Getting to know yourself better is the first step. What are your deal breakers? What would make you stop talking to someone right away? What could you work through with them? What do you think respect looks like? How do you handle stress? How do you act when you’re angry? How do you handle your finances? Do you want kids? Do you tolerate drug or alcohol use? Is age difference a concern? Is wealth a concern? Do you prefer to live in a city or in a rural setting? What religion do you practice? Wha…

I had really bad anxiety and poor boundaries so I was overly controlling when I was young. Her advice about not being an emasculating nag was great for me when I was 20 and new to a long term relationship. It helped me to really be grateful for my husband and learn to forgive him easily and quickly for his mistakes. So, yes I think it helped my marriage immensely. That being said, I think most of her advice wouldn’t apply to my relationship now, especially the communication. I prefer “Men are fr…

This man gets drunk and also makes comments about fucking other women. He is not a good man. Him being somewhat conservative and wanting a stay at home wife doesn’t mean he has good morals. This is a boatload of red flags and you should seriously reconsider this relationship. Situations like this are never just “my husband is perfect in every way except [insert level 10 flaw here].” 99.9% of the time there’s other concerning behaviour that you are desensitized to or you have been dismissing it. …

You have an incredible amount of wisdom and insight for someone your age. Your goals are incredibly noble, and the lack of support from your mother probably has to do with her own insecurities. A parent should express concerns respectfully while supporting their child's dreams. Also, if she had spent an extended time at home with her kids instead of at work, especially while homesteading, she would know that a homemaker's work is 24/7 on call with no breaks. My homemaking friends with kids tell …

Take a love language test together. It’s possible you have a different love language than him. My husband’s top love language is acts of service, so I had to learn that he felt unloved when I’d put off doing a task I said I’d do. He had to learn that I need more quality time actively doing something together (as opposed to just sitting in the same room together) because quality time is my top love language. If you’re loving each other in different ways, you will both feel unloved.

I'm not your age nor have I been married for very long, but my auntie talked to me about this very issue a few weeks ago. She's now in her late 50s and her kids are all grown up. She told me when her youngest of three was 12 and she was in her early forties, she realized she was experiencing the exact thing you are. She told me that she had kind of lost herself to motherhood, and now that her kids were so independent she felt a lack of emotional fulfillment. She said she felt like she was relyin…

Okay aside from the decision about the man, you lived with him for a long while and paid towards the house from the sounds of it. You should be able to get some compensation from that even if your name isn’t on the deed. I usually wouldn’t suggest that to someone who isn’t married but considering he cheated on you, you should go for. Lawyers often do free consults for these types of things. Maybe try looking around your area. You deserve financial stability and some compensation for the years of…

That’s an absolutely insane reason reason to leave someone you’re engaged to. Almost certainly he didn’t leave for just that reason. But even if that is the only reason, what a horrible thing to say to someone. You can’t help who you’re attracted to, but still. He knew what you looked like when he met you. Many men I know prefer petit women. Don’t lose hope or feel bad. As a woman, I prefer to be petit as well. I’m sure you’ll find a great man out there for you

No drama, doesn't entertain women who flirt with him, doesn't use social media very much, has his priorities straight, knows how to communicate what he needs and wants, has a lot of patience, is more knowledgeable, responsible, knows how to take care of me, stands up for himself, doesn't take bs from anyone, solid in his career, good understanding of boundaries, etc. It's not impossible to find all of those qualities in a younger guy but it is harder. IMO a high value man is one who puts respect at the forefront. He does not compromise his values or ethics for anything. He is secure in himself, knows what he wants, and is able to communicate about that effectively. He is straightforward and honest. He doesn’t have to be wealthy, but must be financially responsible (ex: budgets, saves). He has good hygiene and is capable of cooking and cleaning well. He is kind and respectful to all people he interacts with. He is capable of defending his girl…

You can’t expect your partner to be dolled up 100% of the time, that is unreasonable. Your partner should find you attractive when you’re wearing glasses. It’s frankly insane that he would say he doesn’t find you attractive in glasses, let alone that he’s “traumatized.” My husband has genuinely thought me beautiful in my lowest moments, as every husband should. To say he’s “traumatized” seeing you that way, and that his rude comments have caused you so much anxiety, signals to me that this relat…

