The only time I ever hear creep being used in that way is from guys describing why they are being called a creep. There are a lot of non verbal cues that people give about whether they are or are not interested that some people do not pick up on and push against there comfort boundaries anyway. There is a difference between being labeled for what is a consensual activity between all parties involved(often by an uninvolved third party) versus someone labeling the unwanted actions of a person due …

take the comments here with a grain of salt, a lot of the denizens of this sub are jaded and biased. I thought the idea of the sub was interesting but left after seeing the vocal minority of thinly veiled misogynists become more vocal and less of a minority. Only back here because I was specifically looking to see if your article had been already posted on reddit.

That usually only happens when they talk about those things to interrupt or derail conversations about issues women face, as if women's issues don't exist because there are also men's issues.

not exactly. It's not saying someone is wrong because of their gender, but it is a complaint about a type of dismissive, condescending attitude that happens often in the male->female direction. the problem is that making it a gendered term is in it self unfairly dismissive of men as a group. If you look at the article this one is responding to, it gives a good explanation of the phenomenon the term "mansplaining" is actually supposed to be referring to when not being over-used.

it may not be an unfair bias but it is a bias.

I think they are manipulative, just not self-aware enough to realize that they are. Some of those people would probably stop being so if they did realize it.

How many have started mens rights related petitions on change.org? It could simply be a matter of not enough content for a separate section.

Isn't worrying about someone lying about being on a pill something MRA's get lampooned for worrying about pretty frequently? Pretty amusing that the argument is coming from the feminists too.

The response to this article confirms all the things I try to argue against when people complain about MR.

Even if you don't get paid more for overtime doing overtime can make you a better candidate when it comes time for handing out raises and/or promotions.

I am not saying that it happens all the time, just that it does occur. I don't think its most people its just that when people do it, they are very vocal. The implication the I must be a misandrist simply because I believe that misogyny occasional occurs here by trolls is ridiculous.

Because the same society that teaches men that they are expendable agents teaches women that they are vulnerable victims.

I didn't say he had threatened rape, just that she could have been afraid of it. Have you never been afraid of something that wasn't nearly as likely as you perceived it to be? How much of a stretch that is is kind of my point though. In the gender swap Scenario expressing attraction is NOT the same thing as a threat of abusing the system to get the teacher reprimanded, fired, imprisoned etc.

knowing he can do nothing about it assumption #1 both that he can't do anything about it and that she is aware of this fact, if it is the case. There are things a male teacher could do in the situation, they may be constrained by fear of retaliation and false accusations from the student but that doesn't mean the teacher is powerless. The female teacher in the above situation could have been afraid of retaliation and the male student tracking her down and physically overpowering her and doing so…

How do you think this story would have played out differently if the student were female?

I don't think anyone is suggesting the actions were wise, but that the response is grossly overbearing and out of proportion with the offense. This should have been resolved with the teacher going to the student and telling him to cut that shit out, with escalation if it continued after the fact. From the article here it seems like the teacher never even talked to him about his actions and how inappropriate they were.

I think you could make a fair case that differentiating between sexual harassment and other types of harassment is a pointless exercise, but that is not what your original statement of there is no such thing as sexual harassment implied. It seemed like you were saying that harassment of a sexual nature doesn't occur.

There is misogyny here and trolls. The problem is whenever someone disagrees or doesn't understand the point being brought up in a post they got set upon by the trolls before rational people can come and answer their questions, address their issues, etc. These trolls I have seen several times in several threads and when it occurs no one else seems to reproach them(which makes sense because they're trolls and "don't feed the troll") which to an outsider gives the appearance of silent approval of …

I don't think I'd go that far. There are definitely legitimate cases of sexual harassment. There are also unfortunately cases where rather then talk to someone expressing attraction or having any sort of confrontation one decides to try and have a system remove the potential conversation for them. At the same time people stalking, constantly harassing someone whose made it clear they have no interest in the guy/girl is a problem that should be addressed.

is it the SAME women saying the first statement and the second?

I think its a no because of just because you are a woman part. I think thirsting believes everyone male or female should be left alone if they wish. There is a difference between saying something to a woman and then moving on with your day, and harassing a woman when she ignores your "compliment".

well most of the more complex interactions between men and women are just interactions between people some of whom happen to be men and some happen to be women. It's also a response to a pretty specific issue.

What are your thoughts on this article mensRights? I think it is a good illustration that men aren't the only one who can change behaviors for everyone to get along.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/feminism the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men. People associate a lot of other baggage with the term but it only inherently means wanting equal rights. There are different schools of feminism which have different ideas of how to achieve this and one of the most vocal ones include things like reverse discrimination but that is not the whole of feminism and I think we hurt the possibility of positive d…

Nowhere in this thread was it said that all or most women do this. They are acknowledging that it does happen and trying to decrease the frequency. As far as AntiFeministMedia's comment, that is an entirely different thread and almost every comment he's made in that thread has been downvoted heavily. He is a troll and shouldn't be considered in any serious discussion.

I don't think that's a fair assumption that a woman wouldn't be here if she was a feminist. It is possibly to care about women's rights and still also care about men's rights is it not? After all sexism and forced gender roles hurt/affect all sides.
