Woman slashes children's throats to keep them quiet. Whose fault is it? Hint: not hers.probability of abuse is not independent of time spent with child Apparently suggesting it is gets you downvoted to oblivion in this subreddit. | /r/MensRights | 29/01/15 03:43 PM
| -8 | Woman slashes children's throats to keep them quiet. Whose fault is it? Hint: not hers.Isn't that a little misleading? There are a lot more mother-only households than father-only. Well not misleading really (clearly moms abuse kids more than dads), but I would like to see how that breaks down in 2-parent-only households. Not saying it still wouldn't be the case, but the results would probably be a little less skewed. I bet also single parent households are in general more prone to abuse. | /r/MensRights | 28/01/15 09:58 PM |
Series on Circumcision | Psychology TodayThanks for that. When it got to -6 without a single reply I assumed this wasn't a discussion and deleted my post. I like posting here, don't want to get the delayed posting caused by bad karma. | /r/MensRights | 20/11/11 01:32 AM
Series on Circumcision | Psychology TodayWhy did you show me that? I had spent this whole week building up faith in humanity. What the fuck is wrong with people? | /r/MensRights | 20/11/11 12:39 AM
Series on Circumcision | Psychology TodayHoly cow I didn't know people were so defensive about doing stupid things like not breastfeeding. If I were that author I would not have been that patient. That's like someone saying "You can't tell me not to smoke around my kids! That's my decision as a parent!" | /r/MensRights | 20/11/11 12:00 AM
Don't Get Married, Exhibit #2,762: John Cleese Gets Fucked by the Long Strap-On of the Divorce Courts. Why would an ex-wife get more then half of his money?Or: Prenup | /r/MensRights | 21/06/11 09:28 PM
Mentally impaired teen beaten into unconsciousness and the word 'Rapest' was tattooed on his forehead, over a rape that never happenedIt's not a matter of someone not liking you. Well, in fact it is. What if this guy DID rape that girl, and what if the police refused to do anything about it? By the way, this is ALL possible. The mention of motives in a case serve to prove guilt as well as determine how much we sanction the brutality (ie sentencing). If we like the person, they get a different sentence--that's one of the reasons why we get character witnesses and things of that nature. Our jurisprudence has long recognized that… | /r/MensRights | 04/05/11 06:44 PM
Mentally impaired teen beaten into unconsciousness and the word 'Rapest' was tattooed on his forehead, over a rape that never happenedBut one legitimate purpose of sentencing is to express the community's outrage. That's hardly legitimate. If I shoplift $5 worth of goods I don't want the maximum 5 year sentence just because the community doesn't like me. Justice should be, but sadly isn't, blind. I do agree that they should get these guys for 10 years each for attempted murder and SEXUAL ASSAULT (for genital tasing), but someone called for life sentences.... that's just ridiculous. While obviously not very bright, these guys s… | /r/MensRights | 04/05/11 06:06 PM
Woman accuses boyfriend of rape because she was upset that her boyfriend took her cellphone. He should sue her and the state for that. If you're robbing a store and the clerk accidentally shoots a customer, you can be charged with murder. She should bear responsibility for the full impact of her actions. On a more general level (as has been fully discussed in many threads here before), prison rape needs to be taken more seriously and better/easier justice and compensation for the victims should exist. That's a rant for another day though :) | /r/MensRights | 10/04/11 05:40 PM
Merriam-Webster definition of MASCULINIST: an advocate of male superiority or dominance. (As opposed to feminist which is an advocate for equality.) Interesting bit of propaganda.Propaganda? Sinister is another word for left (as in left-handed), "idiot" and "vulgar" are from the latin/greek words for "common" (as in commoner/peasant) In english, there are tons of words that spring up from strange/ignorant etymologies. | /r/MensRights | 10/04/11 01:20 PM
I was arrested for domestic violence...You and your ex shouldn't have said anything to the cops. When the showed up just say "I don't talk to cops without a lawyer". Tell your girlfriend that she'll go to jail and will be charged if she says anything (which is true). It's messed up that they seemed to have treated you differently than her, and reacted differently to your actions as hers, but the reality is: Never talk to cops, about anything, ever. | /r/MensRights | 01/12/10 09:35 PM