I've commented on this before, but I'll go into more detail here. The wall is definitely a real thing, but it only matters in relation to fertility and having kids. If you're happily married, have some kids, etc, signs of aging won't matter. You've fulfilled your biological imperative of finding a mate and reproducing. The purpose of beauty in relation to youth is to show you are fertile. If you marry a good man, keep yourself fit and in good health, you don't need to worry about aging. You and …

My husband is 12 years older than I am. There are a lot of pros and cons to dating someone older. Communication can be difficult, because even just a decade of difference can change the way you use language. We worked through that with relative ease. I didn't face any stigma or criticism for dating someone that much older because I've always struggled to connect with people my age. My dad had a conversation with me in the beginning to make sure DH wasn't controlling or anything, but other than t…

It helps to talk about it when you're not dealing with the situation in the moment. Pick another time to discuss this topic when you can sit down together. I had a serious conversation with mine where I told him that making these types of decisions stresses me out. I don't like to make decisions about things where I lack knowledge. If he has more knowledge, I don't like to give any input. I reassured him that I will not hold back an opinion if I have one, that I will always tell him any preferen…

Those two things are diametrically opposed, so I am of the opinion that it does. You're welcome to disagree with me. From my point of view, you cannot be both a feminist and have values conducive to raising a healthy family.

Because she's a raging feminist. This is generally a conservative sub so I assumed that would be obvious. Just because you like your family and want to have kids at some point does not mean you have the values and skills to be a good parent.

Amen sis, my goodness. The way our culture treats aging is a true shame. A good man will love you throughout all the stages of your life. ETA: I think the argument is that Emma Watson hasn't had any kids yet and is very liberal with no values for family or motherhood, etc. I don't think it's appropriate to make fun of anyone's looks but that's why conservatives make fun of her.

Start getting used to easy stuff at first. For example, make a salad instead of ordering out. Put cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce or spinach, peppers, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, thyme into a bowl and boom you have a meal. It helps you to practice cutting some veggies without having to cook. Another one is sandwiches, those are super easy to make homemade. Oatmeal for breakfast is easy too. Once you're more used to eating things you've made, you could try cooking basic stuff like scramb…

To me this is another symptom of the utter lack of personal responsibility in our society. Blame the kids, blame the husband, blame society, etc. Act like everything wrong in your life is due to anything but your behaviour... etc etc. I feel bad for the generation of kids being raised right now.

I think he just needs to be left alone/ needs space for a while, unfortunately. Meaning mental and emotional space, rather than physical. People go through rough patches, and the reality is that he will either dig himself out of it, or he won't. Men tend to need a ton of time to themselves when they're upset. It's possible that this diagnosis is really affecting his self-esteem and causing him to feel insufficient in some ways. It also sounds like he might be experiencing some symptoms of depres…

I'm not looking at it with "liberal eyes." I don't view it this way, I was speaking in terms of what OP was saying. Okay, this is kind of a weird question, but are you really good looking? I dress like you do a lot of the time and people are really nice to me, but I don't think I'm good looking enough to come off as threatening. I have a friend who models and she gets the same reactions that you do. She's 5'10, thin, fit, clear skin, beautiful features, etc. Women will stare, whisper, glare, make rude comments. Maybe sounds like the wrong guy for you... I get it though. Some men just aren’t attractive once you get to know how they handle things. My partner is the first guy to never turn me off when he talks about his insecurities or problems. He somehow maintains his masculinity through it. Maybe it’s worth talking to your partner about? It might be a hurtful conversation but if you can be as gentle as possible in expressing your point of view…. Idk. Does he share red pill values too?

I feel bad for your sister. She’s probably been influenced to think that her value as a human comes from providing labour to people who likely don’t care about her. You’re providing labour to someone who would (hopefully) die for you, and it raises both of your quality of life. To me, your situation seems more meaningful.

Try to get into the best shape of your life pre-pregnancy. Lift weights to build muscle mass that will carry you through the last few months of pregnancy and the first few postpartum. Resistance training is more important than age. Also a good diet and a little bit of cardio.

