crying about how she’ll give up anything for a man — SKIP. So having playlists where I don’t even have to be exposed to that LV crap is sooo refreshing :)

Just rewatched the Royal Tenenbaums the other day and realized that Etheline is a HVW and Henry is a HVM! Royal is definitely a LVM and the kids’ early success is to Etheline’s credit. Edit: I’m so late to this, but also: (currently on Netflix) How Do You Know with Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson!
