Unless I'm mopping my floors daily or scrubbing the tiles with my bare hands, chores can be done in 1-2 hours daily IMO. I don't know what we're defining as "high paying" either, but I'm talking jobs paying at least 300k-400k. To some that's high paying, to others not. I will say running your own business sounds more enjoyable than working in investment banking or biglaw....at least you have more autonomy. To be fair, working parents also take care of the home and we somehow make it work despite both working full time. It's not 1860 anymore. We have appliances that make things a lot easier. Chores don't take all day. We're not washing our clothes for 11 children in a river. We have washing machines, fridges, dishwashers, etc. I'm not farming my own vegetables or slaughtering my own animals like people used to. As someone who has a worked a high paying, high hours (70 hrs/week), stressful job (biglaw firm as a lawyer), I would say I'd rather do boring things 100% over that job. High stress, fast-paced jobs are a lot worse than being bored. There is a reason why biglaw attorneys get paid a lot of money and nannies/daycare providers don't. Because people wouldn't do biglaw jobs without the high pay whereas people would still be a nanny/daycare provider. Every job is different though. Everyone can be improved - intellectually, physically, mentally, financially, etc. Spending your days wallowing in bitterness/jealousy only harms you. Why don't people get inspiration and a productive hobby to improve themselves? Makes no sense to me.