Okay I know this isn’t what you came here for but you’re not ugly. You’re actually very good looking. I’m not one to bullshit or placate, and generally most people in this sub aren’t either. You need therapy or counselling of some sort. The obsession you have with your looks and how awful it makes you feel is very extreme. The way you feel about your looks does not match reality. Late to this thread but really wanted to say: if you don’t heal from those who cut you, you will bleed on those who never hurt you. It sounds like your first relationship was quite traumatic, and you still have a lot of unresolved feelings about it. I’d also say it sounds like you are feeling insecure and unsafe in the relationship, and that is manifesting itself as worry over him having a flame for his ex. Sometimes the worry manifests over cheating, death, dishonesty, etc. But ultimately, if h…

If this guy really was flirting with you, why didn’t you notice? I find this hard to believe. Either you’re being dishonest, playing coy and you did realize, or you’re oblivious to important social cues. Both are concerning. You should know when men are flirting with you because it is your responsibility to keep yourself safe. Oddly enough, the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus by Dr. John Gray really helped me to understand why surrendering is so important, and made it a lot easier to do. Laura Doyle explains that you need to surrender in her book. Dr. Gray explains why and how to surrender, without using that word. I don’t think there’s an age limit for dating, necessarily. The approach taken to dating is really important. It’s awesome that you’re excited to become a wife and mom, and that you know what you want so early! Just make sure that you do not rush into anything. It’s okay to go on lots of dates and take things really slowly. The vetting process is important. Sounds like he was over stimulated at dinner if the noises were bothering him and he was agitated. Stress can definitely have a variety of effects on the human brain, but this is pretty extreme. In my opinion, tell him to go to therapy ASAP. Having bouts where one’s functioning (sleep, eating, working out) is severely effected coupled with extreme mood changes is likely indicative of something more serious. Are you okay? Has he ever been violent with you?

To answer your question about how to maintain friendships with the opposite sex: I don’t. I don’t find it appropriate to have male friends. Given the chance, 99% of men will sleep with you. This doesn’t mean that they’re actively pursuing you, but it means that there’s always the potential for the relationship to be inappropriate. I don’t know any happily married woman who has male friends. Out of all of the couples that I know who have been married 20 or more years (which is a lot), none of the…

The mental backflips you have to do to hire people based on skin color or gender... My friend is new to North America from Japan and I explained to her about equity policies, affirmative action, etc. She thought it was horrifying that people who worked really hard and were qualified for jobs were being passed up because of the Color of their skin. She said “isn’t that racist?” I’m so sorry you have to experience this in your workplace. It really devalues your hard work and that’s so unfair.

We are like mirrors for our men. Part of the way he sees himself is based on how you see him. I can empathize that you’re less attracted to and worried about him, it’s normal to feel that way. Men have waaaay more time to spend before getting serious. Women lose their looks but men just build money and capital over time. If a guy spend 8 years with a woman and then gets married to a different woman at 30, he’s doing well. He had someone to keep him company for a while and then when he was successful and ready, he left to find a serious commitment. This is why you don’t move in together until you have the ring ladies.

Her questions were very clear. “Are any of you in relationships like this?” And “What are the pros and cons?” She was asking for advice on a ~10 year age gap, so her spouse would’ve still been a child when she was born. If I’m understanding correctly, your wife is 35 years younger? Meaning you were 35 years of age when she was born? I don’t mean to make any assumptions, but negativity and insecurity are two traits that will send men running for the hills. You should have hobbies that make you feel good about yourself, as it helps with self worth/ esteem. Also, be kind, humble, and joyful. No, the wall really is a thing. Men want beautiful women. Sex is a huge part of relationships and beauty is a big part of sex. An older woman has to work exponentially harder than a younger one. If you just spent your twenties messing around and not learning homemaking skills, not getting educated, and not being wildly successful in your career, what do you have to offer compared to a 21 year old woman? The 21 year old is just as undeveloped but she has time, fertility, and beauty on her side. I…

These “journalists” just have internalized misogyny. They hate everything feminine and they especially hate themselves for being women. They’ve been told their entire lives that to be successful you have to act like a man, get a job like a man, be rich like certain powerful men, and reject everything feminine. It’s internalized misogyny to the extreme and when they see us being happy and healthy, their self hatred flares so they have to say horrible things to make themselves feel better.