Mothering: The Case Against CircumcisionNow that such current excuses as the claim that this procedure prevents cancer and sexually transmitted diseases have been thoroughly discredited They have? What about UTIs? | /r/MensRights | 30/10/10 06:50 PM
As oral sex becomes more popular, throat and neck cancers in men are starting to rise. Whether correlation or causation, many doctors are recommending that all boys be vaccinated against HPV.There's a lot of conflating variables here. *Men are at higher risk for HIV, which makes HPV and cancer in general worse *Men smoke more. Smoking causes far more throat cancer than HPV Also, the FDA only recently approved Gardisil for boys. Gardisil is expensive and actually costs way more to administer than treatment of the rare cancer HPV infections cause in men. To give you an idea, the cost savings is even controversial in women though the rate of disease incidence from infection is far high… | /r/MensRights | 23/10/10 05:18 PM
If I cut out your ovaries with a rusty spoon, I would be in prison for a period longer than two-and-a-half years.... Unless I said I never meant to harm you.Your argument relies on this hypothetical victim bleeding to death. No, it relies on the deadliness of the action. The exact same act, perpetrated against a woman, would have carried a harsher sentence. Opening up someone's abdomen and tearing out a highly vascularized organ is a hell of a lot different than this, I'm afraid. The assault is a lot deadlier and could be construed as attempted murder. | /r/MensRights | 04/06/10 12:51 PM
If I cut out your ovaries with a rusty spoon, I would be in prison for a period longer than two-and-a-half years.... Unless I said I never meant to harm you.If you actually believe this girl is psychotic and is a danger to others, she should be put institutionalized, not just medicated. | /r/MensRights | 03/06/10 10:19 PM
If I cut out your ovaries with a rusty spoon, I would be in prison for a period longer than two-and-a-half years.... Unless I said I never meant to harm you.If a man were to rip out the reporductive organs of a woman, he would be in jail for the rest of his LIFE, not two years. Well since that would probably cause her to bleed to death within a few minutes (the uterine arteries shunt up to 20% of total blood pumped in each heart beat), yeah, I'd say attempted murder should be punished worse. And by the way, you only really need one good testicle for fertility/hormones, the second is just there for backup purposes (the girl in this story only ripped … | /r/MensRights | 03/06/10 10:15 PM
Male birth control pill seems to be coming in the near future. Do feminists seriously have a problem with this?Primarily focusing on any number of the steps in sperm maturation....which does have an off-switch. Not a natural one. There are basically two theoretical non-hormonal ways they're talking about, and neither are pills nor are they safe: One is basically a peptide that will disable the Cs protein somehow. Supposedly this will render sperm immotile. This is still highly experimental and I doubt it'll be viable as it'll have extremely variable efficacy--potentially leaving people sterile or fertile… | /r/MensRights | 18/05/10 04:25 PM
Male birth control pill seems to be coming in the near future. Do feminists seriously have a problem with this?As a practical matter, I think this is moot: As a medical student, I really wouldn't bet on a male birth control pill.. And I almost certainly wouldn't take one anytime soon if it were offered (not for a long, long time after it came out). Female birth control pills work because females have a built-in "off" switch for their reproductive system: pregnancy (you don't want to get pregnant while you're pregnant, that would be bad). Birth control pills mess with hormonal levels to either stop ovulat… | /r/MensRights | 17/05/10 01:20 PM
I want your thoughts on this issue... slut shaming encouraging false rape claimsThat much is self-evident. Anyone who puts somebody else in jail to save their own reputation is a pile of human garbage. That said, this was more about the point that shaming females is contributing to more false rape claims rather than pointing out the hideousness of it. Most women obviously wouldn't do this, but there are many that would, and the societal effects are unconscionable. Moreover, female sexuality is a beautiful thing that shouldn't be judged unless it's pathologic (sex addictions… | /r/MensRights | 16/05/10 08:15 PM