Coming from a girl who was chubby with a big nose and acne, a light touch of makeup, a cute hair do and confidence is all you need. To follow any type of belief system too closely isn’t healthy imo, so RP is something my partner and I are well versed in, but he focuses on the male side and I focus on the female side. Other than that, get off social media if you haven’t. Literally delete any instagram, Snapchat, etc. I still have Facebook for the purpose of staying in touch with family but I haven’t posted on it in two years. Practice mindfulness. Lots of good books and YouTube videos out there on mindfulness. It will help you to mind your words…

Adultery can definitely be dealt with in a relationship... stuff happens, people make bad decisions, life gets hard, etc. Whether it’s drinking, drugs, cheating, whatever, people make mistakes. That being said. Cheating sounds like the least of your issues. A good Christian man would not betray his wife while she was sick. He would happily take up chores or hire help until she fully recovered, and maybe it would be a permanent lifestyle change. You bring in 90% of the income, he should no say in…

Yeah I mean his reaction of storming off wasn’t good, and the passive aggressiveness is also bad. He needs to communicate better. My question is why on earth are y’all having issues like this after “almost a decade” of being together? Like if he doesn’t trust you to go to a friends house with a dude there after almost a decade, why?? Did you cheat before? Is he controlling/abusive?? I agree that hanging out with or even having male friends is a bad idea. All of the healthy couples in my life who…

I think this is anecdotal evidence and possibly dangerous advice. Because you’re older and therefore probably a better judge of character, supporting a man through something as serious as alcoholism might be more of an appropriate life choice for you. But, as you pointed out, the people in this sub are usually younger. Lots of us in our early twenties. I wouldn’t suggest to a young girl to ignore alcoholism in favour of other good traits in the hopes that she can support a man through his addict…

The mommy’s boy thing is definitely icky. I agree you dodged a bullet, mainly because he wouldn’t take into consideration your needs, opinions, feelings, etc. A good captain will always take his wife into consideration and do what will lead to a prosperous relationship for you both. You have a good head on your shoulders and plenty of time! Good luck girl 💞

Talk to him about it OP! Don’t be afraid to ask him what motivates him the best. I had this conversation with my partner because he and I are very different, and it did wonders! Be sure to make it clear to him that you believe in his abilities 100%. As Laura Doyle says, we are our husband’s mirrors. He’ll look at you and see how much you believe in him, and it’ll help him to believe in himself. If you haven’t read the surrendered wife yet, I highly recommend it.

People should of course manage themselves, but partnership is about doing life together. Sometimes you need to motivate as well as inspire your partner. Having someone to remind you of your goals when you want to eat an entire cheesecake makes it that much easier to stay true to said goals. It’s not about “managing women” or “holding someone accountable.” It’s about understanding that you and your partner are human and could benefit from a loving little wake up call. Finding a way to motivate yo…

I’m also young (21) and creating a value system. I don’t have much to offer in terms of help, but I’m someone who knows what you’re going through. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you ever want to chat :)

Sociopathy was my first thought too. I have no right to go all psychologist... I just have such a strong emotional reaction to this. How can you not have an intimate/ deep love with your wife? How can anyone be incapable of it? Absolutely insane to me.

Men don’t like women who complain and have negative attitudes. A lot of what men like is the vibe you put off. Are you humble and modest? Are you thoughtful? Are you kind and considerate? Or are you boisterous, loud, complaining, etc? Men like women who are active listeners, who have joy in their hearts and a passion for life, who are good care takers. I know some women who are not very traditionally good looking, but they’re the best wives I’ve ever seen and their husbands take very good care o…

Seems like he’s not a very good man. I’d dodge. Also, 6 dates in two weeks sounds like a lot. Maybe try less with the next guy so you can avoid love bombing.

Don’t feel ashamed! You have great self respect and self control for resisting unhealthy social norms. Nothing good ever comes from sleeping around. That’s a wonderful trait that you have going for you. 💞

It’s largely genetic. I have soooo much body hair and so do lots of women in my family. If I let it grow, I practically have a moustache, my eyebrows are so thick, hair on my legs, knees, stomach, and even a few on each boob. It’s a lot to keep up with but unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about it. Definitely go see your family dr and have a quick blood test to make sure your hormone levels are in check, but other than that, you just have to put in the effort of shaving every day or two…

Contact with exes of any kind is a deal breaker. I’ve found in dating that it’s just a sign of immaturity and drama 🤷🏼‍♀️

My boyfriend and I have the same height difference as you, I think! He’s 5’8 and I’m 5’5 or 5’6, idk. I’m in my early twenties too, but I literally never think about his height. He’s stood by me through the most unimaginably awful times in my life and treats me like a princess. He’s got a great body and a beautiful face. He’s strong enough to lift me over his shoulder with one arm. The girls I know who care about height and money are continually being used for sex or getting into unhappy relatio…

Girl... wake up and get some self respect. A man who refuses to unfriend some cam girl in order to show you respect isn’t worth crying over. Any man who has bought services from cam girls, currently interacts with them, etc, is not a good man and he isn’t worth your time. Break it off, go into nun mode, and work on boundaries. You can’t force anyone to be a different person than they are. That’s controlling. You can express to them what makes you uncomfortable and what your boundaries are, and i…

This is.. very long. I didn’t read most of it. However, I will disagree with you in your first paragraph. OP absolutely should look down on other teens who sleep around and party. I was a girl who had sex early and partied. I understand why I did it, and I’m not upset with myself, but I’ve come to see the value in virginity and treating your body well. Eating healthy, not drinking or smoking, wearing sunscreen, etc, are all good things. Likewise, not having sex or screwing around proves that you…

Yeah it can be rough like that, but you seem to have a great head on your shoulders. Teenagers have no idea what they’re talking about. They have no grounds to make moral judgements on. When judgement and gossip happens between kids, it’s only to make themselves feel better. I was far from the perfect teenager and had my share of struggles, so I don’t mean to give advice from a high horse. If you ever have any questions, I can try to answer them or at least point you in the direction of people/ …

Peer pressure is going to be a bit brutal until you’re out of high school. It’s worse if you go to a smaller school. Everyone kind of knows everyone’s business, and there are pretty strict norms to conform to. Once you’re out, you will have so many experiences, make new friends, learn lots, and high school will fade behind you. Just hang on until it’s over. Don’t let anyone tell you that dating, kissing, hooking up, having sex, partying, drinking, smoking or doing drugs is a good thing. None of …

Yes, absolutely. The promiscuity and other behaviours don’t bother me all too much. I empathize that it’s the cultural norm and I was headed down that path before I became red pilled. For me, it’s the fact that I can’t talk to them anymore about much. Everything involves politics or social norms that I have the polar opposite views on. If I were to tell them my opinions, they’d probably either be worried about me or be outraged. There would be no discourse, no trying to understand one another...…

I don’t think you betrayed him because he broke things off with you. Ending a multiple year relationship and then coming back when you feel like it is not an okay thing to do. I believe that ending things and then coming back to you is manipulative. You don’t just walk out on a serious relationship. That being said, you betrayed yourself. Stop thinking about your life in terms of your ex for right now. Think of your own self worth, and the kind of woman you want to be. Is your ideal self the kin…

99% of my partner’s media consumption is red pill or politics related. He is an amazing, kind and respectful man. I would only consider being with a red pilled man. Why would you come to a subreddit like this to ask this question?

I’ve picked at my face, skin around my nails, and bitten my nails before. Sometimes the compulsion for all three would flair up at a time and I’d be a mess. I started practicing mindfulness exercises, which was good for all three. Filing/ cleaning my nails with a metal nail file stopped me from biting them. I also stopped looking in the mirror as often or as close up. I made a rule to never lean over the counter top and only look in the mirror if I had to. So, walk away while brushing my teeth o…

Covid can be spread by touching surfaces. If he breathes on you, you can get it. If he breathes on anything in your house, you can get it. Unless you’re maintaining 2 meters of physical distance at all times in a public place, you’re at risk. If you’ve been cuddling, you might as well kiss too. I’d suggest finding a way to try to explain this to him, that not kissing doesn’t lower the risk of transmission if you’re cuddling. If he still doesn’t want to, fine. Never bring it up again and respect …
